Dominating Evolution of the Cosmos
21 Learning Pharmaceutics
Steve never thought that he'd become a pharmacist, as he did not fulfil the top three requirements for it.
"Please don't worry about it master. I have already infiltrated the optical computer systems of the military base, and also have downloaded the pharmaceutical knowledge. It only needs to be copied to master's brain, and master shall be able to gain all the theoretical knowledge. Moreover, master has the best medicinal ingredient now," reported the Heart of the Universe.
"The best medicinal ingredient?" Steve was confused.
"That's right, the seven-colored energy serum that you have is the best medicinal ingredient, as it includes a potent cosmic force and all sorts of elements, allowing to to be used as the principle drug for many medicines!" The Heart of the Universe formed an image of the seven-colored energy serum in Steve's mind.
Along with all the properties and ingredients of the serum, Steve took out the seven-colored serum. Back when he took the seven-colored egg, there was already half a bottle of the seven-colored serum beneath it. Steve estimated that there was roughly about 300ml of serum in this bottle.
"This serum could be used as a principle drug?" Steve asked, curious now. If it were true, he would be able to cut back on costs!
He had the pharmaceutical knowledge and the ingredients, so if he were to give up on his learning now, it would be a huge waste of an opportunity! More importantly, he would be able to increase the speed of his training by taking serums and medicines. This was perfect, as his utmost desire was to increase his skills and become stronger.
"But, even with all these ingredients, I'd just be wasting them without the guidance of a great teacher," Steve said helplessly.
"Please, do not worry about it master! As long as I'm here, you may rest assured that this will not be a problem," said the Heart of the Universe.
"You have an idea?" he asked, hopeful.
"Master only needs to be prepared for everything."
Upon hearing what the Heart of the Universe said, Steve started to prepare the ingredients that were needed for pharmaceutical lessons. Pharmaceutical equipment could be rented from the military, and the military's facilities were fully-equipped, which would save Steve a lot of trouble.
As for the ingredients, they were available for sale at the military camp's military merit exchange area, and could be exchanged with military merits or bought with money. The military merits in the army could be gained by killing magical beasts. One could also sell their unwanted items there in exchange for military merits. Steve managed to reap quite a lot of elite magical beasts this time around, so he had accrued a great amount of military merits.
He had almost spent all of the 10,000 in original gold he got as a reward previously, and the 200 plus military merits that he had exchanged with the magical beasts' meat. However, Steve was still uncertain.
Subatomic serums were the most commonly used among the F grade serums, and the level of difficulty to cultivate them was moderate. But, it was only moderate for F grade pharmacists.
Moreover, the success rate of cultivating subatomic serums for F grade pharmacists was only between 1% to 10%. But, if a pharmacist apprentice were to cultivate them, the success rates of junior apprentices were just short of one in a hundred million, while the senior apprentices' rate could reach one in a million.
Steve did not even count as a junior apprentice yet, so his success rate was close to none! Regardless, these 300 sets of medicine were purely for training purposes, and it was impossible to be able to cultivate subatomic serums with them.
"Are you confident that we'll be able to cultivate subatomic serums with these 300 sets of medicine?" Steve asked again, still unsure.
Even though a bottle of subatomic serum retailed at a price tag of 10,000 in original gold, its cost was only 100 in original gold, meaning that it had the possibility of giving them a hefty profit! However, with such a pitiful success rate, even F grade pharmacists would not be able to profit much.
Having 300 sets of ingredients meant that Steve had to cultivate three bottles in order to earn back his costs, even a single bottle less would result in a huge loss for him.
"Rest assured master, at least one set will be guaranteed success," the Heart of the Universe said, full of confidence.
Steve's face turned gloomy in the blink of an eye. He felt cheated. If he had known that only one out of 300 sets would be successful, he would never have been so wasteful!
But, he had already bought the ingredients, so there was no getting off the boat now. So, Steve gritted his teeth and said, "Let's start!"
"Copying pharmaceutical knowledge for you… copying Fundamental Theories of Pharmaceutics in progress… Copying the 10,000 Fundamental Methods of Pharmaceutical Formulation in progress…"
Whoosh!
Steve felt his mind fill with infinite amounts of knowledge, not caring if he could withstand it, as all the knowledge crammed itself into his brain automatically. His brain started to hurt, but he gritted his teeth and accepted all the knowledge anyway.
This speed of absorbing knowledge was a lot faster than if he were to learn pharmaceutics slowly by himself. An hour passed, and Steve had already learned all the theoretical knowledge of F grade pharmacists, which was a mass of information that took others 10 years of hard work!
But, Steve felt as if his head was about to explode from the influx of information. After a while, his headache subsided and he breathed out, "Let's begin!"
"Database setup completed, pharmaceutical profiles setup completed, creating instructional videos for you in progress…modeling completed…"
"Analyzing equipment data in progress, analyzing ingredients data in progress…"
"Beginning mock experiment!"
A moment later, a 3-D scene emerged in Steve's mind, as a pair of bg hands, which were exactly like his, was picking up the ingredients and completing the experiment according to the theoretical knowledge. In this mock experiment, Steve could feel everything, as his senses of touch and smell were the same as in reality. It was as if he was performing the experiment himself!
Such a real and perfect mock experiment might not even be achieved by the most advanced virtual reality machines! This was an even more realistic and immersive experience than if a great teacher were to teach him step-by-step. After a few minutes, the mock experiment was completed and a perfect subatomic serum was presented.
"With such flawless mock experiments, it is no wonder that you were confident that you could teach better than a great teacher!" Steve exclaimed in awe.
He picked up the experimental equipment and ingredients, then started following the steps of the mock experiment until he finished the experiment. The equipment and ingredients were all analyzed by the Heart of the Universe. Hence, Steve's senses were the exact same they had been in the mock experiment via the sense of touch or smell. It was as if he had already completed the experiment once before and was simply repeating it again!
"Extracting energy serum!"
Steve extracted a drop of the seven-colored serum carefully, announcing it aloud proudly. According to the analysis of the Heart of the Universe, the seven-colored serum could be used as the principle drug, and at the same time, could also increase the effects of the medicine, causing the molecules in the serum to become even more active!
Ding!
Steve completed the last step and tried to mix the seven-colored serum in.
Crack!
The serum bottle cracked open suddenly. Then, it exploded, rendering the experiment a complete failure!
"Why did it fail? I clearly followed the exact steps of the mock experiment." Steve was perplexed.
"Analyzing for you…there was a total of 13 mistakes in this experiment, as well as two fatal mistakes…"
