Dawn Of Twilight

Chapter 43 - Alarm

The person who had walked and was rejected frowned for a moment, before then putting on a smile, "Well, pardon my manners my lady, but we're already nearing the dangerous regions where the ogres tribes are likely to appear. Lord Urara told me to come and inform everyone to remain vigilant at night. And to send some people over to patrol the area…

Once the man was gone, the faces of the various mercenaries all had stern expressions. Only the Valkyrie Anomander had a delightful expression on her face, as she took out her bow and arrow with a look of anticipation and glee.

"Finally, something more fun than rusting our a*s!"

Was what she actually said out, which her words slowly gave rise to little commotions, as well as making the expressions of the merceries frown as they stared at her angrily.

"In that case, why don't you be the on the front guard and be the first to go on patrol tonight!"

A mercenary commented, the spite within his voice was palpable, his words dealt her a blow, which dampen the valkyrie mood, but still didn't stop her from giving the person a cold glare before she left.

Tobi who was within the carriage neither said anything as he only stared at them for a moment, before closing his eyes. This wasn't his business, he wouldn't stand up for a strange nor would he also attack her.

Looking at the valkyrie walk back into the carriage with anger, which was impressed on her expression, Tobi could feel the smug grin the mercenaries all had on their faces, as they watched her leave in glee.

However, among those who had smug grins, some were rather dark as they turned back to look at where the valkyrie had gone to.

'This… feels like something would happen soon…' Tobi thought to himself silently.

...

At the moment....."Be careful! The footprints of an ogre have been discovered from ahead!" A loud bell rang, which was followed by the enhanced voice of a mercenary that came from the carriage in front of them, stirring up the entire merchant group.

After finally entering the dangerous region, even if Tobi was in a disguise he could not hide his appearance as a warrior and mercenary that was employed at the mercenary guild.

As a mercenary, he had to fulfill his duty for a paid service, not just accompanying his employer's carriage but also serve as their protector. Through the carriage's gauzy curtain, he could see two similarly frightened expressions of the two noble sisters.

"Shush, it's alright dear sister, the mercenaries will protect us." Black Rose held her sister's within her embrace, as she perked her forehead, which gave comfort to faizah.

"I'll go and take a look!"

The Valkyrie Anomander, said out loud as she got off from the carriage, that was immediately after putting on bows and had arranged her arrows. The black bull which was her mount let out a muffled snort, as its dash forward which rushed toward the front of the group.

In its wake it left behind little clouds of dust and sand which were all over the satyr's head and face, making him appear like a little ogre since he wasn't able to dodge in time.

Even his goatee had been filled with pebbles, which formed a ridiculous appearance that made the noblewomen within the carriage to chuckle quietly. Black Rose's stern expression was softened a bit, as she held her sister softly.

'Damn, bitches making fun a great satyr… Phooey mofos!'

R-B curse inwardly, as he kept on spitting out the sand in his mouth, while his hand softly held his gun case. After the journey had begun, he had spent some time polishing it, with which the appearance became much more preferable in contrast to its previous one.

With most of the rust cleaned off, it was now smelt of gunpowder. However, Tobi still held his doubt that it wouldn't be as useful as a hammer would in melee.

Tobi looked at the satyr still skeptical as to whether the satyr, who had not even reached level 6 rank 2 was strong enough to fight against a high-ranking ogre.

Although getting their goatee stain with dirt was a very big insult for most satyr's, R-B seemed to be unaware of this fact, since it was either he cared less or lived long enough to slowly ȧssimilate into human society, which also made him scheming and cunning.

Or rather it could also be said that after working with humans extensively, he had learned their bad side of being shameless and picked up a few bad habits. However, naturally, the satyr would likely not agree with such an ȧssessment of him.

Though Tobi bȧrėly knew anything about a satyr, since his memory he had of one, was from the movie Hercules, even still what he could only detect was the slight trace of a stubborn and tenacious temper they had nothing else.

When the Valkyrie came back toward the carriage, the satyr seemed excited as he eagerly led her mount along with her, which in the process had even received a silver coin as a tip.

It could be said that what the satyr had said about being a good caretaker was rather true since the black bull was in complete contrast to how it used to be before. Within the past few days, the valkyrie whose mount was previously malnourished now looked more stout.

Meanwhile, the noblewoman had also expressed her dėsɨrė to hire the satyr as her personal caretaker which the Satyr R-B appeared to be very delighted about since he had a smug grin you would notice from anyone becoming a sudden millionaire over.

"What's happening up ahead?"

Tobi said, acting unware of the satyr smug grin he had on his face. Since his concern, was the state of the front carriage affairs in front of them.

"A few of our scouts, and thieves have reported that they have discovered the footprints of an ogre.. The imprints seem to be also fresh, and it looks like it was just half an hourglass ago.
