Dream Life - Life in the Other World of Dreams
Episode XXI: Zack's Day
September 25th.
Wake up before dawn, as usual.
It is a child's body, a situation where sleeping is often attacked by strong sleepers, but they manage to wake up thanks to their daily habits.
As I struggle with the sleeper, I change into the clothes that my maid Molly has prepared for me in the dark room. Thanks to enhanced vision, it's pretty convenient because you can see things even in the dark close to dark.
At the end of the change of clothes, first perform light gymnastics in the room.
I slowly unravel my body with stretch guidelines. Exactly. The four-year-old's body is soft and he can put his chest on the floor with his legs open one hundred and eighty degrees.
Daily flexible gymnastics is essential because we want to maintain this flexibility. Thanks to this, I wouldn't call it an acrobatic regiment, but the range of motion of the joints is quite large.
By the time I'm done unwrapping my body, the night slowly dawns.
As usual, hold a little wooden sword for me and head to the garden.
Going outside, the Aquila Mountains to the east receive the light of the rising day, and its characteristic gizzardly ridges become increasingly clear. The colours of the four hills in the south also slowly become brighter as the morning mist clears.
By then my grandfather had also finished unwrapping his body outside, and I would stand beside my grandfather as I greeted him.
"Good morning, Uncle. It's going to be a beautiful day."
"Morning, Zach. Well, it's going to be a hot day."
As the two of us enjoy the morning conversation, my brother Rod shows up.
"Good morning, Uncle, good morning, Zach. You're always early."
When my grandfather and I return our greetings, the three of us lay down our swords.
When my grandfather starts waving his sword, me and my brother start waving silently, too.
Because I still don't have a lot of moulds to learn, I shake the few types of moulds I remember all at once.
My brother seems to be choosing his favorite mould in the mood of the day, and today he was barebacking with a poking centric mould.
My grandfather exhales a keen temper, showing a beautiful mould, then like a sword dance, as if there were enemies in front of him.
When the sky is completely bright, Mel and his brother Sim, Dan and Sharon's brothers and sisters, climb the hill.
And then I say hello to my grandfather, and then I start barebacking in the same way.
Only Sharon is watching us do the gymnastics I taught him next to it.
We'll keep waving our swords too until my grandfather's bare hands are over.
About thirty minutes, but by the end of even the cool hours of the morning, my breath will rise and my sweat will erupt.
He then gestures one at a time in front of his grandfather, and strange points are corrected.
At the end of their morning training, Mel and I head back home and we head to the well behind us.
By then, Walt was pumping up the well's water, and the bucket was filled with cold water. Wash your face with that water and your head will feel refreshed.
Further, soaking the hand wipe in its cold water and wiping the body feels that the lit body cools down suddenly. I can't stand this feeling.
In the original world, I only exercised as a student, but after joining the company, I practically exercised like an athlete. As much as I went to move my body when I got my free gym voucher, I hadn't been exercising in over twenty years.
Move your body and sweat. That's just it, but it feels so good.
When you're done wiping your body, head straight to the dining room. By then there is also a fragrant scent around the well where breakfast bread can be baked, inviting an appetite.
In the dining room Molly and her daughter Tricia prepared breakfast, and my father and mother had already sat at the table.
When we show up, my father, my mother, and Liddy smile and say hello in the morning. We return the same greetings and get straight to the table.
The breakfast menu is pretty much the same, but the milk boiled at my request came with butter, and cheese - which is hard based cheese, so I have it lightly set on fire with the excess heat in the oven.
That's what I suggested my growing brother and I would need calcium.
Until then, it just came with a dish with butter and cheese at dinner, but I thought I should take some more calcium.
To be clear, I have no idea what nutritional is. But somehow I just thought it was “milk” for kids.
Still, it was a hard bread and a soup without utensils, but with just dairy on it it makes it pretty much like breakfast. In a few moments, I would also like to challenge him to make ham and bacon.
There was no smoking of meat or fish in this village, and the meat was either fresh - many non-domestic wildlife - or only salted.
After breakfast and washing your face, a little leisure time flows.
I can relax for about an hour for my father to work on the village's operations, for my grandfather to head to the vigilante's paperwork. I often spend this time reading books or chatting with Liddy.
When my grandfather cuts up his paperwork, morning training begins.
The vigilantes are also climbing the hill, and when they look at us, they bow their heads and say hello.
About ten vigilante men align themselves in the square west of the mansion. When Walt checks each and every one of his gear, and his gear is flawed, he yells at him like a ghost sergeant in the U.S. Army.
Usually silent, we saw another side of the gentle Walt, which was very surprising at first.
When I start training in a combination with my grandfather, I look like an instructor and an assistant ghost sergeant who comes out in a movie. Rude to both of you, but I remember laughing a little.
Me and Mel, Dan's youngsters, at the far end of the square, even wave their swords.
A few days ago, Mel's swordsmanship skills went up to level two, making Dan look a little stronger.
My brother and Sims wave swords next to us, and sometimes my grandfather curses at me.
We'll be on a break in half an hour, but the brothers will remain in a mock fight.
The opponent is mostly his grandfather or Walt, to the extent that sometimes Mel's father Hector or Sharon's father Guy does.
My brother and Sims, at the age of eight, I think they're making pretty good moves, but my grandfather and Walt were never attacked, even if they dealt with one hassle while looking at the vigilante.
At the end of the break, we start barebacking again.
The mould just repeats what my grandfather gives directions, honest story, very unplugged. A little more practical training seems more interesting, but I can't possibly go against it because of my grandfather's guiding policy.
Besides, my brother has already trained for three years on this policy, so it would be wrong for me to be the only one complaining.
Our training will be over in about an hour, but our brothers and the vigilante men are still training.
We rest in the shade wiping our sweat and start playing when we get tired.
When it comes to playing, it's like climbing ropes, climbing trees, training on wooden ladders (yeah) and average platforms that Walt has made.
I think climbing a tree is a dangerous game for a little kid like me. In fact, he's been injured many times and transported to a healer.
This is what I thought when the healer first bewitched me.
If it's about a fracture, I can fix it right away. He said if you didn't hit him in the head or hurt his gut, it would be okay to do something pretty intense.
Yes, for small injuries, magic is more immediate and superior than modern medicine. So now I think it's okay to train a little intensely.
In addition to playing with these tools, I can now rotate forward and backward, so I focus on playing side rotation and bac rotation exercises and playing catch ball with a ball with a round cloth, which is going to be the training I can come up with. These plays are popular with the other three, and sometimes I get tougher with them.
Regardless of the active mel, I thought my dear Sharon would get bored, but contrary to his seemingly adult appearance, his motor nerves are pretty good. I feel like I could do it there even after practicing swordsmanship, but I guess it's not for my personality.
I have some errands to run to Beltram's workshop in Dwarf today, so Nicholas is supposed to send me by horse and I'm going home for lunch time.
At Beltram's, we'll check on the distiller's progress and as soon as we clear up any doubts from him, we'll head back to the mansion.
It's about a km away, so if you go with a horse, it won't take that long.
I don't know about other houses, but at least we get a decent lunch at the Lockhart family.
The menu is not so different from the morning, but it may come with freshly taken vegetable boils, river fish and meat that the vigilante will plug in.
And the time for a nap is coming.
What I felt when I became a child's body was that my body came to me with a strong desire to eat and sleep.
The amount of meals is also quite high, but the body nevertheless asks for an intermittent meal. I tell my mother and Molly about it, and they have something that looks high in calories, like a biscuit baked treat or a crunchy rusk made with extra bread at noon.
My mother and Molly were both against intermittent meals at first, but when I preached that the kids I exercise for need calories, I could argue with them lightly. My previous life's knowledge seemed to think it was good for my child's body.
To be honest, I don't know if it's a good idea to take high-calorie stuff between meals. But the body wants it, so it feels like it's necessary.
Of course, it's a premise that you're exercising intensely, so I don't think you have to worry about obesity......
If you sleep, bedtime is early - about two hours after sunset this season, roughly at 8pm, adults are asleep as well - but due to the fact that you wake up early, about nine hours is the night's sleep.
It's always lame and sleepy after lunch. More terrible sleepers strike me than at an unjammed meeting after lunch during my salaried days. Mostly, I get a blast of sleep for about two hours and wake up at about 2: 30 p.m.
After that, it's Liddy's magic class.
It's fun to train swordsmanship, but now the most fun time is this magic class and the magic training time of the night.
Me and Sharon study magic and read the relatively easy story books Dan and Mel brought me.
Dan and Mel also study letters well for five-year-olds, and an easy-to-read book would make them read without the help of me or Liddy. I don't know if an English-speaking child is, but these two may also be geniuses in a way.
And it's Sharon, but rather than a four-year-old, he's doing a lot of studying for a kid in this world.
I taught the letters, and I taught the arithmetic, but now I may have reached the level of junior high school in Japan. When I taught that day, I remember perfectly the next day, so it was caused by what I taught in good shape, but I never hated it, so I got on with it.
Me and Sharon listen to Liddy's explanation with a serious look, and where Liddy doesn't even know, he tells me to be as easy as possible to understand. It's a level where I really think I should be a teacher.
When you finish seating in thirty minutes, it's time for practice.
My magic manipulation is perfectly fine, so Sharon will learn from Liddy man-to-man.
I go to Dan and Mel's in the meantime and start reading books with them.
They read stories, I read magic books borrowed from Liddy, but sometimes, Mel hangs up a little. I was doing the right thing while reading a book.
That looks just like a kid who comes in the way, where his father reads the paper.
I was reading magic books while doing it appropriately to the extent that I didn't make it unholy, but these days I started riding on my back and pulling my legs. You want me to set aside the book and play a little bit is becoming a routine these days.
At the end of Sharon's training, it's roughly around 4pm.
By the end of the vigilante's training, he's going back to the village to replace us. It feels almost like pulling my legs together, like I wrote exhaustion in a picture.
Mel's father Hector taught me that one training day a month, he's looking forward to launching with his training buddies.
Hector also heard at the vigilante banquet that the only way they said it was the right man in this village to endure his grandfather's rigorous training, thinking only of going to the black pond pavilion, the only liquor store in the village, and drinking like a drink. Hector, who is a caretaker for the vigilante, also laughed at the trouble of being explained to everyone in a cordial manner.
Well, the villagers I'm talking about seem to appreciate my grandfather, too. He said it was only after his grandfather came that this village became so peaceful, and now demons rarely come into the village, and that it was also because of his grandfather that the bandits - who are quite around here - would not target this village.
The bareback begins again around 4pm.
Unlike the cool air in the morning, as the mugging heat lingers, as soon as you begin to wiggle, sweat erupts.
My brother and Sim are waving their swords as they flirt. At this time, my father and Enos, Walt's son, who is helping him, also participate in the training.
My father is still better off, but Enos is waving his spear as he continues to be cursed by Walt. He's the same magician as his father Walt, but he's not very good at it because of his short training hours.
The reason I was supposed to cut my training time - I can't say anything because Nicholas, the chief internal affairs officer, became my assistant, but I always think I should move my body a little bit more.
My father is always bogged down in mock warfare with my grandfather, too, so after dinner, childhood tamers may be talking about each other, stupidity.
All training for the day will be completed before 5pm.
Mel and the others go home and we head to the well again.
There is no bath in this house. I don't even have a shower. I can't help but draw water from wells for drinking water and cooking, domestic water such as drinking water for livestock and washing and cleaning depends on heavenly water - there is a large tank that stores rainwater - but this was the hardest thing for me, a former Japanese, when my memory returned.
Soak in zabun and water, exhale phew. I can't taste that warming feeling from the core of my body.
I can't get around to it at the moment, but I'm going to make a bath in this mansion one day. That's also bound to happen in the near future.
I have written the time so far, but there is no clock in this village. So the time it says is a huge mess sensibly weighed from the position of the sun.
For me, who lived minute by minute, sometimes second by second, with a watch and a cell phone watch, life without a watch was often a pastime. But now I think this kind of life is also a good thing.
By the way, they say the clock has special magic props, and if it's a town or a village along the street, it's kept around the bureau or the village chief's house.
After a cold bath of water in the well, it's dinner time.
The evening menu will be dominated by ingredients brought to you by vigilantes, or by ingredients that Hector and Sharon's father Guy, who often go out on the outside, will get.
Wild birds and pigs, especially those Guy picks up in the woods, are quite a treat in this mansion as well.
At this time of year, it is said that it is good to catch birds, mountain birds, quails, etc., and the wild birds that are roasted round the table are often lined up. I liked wild bird meat (Zivier) in my last life. It's like heaven to me, but unfortunately I still can't drink.
I want dark eyed red wine for the wild flavour of Xu - personally, not cabernet, but pinot noir - and if it's sautéed pork with fat, sweet white wine - precious rotten wines such as Sauternes - is fine.
The moist texture and rich aromatic mountain Sigi (Becus), the delicate fleshy forest dove Palomb… There is nothing exactly like the palomb of the Pyrenees, but the regular mountain dove Pigeon Lamier sometimes rises to the table - and I want red wine for these too. I also want a unique bitter thunderbird but I'm not around here.
But I guess I'm sad, I can't drink. Besides, there are not many good quality wines in this village. It feels a little cloudy when I saw it, and I think it seems cluttered.
From what I saw in the vineyards, there were black vineyard fruits, but I don't know how to make wine, so I can't improve the quality at this age when I can't drink.
Unfortunately for dinner today, it was a regular salted meat dish.
I have no complaints about this because it tastes good, but I really expect it this season.
Broiled salted pork and bread on imo and bean stew.
Potatoes existed in this world. And tomatoes and chillies. Though I have never seen tomatoes in this village and just know them as knowledge because they were written in a book.
Ingredients that have crossed from the Americas on Earth, but in this world they usually seem to have been around for a long time.
There is a lot of lack of information about whether there is anything like an expedition when you look at the map. Across the Aquila Mountains you can see east of this village in famous places, the east side hits it.
People over here call the land Kwaedham Tenebre-Eternal Darkness, and it seems to be the realization that it is a terrible land ruled by the Demons. For this reason, the eastern side of the Aquila Mountains was depicted in the map as a blank zone.
It just says there's an ocean on both the west and south sides, and nothing I've looked into to see what lies ahead.
They say the Frog Empire has a Fei Long unit, so if we combine sailboats and a Fei Long unit, I think they're going to be able to examine a pretty wide range.
Grandfathers and fathers are bickering as they drink. It gradually darkens outside, and Walt and the others light the magic props of the lights.
I liked the sunset from this hilltop.
To the west of the village lies a large mountainous area called the Porta Mountains, where the sunset sets.
Looking at the mountain, the sun slowly falls to its top. And as you gradually sink that figure, for a moment, you leave a dot-like light, and at the end of the day, all the orange dazzling sunlight disappears.
Immediately after that, a black mountain shadow appears to float in the red sky. And looking up directly, the cedar sky gradually turns blue.
Looking further back, the rugged top of the Aquila Mountains slowly melts into the pale sky.
I never get tired of seeing that again and again.
Looking at the blue sky as you glance, the stars begin to float one by one.
There are no stars I know. But seeing a belt of stars like a heavenly river in a full starry sky reminds me of the night sky I saw in my relatives' house in the back of the mountain as a child.
Sunny days often see beautiful sunsets.
And there's always someone behind me more beautiful than that landscape.
"Also, were you watching the sunset? And the sky?
"Oh, it's beautiful to watch again and again, and the expression changes depending on the season, so it's fun to watch"
Liddy laughs and says to me, "You look different in the sky."
I said, "I'm not denying it. But it's beautiful," he replies without looking at her.
I start practicing magic in the garden as it is, but I always feel somewhat embarrassed to start.
This is my day, but I do think it's a hard schedule for a four-year-old.
I really need more time. Because I have so much to do.
I never had such a full day in the previous world. At this moment right now, I can't deny being told I'm just dreaming. So much, because it's a dream life.
But there's still something I want to do. Starting tomorrow, it's the final process of the distiller, and I want to make a bath.
And beyond that...
