Chapter 139 - Night Guard's Headquarters

Ace then remembered that, that day was Monday. So, he answered, "Of course Geo, the son of Ace."

Every entrance of the night guard's headquarters had 3 guards that were responsible to open the entrance if the members of the night guards wanted to come in.

The first sentence that Ace said was his code name. Each personnel of night guards had a code name. And his code name was Zero. He chose this code, because he was the director. For example, Jordan had a code name A001. 'A' letter represented his group, which was elite. And '001' was his number based on how early he joined the group.

After that, one of the guards would ask two from a dozen varieties of questions. Based on the day, the answer that was required would be different.

Then the guard asked again, "Who was the one who threw up this morning?"

Ace answered, "Wasn't that Tony?"

Then the wall behind Ace moved and made a gap. Ace then entered it. It was a small room that was only 4 x 6 meters and 6 meters in height. At the end of the room, there was a stair downwards.

After Ace entered the room, the gap between the walls was closed. Ace then went down the stairs. The stairs were designed similar to a spiral. There were some doors along the stairs, with numbers on top of the doors. The number started from 01 on top of a door that was the nearest from the room that Ace had entered.

The lighting of the stairs came from light golems that were summoned by summoning scrolls that were created by Sofia. They were 2 grades higher than the previous light spheres. They would only shine when a person or creature entered their range of senses. Other than that time, they would sleep while absorbing mana from their surroundings.

Ace went down to the door with number 04 on top of it. Inside it, there was a large table and many chairs of various sizes in the center of the room. On the wall at the end of the room, there was a kind of blackboard that was used for presentations.

The lighting source of the room was also light golems. On the corners of the room, there were pots with some mushrooms growing on them. According to the goblins, they could generate oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. Many of them were found in tunnels that were spread underground.

Ace found a dragonling was writing a book seriously. In front of him were many papers that seemed to be the documents.

"You are too diligent, Mose. You can write the daily report later. Just join the party in the plaza," Ace said.

Mose, the dragonling, then looked at Ace absentmindedly, "Director, have the ceremony been starting?"

Ace nodded, he said, "In fact, it has been over a few minutes ago. If you don't want your fiance to abandon you, it's better if you hurry up."

Surprised, Mose then jumped from his short chair. He then took the book that he had just written and many documents on the table into his inventory. He ran really fast to another door. He then stopped and looked at Ace, "Sorry, Director. For the report. I will do it tonight. See you."

Ace just waved his hand while smiling. He then saw the dragonling dashed towards a different exit from the one that Ace just came out.

He could only shake his head seeing the awkward dragonling —that was actually his secretary— left. In his opinion, Mose was a workaholic person. He often forgot about the time while working.

Without him, Ace would have a headache doing cores of the bureau. As every day, many reports would be sent to his office to be evaluated. Then, Mose would arrange them into some categories and make a resume of them. After everything was done, he would give the resume to Ace.

From the resume, Ace could tell the real conditions of the area around Laketown as well as the situation in the Bones Prairie, where the skeletons were roaming. Ace also had to review some of the important reports. And then decided if it was necessary to talk about it with some of his subordinates or even the elders.

Ace then went to his room. In fact, he had two rooms in this area. One was on the top floor of the guild house. One was at the bottom of the night guard's headquarters. There was a very small tunnel that connected the two rooms. The tunnel didn't have stairs or something like that. So, Ace could only jump from one floor to another.

From the tunnel, Ace could access any floor easily. He designed the tunnel himself. As he could jump really high, he didn't want to waste any time moving by the stairs. The location of the tunnel was hidden really well. Only Ace and some builders knew of its existence and how to access it. Ace even asked the builders that built it to sign a confidential contract that made it impossible for them to talk or show it for the rest of their lives. That's just how powerful the contract was

Closing the door. He looked around the room. The first thing that he saw was a study table and chairs at the back of the room. Behind his study chair was a bookshelf. Besides it was a big chest that was actually a vault.

There were two light golems in the room, and a pot of mushrooms on the corner. He also had a set of sofas and a low table where some snacks and a tea set were placed just next to the wall near the door.

As he couldn't hold his curiosity anymore, Ace then opened his inventory and took the three things that he got from the rewards of the quest. As he had built the guild house, he didn't take it out. He could sell the blueprint of the guild house in the auction house. He wondered how much dirac he could get by selling it. Actually, he and his family had dozens of blueprints either from killing monsters or were drawn by his wife to practice her writing mastery.
