Dragon's Origin
#230 - Inspection and Cultivation (Part 1)
When Wang Sheng rushed back to the small mountain village, Old Daoist Lingxu was indeed in his small Taoist temple. However, there was an extra young Taoist attendant by his side.
In a year and a half, it was unknown how long the old Daoist had been in seclusion, but his temperament seemed to have changed greatly. Perhaps because he had a young Taoist attendant to serve him, he was no longer as sloppy as before. His Taoist robe was clean, his hair was neatly tied up, and he looked much more neat and tidy.
The old Daoist also saw Wang Sheng and the changes in him. The dust and dirt were real, but the sturdy young man with a broad back and a thick waist had become even more fierce and restrained, and even had a bit more scholarly air. Without asking, it was certain that his calligraphy lessons had taken effect.
Without needing to test him, the old Daoist was already very satisfied with the changes in Wang Sheng's temperament. The old Daoist was not Wang Sheng's master, and had no obligation to supervise Wang Sheng's cultivation. He taught him the methods, and if Wang Sheng didn't practice them himself, the old Daoist wouldn't say anything, at most he would just feel that a pearl was being cast before swine. But it seemed that his efforts had not been in vain, and Wang Sheng's cultivation was not bad.
"Let's go, let's take a look!" When Wang Sheng saw the old Daoist, he just smiled and said four words.
Old Daoist Lingxu didn't say a word and followed Wang Sheng. The young Taoist attendant, who was doing his work, hurriedly put down what he was doing and quickly caught up. As he walked, he glared at Wang Sheng.
Along the way, the old Daoist didn't ask Wang Sheng a single question. He was waiting for the surprise that Wang Sheng was going to show him. The journey of dozens of miles was leisurely for the three of them, and it was already evening when they arrived at one of the river beaches where the three rivers met.
This river beach was carefully selected by Wang Sheng, and he had also asked the boatman to find someone to level it in advance. The place was big enough. The old Daoist didn't know what Wang Sheng had brought him here to do, but he didn't ask, he only cared about the result. Wang Sheng told everyone to rest and eat, and he rested and ate, not worrying at all that Wang Sheng would be malicious.
By the time they had eaten and drunk, it was completely dark. When they had just arrived, it was already dusk, and the sky was not very bright. The giant pillar in the heart of the river could only be seen in outline. At night, it was even darker and nothing could be seen clearly. The bonfire illuminated only the scenery around them, and everything else was black.
"It's so dark, what is there to see?" The young Taoist attendant was very dissatisfied with Wang Sheng, this rustic fellow, who had brought the old Daoist here with just a few words, and took the opportunity to lash out.
"You'll know in a moment." Wang Sheng looked at the young Taoist attendant's eyes, thoughtfully.
The young Taoist attendant ignored Wang Sheng's pretense and snorted coldly, turning his head away from Wang Sheng.
"Old Daoist, please check my cultivation over the past year or so." Wang Sheng smiled, not bothering with the young Taoist attendant, and turned to Old Daoist Lingxu, bowing very solemnly.
Old Daoist Lingxu's face also became serious, and he nodded to Wang Sheng: "Okay!"
"Wait a moment!" Wang Sheng stood up, left a sentence for the old Daoist, and then turned and left, disappearing into the darkness in the blink of an eye, whereabouts unknown.
"Master, what is he doing?" The young Taoist attendant saw Wang Sheng leaving so carelessly by the light of the bonfire and couldn't help but shout.
"Just wait, what's the rush?" The old Daoist smiled and reprimanded the young Taoist attendant slightly, and then he also began to look forward to it.
About a quarter of an hour later, just when the young Taoist attendant was getting impatient and felt like the days were passing like years, suddenly there were a few clanging sounds in the distance, and then a fierce whistling sound came from the air.
The whistling sound grew louder and louder, clearly flying in this direction. The young Taoist attendant was shocked, and jumped up, clearly having some cultivation. But just as he was about to take a closer look at what was flying over, his body suddenly lightened, and then he flew out.
In the air, landing, the young Taoist attendant didn't feel any discomfort at all. This wasn't the first time he had felt this way, and the young Taoist attendant knew instantly that it was Old Daoist Lingxu who had made the move. But what did he mean by moving him aside?
The next moment, the young Taoist attendant saw what was flying over. A huge rock that looked very regular, six feet long, one and a half feet wide, and one and a half feet thick, flew towards the old Daoist like a siege crossbow.
The young Taoist attendant's eyes widened. Such a large rock, even if he didn't know much about stone, but this size, compared with the tools he used when practicing, must weigh five or six thousand catties. How did it fly up? And how did it fly so fast, so urgently, and so accurately?
Could it be that Wang Sheng had set up an ambush here long ago, and only launched it when he and his master arrived here? How despicable!
Just as the young Taoist attendant was thinking this, the old Daoist laughed and shouted, "Well done!" Then he stretched out his arm and met the corner of the boulder, using the momentum to throw it backwards, dissipating most of the force of the boulder, and then taking a step back, completely dissipating the momentum, and gently placing the boulder on the ground in front of him.
The young Taoist attendant had just breathed a sigh of relief when suddenly the whistling sound came again. By the time he could see clearly by the light of the bonfire, he realized that another almost identical boulder was flying over.
Old Daoist Lingxu did the same, putting the stone down again, side by side with the one just now. At this time, the young Taoist attendant realized that the clanging sound had been going on almost continuously. Could it be that someone was chiseling the stone on the spot and then throwing it over here?
As if to confirm the young Taoist attendant's guess, next, the same boulders flew towards the old Daoist from the darkness almost without stopping. The old Daoist was also powerful, catching each boulder gently and neatly, and then stacking them neatly together.
The young Taoist attendant was already dizzy and could hardly believe his eyes. Such a large boulder, was Wang Sheng throwing it over, and his master catching it?
Secretly walking to the row of boulders that his master had already placed, the young Taoist attendant tried to lift one of them. He knew his own limitations. With his cultivation and strength, it was impossible to lift or hug an entire boulder. It would be good enough if he could lift one end.
As the young Taoist attendant expected, this boulder weighed a full three tons. The young Taoist attendant had only just begun his Yuan Soul Enlightenment, and he was also young, and his physical strength had not been fully stimulated. Even if he used all his strength, he could not lift a corner.
The young Taoist attendant couldn't help but feel discouraged. He had successfully started Yuan Soul Enlightenment at his age, and was already a small genius. Moreover, his Yuan Soul star rating was very high, and all he heard on weekdays were voices of envy and praise, and he also felt that he was amazing. But now he realized that Wang Sheng was not much older than him, but the power he possessed was so terrifying.
"You don't have to compare yourself to him." While Old Daoist Lingxu was constantly catching the flying boulders, he did not forget to comfort his grand-disciple: "That guy's power has been specially strengthened, he is now a monster. People should not compare their strength with monsters."
