Devil's Apocalypse

Chapter 18 - Red Things

After a few weeks of travelling and practicing magic, which wasn't as exhausting as before as she ate plenty of magic gazelle meat to stock up her own mana, Kasdeya had another advancement in her capabilities, she could now make the mana flow faster and concentrate it into her muscles making her much stronger, she couldn't keep this up for long however and it was currently just a burst type ability. She also wanted to take some gazelle meat along with her and use it as a substitute mana potion like in games, however the energy quickly dissipated from corpses making this tactic unviable, much to her disappointment.

Kasdeya had also leveled up a few times after fighting and killing quite a few herds of gazelle and it turned out that every five levels would award her with an additional point to ȧssign, she still chose to save them though.

[Name: Kasdeya Votumea

After travelling for a while Kasdeya had also finally made it out of the grassland and came across the beginning of a ruined city.

'Well, if I learnt anything from the last abandoned metropolis I was in that would be that they are super hospitable with no threats lingering in them at all.'

Wandering into the city Kasdeya started looking around at the buildings and discovered that she seemed to be in a residential district, but not a very luxurious one. The standard of the housing wasn't particularly bad but she had seen better before.

After walking for a while a sudden noise ahead caught Kasdeya's attention, so she decided to investigate. Dashing behind cover she quickly climbed up onto a building and started moving towards the noise, when she got closer she saw a small humanoid creature, bȧrėly coming up to a metre in height, with no hair and long arms and stubby legs. This creature's skin was red and it had long, elongated but not that wide ears sticking out the side of its head and lastly each of its fingers and toes ended in hooked claws.

[Level: 9

Race: Lesser Imp]

'Is this a demonic species? I wonder if we can communicate, but judging by what this thing is doing and how it's acting. I'd say we can't. There's no harm in trying though.'

Mustering up her courage Kasdeya climbed down the building and then casually walked over to the little red creature, but when it saw her it jumped back, let out a weird hiss and dashed away through the buildings.

Annoyed by it's lack of respect to a clearly superior being, despite her knowing that it's probably to dumb to know what respect even is, she chased after it, cycling her mana and then using it to strengthen the muscles in her legs before she leapt up to the top of a house in a single jump before letting her mana calm again and rapidly following behind the lesser imp.

She saw it change directions multiple times and run up quite a few different side streets before running into a random building that had its front door open.

Kasdeya then followed the creature into the building which she presumed was a clothes store as it was lined with clothes.

"Now that I think about it, this is the first building that I've come across that hasn't been emptied, and the hall doesn't count as it hardly had anything in it. Now where's that damn imp.'

Moving through the store, Kasdeya kept sweeping her gaze over everything while using her tail to move aside some lines of clothes that were hanging up as she looked for the lesser imp.

She didn't have to search for long however as just when she turned down an aisle the imp suddenly sprang out of nowhere directly towards her face with its claws swinging down. Unfortunately for it, Kasdeya's horns were slightly more than just decorations and as its claws collided with them it did no damage but jar her head slightly.

In response to the obvious attack Kasdeya immediately dropped all irrelevant thoughts and surged her mana into her right arm giving her heightened movement speed with that arm, which she used to quickly stab into the imps stomach, tearing it open and spilling its entrails onto the floor as blood splattered everywhere.

'I don't think I'd have a future in diplomacy as I just created a new access point to the stomach of my first client, however that creature clearly wasn't intelligent so I don't really care.'

Looking down at the corpse of the imp, Kasdeya hooked her tail around its neck and lifted it up so it was level with her eyes.

'Not the cutest creature is it, but this thing is most definitely a demonic species like me, so I wonder if there are more in this area, and if any of them are intelligent enough to hold a conversation.'

'My current clothes are quite damaged with holes in them and though this might not bother me too much considering everything important is covered, it could get awkward if I meet something with intelligence and they are so enraptured by my beauty that they can't think properly, especially so if they get distracted by the slight jiggling of my ċhėst. So, let's see what's on display and find something slightly less destroyed and with more support.'

Walking away from the clothes that were covered in blood from her latest skirmish, Kasdeya decided to keep it simple and chose a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt, still choosing one with a buŧŧon up design, and a simple pair of undėrwėȧr with no ornamentation.

Leaving the shop with her now slightly blood stained attire due to her not being clean, Kasdeya started aimlessly walking through this place once again and she immediately noticed a difference.

'This is much better, bras are more important than I first thought.'

Kasdeya kept exploring for a while and as she was walking the amount of lesser imps she came across started to increase and whenever she found one she would sneak up on it and kill it.

'Hmm, the number of imps is increasing. Maybe there is something here like what I found back at the town where I first woke up, with all the dogs crowding in the one location because of the nice air.'

The area that she had ended up in had lots of tall buildings with flat roofs making it easy to move without being found.

Jumping from rooftop to rooftop and occasionally channeling her mana into her legs when the jump was too big, Kasdeya kept moving forward. When suddenly she heard something that sounded like distant talking.

Changing her direction to aim for the talking she stopped on one of the lower buildings and when she peaked over the edge she found a small team of what were very obviously demons, but they were not like the lesser imps she had been fighting for the past hour or so.

Race: Imp]

[Level: ???

Race: Greater Imp]

The Imp looked similar to the lesser imp however it was 1.5 meters tall, had normally proportioned hands and legs and it had two stumpy horns coming out of its forehead. The greater imp had all the traits of the normal imp but it's horns were longer, it was roughly 1.7 metres tall and it had two bat-like wings protruding from its back which were currently folded.

'I'm guessing that the imp is the evolution for the lesser imp and the greater imp is the evolution after that, so by going off of past experiences to be able to see something's level I have to be on the same evolution number as them or higher. I won't be able to test this theory though until I evolve again. Focusing on the here and now, how am I going to go about tackling this situation.'

Kasdeya ȧssumed considering that there were five imps and a single greater imp that the greater imp was the leader, and the reason she thought they were intelligent enough to have a leader was because they were talking, however the speech of the normal imps wasn't very articulate with some of the things they were saying sounding like they were spoken by a caveman and the greater imp, while seeming to have a higher intelligence as it could form normal sentences, only really told the other imps to shut up and not talk about the mission objective.

'Leaving the question on why I can understand them aside, I'm very curious about this mission that they're speaking of, something about an ancient relic, I think I finally have a goal, I want that relic.'
