Dawn Of Twilight
Chapter 14 - part 2
"Though it would remain a privilege for those with an outstanding talent or those that come from noble, mage, or bloodline holders families.
"Simply by writing that book, he might have willingly created an aspiration the Bloodline holders could look up to, and his sacrifice he had over all the rest of his peers!"
Tobi shook his head.
"I see it differently, Horus. In my opinion, it either a person is extraordinary hardworking using it in surpassing the talented or you do have an outstanding talent. If in the past even those hardworking enough weren't accepted and only choosing those with exceptional backgrounds or Bloodline in the long term this would have led the magical circle to dwindle, if not to completely disappear.
"Though Being born in a wealthy or talented family not only gives you more resources and schooling, but talent which is decided at birth but without being hardworking enough it becomes useless.
"Hence, the Batman must have done most of the things he did not out the goodness of his heart, but to correct a dangerous flaw in the Bloodline communication. Bloodline indeed allows to beat quantity with quality, but there was still brute Ancient bloodline like the Ancient Vampires and Lycanthrope.
"Without hardworking people, maybe even like me, there wouldn't be enough new blood, and Bloodline would sooner or later disappear. This is the reason why his achievement to me can't be view as a gift or inspiration. But rather, he needed to prove himself and badly."
Horus stared at Tobi and pondered a while before speaking again.
He sighed deeply.
"I wish I was so profound back in my days. I would have avoided so many stupid mistakes."
'Yeah, sure.' Tobi thought to himself sarcastically. 'An over thirty-some years old man that comes from Earth and is not able to see that much would be called an idiot. Giving scholarships here or on Earth is the same.
'Either a way for the people at the top to get rid of the masses from revolting, or their sense of guilt from stealing the funds of the masses.
'Even with the manifestation of fears, they hardly care much about the mass's opinion. If it was left to them, they would prefer hiring a doctor, a lawyer, or any professional help when they need it. If just having an offspring would suffice for their needs, they would have long closed the schools or countries centuries ago.'
Horus and Tobi got back to his study after speaking briefly, where he was given a big, thick book with a black hardcover. Its pages were completely blank.
"Young master, this will probably be your first grimoire. Though the Paper is rare and expensive by Mage ȧssociations, if need be it can be mass-produced if you want. Though as a Hybrid Awakened, you might not find much use to it because of your perfect memory could copy almost anything."
Tobi sat back behind the desk and resumed reading after Horus left. Most of the contents of Batman's book were old news to him, so he took another book instead. Some of the books he read he had discovered them by himself through countless trial and error experiments, back in his village.
He could only sigh in regret, every time he thought about his family.
'If only I had these books as soon as I was reborn. I wonder how powerful I would be today.'
Whenever Tobi would find something noteworthy, he would either photocopy it to his mind or write it down in his grimoire. Tobi could be said to be skimming through books rather than calling it reading, his pace was slow yet fast enough to finish hundreds of books in a couple of minutes to hours, so after skimming through them he would go through a revised process again.
Tobi found various books which extended towards the sections Mana element about fire, water, air, and earth which was quite bland. He already knew almost everything written in the book, but he still read every word carefully.
Horus would allow him to read-only until lunchtime, then he was forced to go back toward their training section, before resuming their previous routine about etiquette, switching their training time from morning to afternoon.
It took him a few days to get to the juicy part. Tobi was aware that being self-taught, using magic was his weakest subject that was before he met Horus. They were the supernatural elements that didn't exist on Earth, after all.
He spent a whole week on the various elements section and their subcategories, taking countless notes and finally understanding how shallow and rough was his mastery over those elements and magic were.
"Amazing, this simply amazing. It never ceases to impress me how profound the previous Pride Dracula library was, especially covering various topics a person could think about giving them an understanding of various elements, including shadows, necromancy. Every book has a different description of the mana flow in a person's body which could give rise to peerless ideas. I would have never thought of that on my own.
'Only now I finally understand why Horus probably didn't nag about me spending too much time reading. Light and darkness are not separate elements, but two sides of the same coin neither are shadow nor darkness different. Shadow is of paramount importance to the understanding of the darkness element.
'Once I have fully absorbed all this new knowledge, I might not even need to go to an academy. If I really manage to do that, I would only do my research on Magus and Warlocks Hybrid Awakened.'
Even though he already knew everything, Tobi still reads every section again and again, until he became certain to have not missed anything. His magic power hadn't increased much, but his comprehension was now on another level for all the six elements.
Tobi was sure he would be able to achieve even stronger foundations, also improving his spirit world (AN: Wrote it as Mind world previously). But with his confidence, also new doubts arose.
Time kept on passing from days to weeks and then months, at the moment Tobi was in a bad mood.
'Dammit, ifs and buts are becoming useless now, who would have thought Horus would be so persistent about sending me to the Divine Moon academy, no matter how many times I preferred being home-schooled.'
During the passing of the previous months, Tobi had tried relentlessly to convince Horus that an academy was not good for him, even still Horus resorted to using his responsibility as Pride Dracula as leverage.
His words were enthusiastic as they could be, exactly like this.
