Regarding the topic of singing, Shu Nian actually quite liked it when she was young. She would sit in front of the TV and sing along to the cartoons playing while thinking that she was doing well.

Shu Nian never thought that was anything wrong with her voice.

Her parents had never bothered to correct her. They just thought that it was cute and funny so they left her to her own devices.

That continued until the beginning of junior high school.

There was an exam in her music class. At the end of the semester, everyone had to sing a song on stage. They could choose to sing alone or to find someone else to sing along with.

At that time, Shu Nian sang the song, “Grateful Heart” by Ouyang Feifei.

During the song, Shu Nian had noticed all the smiling faces in her class. She felt strange but she still persisted in finishing the song.

After stepping down the stage, she asked He Xiaoying about it and realised that she was out of tune.

Compared to the original tune, hers was unrecognisable.

After being laughed at so many times by her classmates, Shu Nian didn’t like singing anymore. Even if she wanted to sing, she would just quietly sing in her room on her own.

But when Shu Nian and Xie Ruhe’s relationship with each other became good.

She got really excited once and without much concern, she sang in front of him. At that time, Xie Ruhe listened to her for a while with a slightly strange look. In the end when she was done, he finally said a single sentence to her.

——”I’ve heard of these lyrics before but I’ve never heard of this song.”

The meaning of that sentence was exactly the same as what Xie Ruhe was saying now.

Shu Nian bowed her head and said nothing.

Shu Nian paused and felt very unconfident about those words: “Really?”

“Um.” Xie Ruhe said seriously. “You can just sing along tomorrow.”

While talking, the two had walked to the nearby station.

Although Shu Nian was not comforted by him, she did not bring up the subject again. She helped Xie Ruhe catch a taxi but she didn’t know how he was going to get in the car so she just stood beside him at a loss.

Xie Ruhe was familiar with it. The car door was wide opened and the wheelchair was slightly tilted. He supported himself using the armrests and putting strength in both of his hands, he quickly pushed himself into the back seat. Then, he bent over and moved his legs into the car.

Shu Nian felt that she couldn’t help in any way so she just put her focus on the wheelchair.

The next moment, Xie Ruhe reached out and pressed on the wheels to removed the two tires. The wheelchair divided into three parts and he put those in the car as well.

Looking at the series of actions, Shu Nian blinked and suddenly thought: “Didn’t you say that your hands were uncomfortable?”

Xie Ruhe paused and he hummed stiffly.

“Then remember to have a good rest when you go back.” Shu Nian didn’t think too deeply about the matter. “Let’s keep in touch, goodbye.”

Hearing those words, Xie Ruhe looked at her. Then, he lightly nodded.

“En, goodbye.”

The next day, Shu Nian arrived half an hour in advance at the studio Li Qing mentioned.

During the waiting time, several more people came in. The number of people was less than Shu Nian had imagined though. There was only about 10 in total.

Shu Nian secretly observed the others and could recognise some of them. She had gone to many other studios before for various projects and would often see them who were also a beginner like her.

Shu Nian took back her gaze and began to worry about the issue of singing again.

After all, every industry had their own specialty. Although, Shu Nian had seen older films where there were singing involved, the singer would usually just sing the song first and then the actor would lip-sync it.

There were also some examples of the voice actor doing the singing but it wasn’t a strict requirement.

At that moment, a group of people came from the elevator. From her point of view, there were about seven or eight people. Most of which were new faces. Except for Li Qing, Shu Nian didn’t know any of them.

She was about to look away.

Suddenly, she noticed that there was a man hidden at the back by the others. His expression was indifferent and he was looking down at something. There was someone behind him who was pushing the wheelchair for him. A middle-aged man was talking next to him but he was being completely ignored.

The man in the wheelchair had a casual appearance.

Seeing the man’s face, Shu Nian’s expression instantly froze.

Li Qing walked over and said hello to the group of people. After making sure that everyone was there, he briefly introduced the group of people standing behind him.

There were a producer, film director, sound engineer, assistant…

Until the last one.

Li Qing hesitated and glanced at the producer first before saying: “This is Teacher Ah He.”

Everyone standing in front of Shu Nian politely repeated “Teacher Ah He” and gave a bow as well. Shu Nian was still in shock. Only after reacting did she quickly follow along but her voice was drowned out by the others.

Xie Ruhe raised his head and glanced in Shu Nian’s direction. His eyes were fixed on her but he soon withdrew his gaze. He didn’t seem surprised or even cared much about her being there because he didn’t look at her again.
