Don't Go Breaking My Heart

15 Rival? III Don'st Go Breaking My Heart

They hugged for a while longer.

"When did you get back?" She asked as she took her seat, and he sat next to her.

"5 days ago. I was still thinking of going over to see you tomorrow. Who knew you'd be here?"

Caleb Watkins was my seatmate in high school. We were very close friends and gossip partners. He crushed on a senior back then but after graduation, she traveled out of the country for university. He followed after her once he graduated.

We had kept in contact when he left, but it strained over time due to our busyness. It felt great to see him again.

"Just drinking away my sorrows. Why are you here?"

His face turned sad, "same as you."

"Didn't get the girl?"

"I thought I did." His downed two more shots before he continued.

"I pursued Stephanie for the longest time. 2 years ago, she agreed to date me. I was so ecstatic when I finally got the girl of my dreams."

I listened to him talk and felt his pain. The girl he had chased after, leaving behind his family and friends, was using him for money. The money she got was then spent on her gang leader boyfriend. She took advantage of his feelings and love for her.

"She's not worth your tears," I said softly, handing him a box of tissues.

"I know. I know that but it still hurts."

Seeing him cry broke my heart. I pulled him in for a hug and pat his back until he became calm.

"I missed you," he said after putting on his signature bright smile.

"I missed you too Caleb."

We clinked glasses and caught up on a lot. He told me about his life and achievements. He just opened a taekwondo children's studio and was going to be the instructor. We talked about the past too and remembering all those fun times relaxed my mood.

"So why were you drinking?" He asked suddenly. I sighed heavily as I pictured Justin's face. I stopped texting him so that I can sort out by thoughts.

"My crush left me. He went for work and kept his distance afterwards. He's a military guy."

"Are you giving up?"

"No, I don't want to." I answered firmly. I wasn't going to give up on Justin.

"Got a game plan?"

I was about to reply when i looked past his shoulders and saw the runaway man staring hard. My heart missed a beat when I saw his face. I hadn't seen it in a while and looking at it now made me realize just how much I had missed him.

He moved his sight away, and I finally answered Caleb, "I've got one now!"
