Dawn Of Twilight
Chapter 77 - Relentless training
Tobi days soon reassume, as it consisted of his breathing routine, as he began to have a steady flow of it.
After discovering his newfound ability since arriving in this world, he had grasped the basics of it. As he practiced relentlessly.
With his constant practice, he felt himself gaining a deeper understanding of mana and magic.
Tobi discovered that natural mana was just formless uncongested gas, with elemental energy in its complex natural form.
And making an elementary form of a general element consisted of various steps. First, one had to see the particular filament of elementary mana he/she wants control over, and then slowly feel its movement pattern.
Then mix the elementary mana he was trying to manipulate, with the Mana emanated from his body. The last step which is the hardest is condensing it into an entity and then controlling it.
All this made Tobi's powers increased, since natural mana had no physical form, he could only rely on his mental willpower and imagination.
And if he was to use his power without borrowing the elementary mana. That would make it more difficult, than manipulating the natural mana.
It also required much more focus, compared to his breathing technique. The clearer the mental image of action he wanted, the better the effect and result.
With his training progress sailing smoothly, he could clench his fist to conjure a wisp of earth magic. Though it would bȧrėly last a minute, it was still a sign of progress.
As Tobi's powers increased, so did his control. After a month(now a year), he felt confident enough that he could hear a 100meters(328ft) from himself, see in perfect clarity at night, slightly lift a wooden chair.
Jog/walked up or both without tiring out.
He would always be careful about doing everything, he discovered that his body physique exacted a ridiculous amount of strength for a baby.
After that, he shifted his whole focus tonight training and control rather than accumulating power. His mana was very much limited, and he preferred doing a few elaborate tricks perfectly, rather than doing something extravagant and elegant at the risk of blowing his cover.
The only downside of all that training was that Tobi got hungry faster and fatigue. Luckily, his unique situation brought enough benefits to his stomach and body.
After getting a head start, Tobi now formed a free time that he had dedicated to practicing the breathing technique that he had named" Mana Technique."
In this way, the internal energy that he had dubbed as "mana core", grew faster to the point of hitting a bottleneck.
Apparently, it seemed his body wasn't mȧturėd enough due to malnourishment, to hold an indefinite amount of Mana. Tobi had never made use of natural mana before, so he didn't notice that due to John limiting his meal, his baby body couldn't grow at a rapid pace.
So, without realizing it, his body and power core were trying to create a balance and develop together.
But now the balance had suddenly broken off, and practicing Mana Technique would make every inch of his body ache, so he was forced to stop.
Luckily, he was still well-fed and as well developing fast, so despite not doing any physical body exercise his physique was constantly improving, so the bottleneck would not last long.
While being forced not to use the mana technique, he began studying his bottleneck status, he found out that it was possible to modify his breathing technique by removing the breath-holding part. That way, the world energy would just flow in and out of his body like natural air oxygen, energizing him like a good night's sleep.
Tobi named this new technique" Mana accumulator"
With several tries, he discovered that the world's energy could allow him to stay awake for a least a week, but not indefinitely.
Each time he would use 'Mana accumulator', the energizing effective would last less and less. And only a good night's sleep would reset its effectiveness.
Tobi's progress made him realize, how unique the components of the world were. Through using 'Mana accumulator', not only could he perceive how his mana core changes in size, but also a rough understanding of the amount of world energy contained in his body.
By using the Mana accumulator, he would feed the world energy to his mana core, allowing it to expand from the size of a bean to that of a glass marble.
Tobi had no idea how such a phenomenon works and had found no way around it as it seems it worked automatically. Mana core and body development had to go hand in hand, so there was no shortcut.
Bottlenecks happened when he tried to use the Mana accumulator, while the mana core was still at its peak size. The world energy would be rejected by the mana core, and if forcefully absorbed his body would run wild.
By continuously undergoing expansion, and compression cycles. His mana capacity was already incomparable to when he had just discovered his power.
After managing to modify his second technique Mana accumulator, so that when he breathed in the natural mana, he could combine it with his own temporarily exceeding his limits and empowering his whole body to a different level for at least a minute Tobi dubbed it "Mana bloodlust"
By that time he would be able to expand the resulting energy, moving it from the solar plexus outwards until even his eyes would be overflowing with world energy.
Ever since he had discovered his power, he had noticed qualitative changes to his body. Apart from being better at withstand cold and heat, or being sick, his skin seemed a bit pale with no blemishes.
Even his suppose birthmark, was slowly fading away, living him a spotless and healthy baby.
When his whole family would catch a cold, he would either get over it before the symptoms manifested, or recover in a day or two.
'Unless it's all a crazy coincidence, improving Mana accumulator is the only means at my disposal to temper my body. And if my guess is right, this means that I can use it as a crutch until I get big enough to do physical activity.' He thought.
'Hopefully, it should also help me overcome my bottleneck periods faster. Though it's a bet, it shouldn't do any harm. Also, as a year old baby there isn't much I could do.'
As for his family life, it also experienced some changes during the following months.
The relationship between him and his family got better, most especially with his mother Christy and big sister Bell.
Who would hardly live his side, and even if they did. They would stay within his range, watching over him.
With John being out of the way, live on it smooth sailing.
He had already started saying babble words, out loud making sure to say "Mama" when Christy carries him and "Dada" Whenever Christopher embraced him.
His baby business was on a smooth sailing from good to better, Christopher was always busy doing something or the other. Letting his wife and elder daughter spend most of the time with him.
To himself inwardly,' We could always catch up later, after all his my son.' Christopher would think.
And he had ȧssumed Tobi was too small to take notice of this. And he could work out things with him later, Christopher really loved and as well Tobi never ceased to amazed him always exhibiting one funny habit to the other.
If someone shouted, or mistakenly hit his cradle, he would just ignore it while pretending to sleep.
Though he would have loved to express this affection, all he could do was baby smile and laugh.
It wasn't much, but it meant the world to her.
As time went by. After a year from his birth, Tobi was out on the ground and started to crawl under strict supervision. In the fourteenth month, he started to walk and graduated himself from babble words to real ones.
On the day of his birthday, after discovering they celebrated birthdays in the new world too, he allowed himself to make use of simple phrases and as well started to make questions to fuel his vocabulary.
Knowing nothing about the baby business, it was very stressful finding the right timing for when, and when not to do something. He was already capable of understanding most of what he could hear, so he would always be opened to"suggestions".
Everyone had expectations from him, as they were filled with anticipations from what he would do next, but he would wait a couple of days before making it happen.
Another problem came when they would let him roam free in the house with a four-wheel babysitter, which also had a handle for navigation and control. Expecting him to play and explore his surroundings with a wooden toy.
Tobi already knew the whole house like the back of his hands, and there was not much to take note of in the first place. Yet he had to pretend or show curiously to it.
That was the hardest thing he had ever done since becoming a baby and it scared him to death. He had no clue how a child would find such a bland environment seemingly interesting to explore, and again his paranoia and the wooden sitter against his crotch made him sweat bullets within his pants.
Seeing them expressed their expectations, he couldn't help but comply as he started from the nearest place, the rooms.
Crawling over to the door that led towards the inner bedrooms, he looked left and trying to determine what could bring chaos. If they wanted war, then he would give them war.
What lies after or rather what he first took note of, was a high wooden cabinet a few inches above his head. When he got closer, he forcefully pushes his babysitter as he bumped onto the cabinet, while using its solid wooden body as a crutch, he could see a few neatly folded clothes.
Tobi looked at them, swinging both his hands to the left, the clothes fell on the floor. Immediately Christy came in, and just right in time to see the clothes, she had just folded a while ago on the floor.
"Good gods, Dear our little son sure likes to cause a ruckus with the clothes." Seeing their increasingly worried expressions, Tobi believed he had found a way out of his torment.
He would keep causing a ruckus by scattering clothes, as he didn't like the idea of putting himself in danger, what of if he mistakenly cut himself with a sharp object? And his parents saw his wound heal almost immediately which would have caused an unnecessary commotion.
And at the end, resulting in blowing his cover. As there wouldn't be a reasonable explanation for all of that. They quickly decided that his adventure time was over.
After that day, they made him sit on an old cloth spread over the floor, to limit his movement they gave him a little wooden mannequin to play with while they recovered from the stress.
Playing was much easier this way, Tobi did not need to explain or make up stories tales, except the mouth-animated sounds to match his action set.
One thing he noticed was that the toy felt weightless like it was made of air. Moving with it was easier,' Unless am becoming crazy powerful, crushing this wooden toy to bits and pieces should take less than an instant.
He felt excited, if this was just the benefits of unlocking his power as a vampire or werewolf, what awesome stuff would he discover next? How to grow fangs? Or claws?
Or maybe super speed? Sonic scream? Or maybe both.
Tobi would openly scream and laughed, as he wholeheartedly enjoyed these moments. Every new discovery or breakthrough made him rejoice, and all his parents would see was a happy child lost in his fantasy world.
"Who would have ever have thought that children everyone labeled as demon babies could have such vivid imaginations on cloud nine? With a normal life as well?."
"Look at him, such an innocent child. Those damn villagers and their beliefs in rumors, how are they so sure they ain't being deceived by those people?."
"Five years from now, we would be saying goodbye to this damn village."
