Desolate World

Chapter 177 - The Final Phase, Start!

Ace continued to run around the town. East was chasing behind him all the time. He had succeeded in luring the ghoul away from the battlefield for some time. Honestly, he was glad and annoyed at the same time. It was such contradictory thoughts

He has glad because the ghoul was so easy to provoke and stupid. So, he could lead him easily. But at the same time, he couldn't finish East by himself. He had deserved the name of Elite ghoul, as he had such ridiculously high HP and MP. He also had such high agility, so it was impossible to face him in a fixed area, as it only made Ace suffer.

After all, he had a paper-thin defense. Once East caught him, he would be done. So, the only solution Ace had was to attack the ghoul while running away from him.

At the moment, Ace had successfully shaved around 65% of his HP. If everything went well, he could kill the ghoul in around 30 minutes.

As he took another turn into an alley, he got a call from Cloud from the guild channel. She said, <Phase 2 is complete. We are ready for a final battle.>

Ace was stunned for a while, then he tried to make sure, <Are you sure?>

<We have 13,500 skeletons that are ready to kill here. So, how aren't we sure?> This time was Sampson's turn to say.

Ace then couldn't help but be excited. He then said, <Then, start the final phase!>

Ace then looked back to see East. He then said, "Hey buddy, would you like to see some good scenery?"

After getting Ace's confirmation, Emily took the scene of the excited guardians. At the moment, they were at the back of the huge army of more than 13,000 skeletons.

Not like when the first time she saw them. At this moment, they were no longer scary. Instead, the comment section was exploded by the excited viewers' comments.

Emily gave up on reading them as the comments were changing at a rapid speed. Just looking at them made Emily dizzy.

Emily then focused her camera towards the earthen wall that was created by the gnome earth mage. It then crumbled like sand then became a flat surface of land in less than 10 seconds. She had never seen a spectacle like that. It was marvelous.

Then with Doom's sign, the skeleton army was moving. It was maybe only her imagination, as she felt that the ground was trembling when all of the skeletons moved.

Hugo —in the bats' state— was stunned. He saw an elite ghoul, Dallas was ganged up by the enemies' layers of spells, the big golem and mysterious man in armor to death. He saw him as mysterious because he couldn't see the man's information. Actually, it was not only him that was mysterious. Many strong people on the enemy side were mysterious, as he couldn't check their information.

Although he also saw a man who was chased by East, one of the elite ghouls was familiar. His means of attack was really similar to a guardian that had ambushed him in the cave in the past.

However, he thought it was just a coincidence. As the guardian was just at a level around 20th at that time. It was impossible for him to grow that fast in a few months. As after reaching level twenty, it would be too hard to level up. It was the norm.

He also saw Lander try to save Dallas, but a mysterious winged man that he suspected as an angel was holding him pretty well. No, he should say pretty viciously. As he was an enemy.

He also said 'vicious' because each of the arrows that he had released contained an element that made him uncomfortable. As Lander was among the crowd of zombies, his movement was somewhat restricted. It caused him to suffer massive amounts of damage each time he was shot.

As for Lander's arrows that were released at a rapid pace seldom hit the angel. It was because the angel flew pretty high, he was able to anticipate Lander's attacks as it was pretty clear from above. And he was also quite agile in maneuvering in the air. So, although Lander released more arrows, the mysterious angel could contain him well. Well, he meant luckily.

The two elites that were beside Vesper also tried to save Dallas. But it was already too late. While the two tried their best to cross the crowd of zombies, Dallas had already been killed. After all, they weren't blessed with high agility, as they were tank-type fighters.

It made the two angry. They then attacked the mysterious man that they thought was responsible for the death of Dallas. By the way, their names were Casillas and Troya

[Casillas] (elite)

Race: Ghoul (Death Knight)

Level: 29

[Troya] (elite)

Race: Ghoul (Death Knight)

Level: 32

Looking at their levels, Hugo wanted to shake his head. Unfortunately, he was in bats form. Making him couldn't do that. Their levels as elites were too low. Looking at the prowess of the golem and the mysterious man in armor, it was clear that they weren't the matches of the elite ghouls. Although they were thankers, their low HP's would make them killed. He was sure of that.

He looked down at the ghouls very much. Well, it couldn't be helped. Like a vampire that was proud of their intelligence, he looked down at skeletons and ghouls. As skeletons and zombies were famous for their stupidity, ghouls were famous for their stupidity and bad anger management.

Well, skeletons and zombies were stupid, but they were easily be led around. So, they were perfect goons. But ghouls were different. Although after becoming ghouls, their intelligence had been restored to some degree, it made them easier to be irritated.

He heard from a ghoul guardian, the reason for their lateness in departing from Iron Gate Fortress, because Vesper had an argument with the higher up of the Iron Gate Fortress, Goro who was a skeleton lord.

Goro wanted to give 10,000 skeletons to Vesper, but the ghoul refused it flatly. It was just after lengthy persuasion, Vesper was forced to accept the skeleton lord's offer.

If it was Hugo, he would accept the offer readily. As it was free, after all. And skeletons were easy to manage and good cannon fodders. In the past, He had rented a few hundred skeletons to help him catch some human refugees. Although he had to return them in a month, they were really helpful to him at the time. So there was actually no reason for him to refuse.

Looking at two berserk elite ghouls that were beaten by the big golem and the mysterious man in armor, he knew that they were not only lost in HP, they also lost in overall stats. They were doomed to be finished sooner and later. And with their elites defeated, Hugo knew that they were at a disadvantage in the battle.

If he knew that the skeleton army at the other side of the earthen wall had been completely crushed at the moment, he would never dare to think that his side was at a disadvantage. He would think that they had already been lost. It was impossible for them to win the battle.

Hugo then looked in Vesper's direction. The alone ghoul lord looked angry. But for some reason, he seemed to hesitate about something. He didn't know for what reason he was hesitant, but for the emotional lord to be this indecisive, it meant that there was something that forced him to be like that.

He didn't know and didn't want to know. As he smelled trouble in this matter. It made him want to leave this place immediately. After all, although dying was normal for a guardian, as most guardians didn't mind dying for a little benefit. He didn't like that. It made him think that he was a loser.

Then his bad feeling was confirmed in a few minutes. The earthen wall behind his enemies crumbled like tofu. However, the strange thing was the debris from the collapsed wall integrated with the soil immediately. Making the surface flat like before the wall was erected.

It shocked all the people that were fighting. But their responses became divided afterward.

Looking at the skeleton army that was in a neat formation made Hugo surprised. As he had never seen the stupid skeletons could make a neat formation. As they were too stupid to do that.

Then he remembered a scene in the past. Yeah, he actually had seen the skeletons made a neat formation. It was when they invaded the human kingdoms. At their first battle against hundreds of thousands of humans in front of Iron Gate Fortress, they had made such a domineering formation.

That neat formation of a million skeletons made their first battle going so well. The weak humans were trembling even before the two armies met.

In fact, he doubted that a million army was enough to defeat millions of humans. But to his surprise, the human soldiers were falling like dominoes when they faced their skeleton army. Although some other undead also sent their personnel, he had to admit, the key to their win was because of the organized skeleton army.

Although their HPs were somewhat low, an organized skeleton army was frightening. Their never to be afraid and cold personalities would make the faint hearts tremble. And only a few figures that could make them make a neat formation.

They were liches. The nobles of the skeleton army.
