Dragon's Origin

#253 - Don’t do what you are not allowed to do (Part 2)

A line of eleven people, three or four in the front, Wang Sheng in the middle, and six or seven in the back. Basically, Wang Sheng was at the front, simply pointing out some methods for clearing the way. The team was spread out in a line, and with everyone's equipment, they looked like a standard exploration team.

The yellow vine that Wang Sheng mentioned was hanging from a tree they had just passed. There were several other similar vines around, and they didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary.

Even the people in front didn't feel anything was wrong when they walked past, but Wang Sheng specifically turned around and said not to touch this vine. What did he mean?

Some people remembered the iron rule that Wang Sheng had mentioned a few days ago and before setting off: never do what you are not allowed to do. Perhaps this was how Wang Sheng was establishing his authority in the team.

Some people in the team obeyed. Wasn't it just not touching things randomly? In the Thousand Layered Land, there were dangers everywhere, and it was common sense not to touch things you didn't know. Since Wang Sheng said not to touch it, then don't touch it. It's not a big deal. Most people who could cultivate to the fourth realm could suppress their curiosity.

The problem was, there was a small minority who were the opposite. Not only was their curiosity very strong, but from the bottom of their hearts, they didn't respect Wang Sheng at all. In particular, Wang Sheng had directly trampled on their dignity a few days ago, which was still fresh in their minds and made them very unhappy.

Since Wang Sheng didn't allow them to touch the vine, someone insisted on touching it. The fourth young man behind Wang Sheng, who used a sword, followed the footprints of his companions with a sneer on his face. When he walked to the vine, he stopped deliberately. When everyone noticed his movements, he slowly reached out and grabbed the yellow vine.

When he reached out, the young swordsman kept looking at Wang Sheng's face. Unfortunately, he didn't see any signs of Wang Sheng being angered, nor any signs of embarrassment because his authority was being challenged. In Wang Sheng's eyes, there was only pity, as if he were looking at a dead man.

For a moment, the young swordsman wanted to stop his movements. But he was young after all, his cultivation had grown quickly, and his state of mind might not be very stable. With so many people watching him, wouldn't retreating make him look bad? So, instead of stopping, he accelerated his grip.

As soon as his hand grabbed the vine, the vine, which had been hanging down, suddenly flipped up from below. The lowest end struck the young man's finger like lightning, and then quickly hung down again.

The vine's movements were very fast, but everyone present was a fourth realm master and could see clearly. It was not a vine at all, but a snake disguised as a vine.

The dull yellow body, hanging down, was no different from the surrounding vines, but the open snake mouth and shiny fangs could not hide from everyone's eyes.

The young swordsman was already standing there in a daze. It wasn't that he didn't want to move, but he suddenly couldn't move. He felt a pain in his finger, and he could see most clearly that the gloves made of fifth realm demon beast skin couldn't stop the poisonous snake's fangs and were directly pierced.

Two fine needle-like holes appeared on the glove, and then he felt half of his hand was numb and without sensation. Then, just as he was about to use his power to resist, his whole body felt a burst of paralysis.

"Don't move!" Everyone was shocked and was about to attack, when Wang Sheng's deep voice suddenly reached everyone's ears.

If it were the state they were in when they set off, probably few people would listen to Wang Sheng's words. But Wang Sheng had just said not to touch the vine, and the consequences of touching the vine were so terrifying. Wang Sheng then said not to move, who would dare to move again?

Everyone now firmly remembered Wang Sheng's iron rule: you don't have to do what you are told to do, but you must never do what you are not allowed to do.

Everyone stood in place, not daring to move at all. Eleven people suddenly became eleven wooden puppets, motionless.

A hissing sound slowly came, and then everyone saw a terrifying scene. All the yellow vines that had been hanging from the tree slowly flipped up from the bottom.

Every vine was a poisonous snake exactly like the one that had just bitten the young swordsman, flicking its blood-red tongue, and watching its surroundings vigilantly. When they didn't find any movement, they all flipped up to the tree, no longer hanging down, and slowly moved along the tree trunk, quickly leaving.

At this time, Wang Sheng then called out, "If you have learned how to treat snake bites, give first aid immediately, then carry him back quickly, maybe there is still hope."

However, Wang Sheng was just saying it, and he had no intention of taking action himself. Why should Wang Sheng save a guy who disobeyed his orders and challenged him?

The two companions closest to the young man immediately supported him, cutting open the wound to bleed him, and feeding him some detoxification medicine, in a complete mess.

They were all from several major families, and they might even know each other, so no one was embarrassed not to save him at this time. They hurriedly gave some simple first aid, and then everyone carried the young man back along the original road at a rapid speed, faster than ever before. In a moment, they saw the city gate of the Thousand Layered Land.

The people on the city wall had not yet dispersed, and Wang Sheng and the others had returned. Many people stopped walking and just watched the excitement on the city wall.

"Someone was bitten by a snake!" Someone shouted the reason from afar, and there was a commotion at the city gate.

"Our Yu Baozhai has snake medicine." A voice like a magic needle sounded, drowning out all the commotion.

When Wang Sheng heard this voice, he immediately understood why Yu Baozhai had not taken action before. It turned out they were waiting here. It seemed that they had researched some things based on Wang Sheng's method. That's good, Wang Sheng needed some anesthetics and painkillers and could just ask them for them.

Someone rushed out to help with the rescue quickly, while others began to ask what had happened. After hearing the whole story, everyone stared at Wang Sheng in stunned silence. What he said could not be done, really could not be done casually!

"How did you know those were snakes? Why didn't they bite you when you passed by, but only bit him after he grabbed them?" A delicate female voice came out and reached Wang Sheng's ears. It was Ling'er, the most beloved little maid of Lu Wenhou, the young owner of Yu Baozhai.

Wang Sheng looked at Ling'er, who came out from the crowd, and shook his head with a smile, but didn't speak. Someone immediately understood that this should be the second rule Wang Sheng said, no explanation.

Ling'er probably had also heard of Wang Sheng's two rules, and wasn't annoyed. She said to Wang Sheng, "If you tell me the reason, Yu Baozhai will help you prepare all the new medicines for free. Everything you mentioned last time is included."

"I know because I've seen them before." Wang Sheng finally opened his mouth, presumably agreeing to Ling'er's proposal, and simply replied, "They don't bite people because they are sleeping. They sleep so soundly that as long as you don't touch them, it's okay to get close and walk past. But someone foolishly woke them up."
