Dream Life - Life in the Other World of Dreams
Episode 36: The End
October 5th.
Because of the rain that's been going on since last night, we didn't go to the woods.
But after I met him, a young man came to the house saying it was Senator Worgman's use, not knowing how Senator Worgman was moving, so he couldn't even go to the library and was discussing what to do today.
"You're Zacharias Lockhart, aren't you? Lord Worgman wants to talk to you. If you don't have plans, why don't you come with me to Your Excellency's mansion?"
If I don't be vigilant and reveal my attitude, the young man, scratching his head, has apologized.
"I'm sorry I imitated you like I would try. I am Andreas Egger, the private secretary of the Honourable Worgman. Make a few bets with your Excellency..."
Egger showed me the orb and showed me that it was him, and then he handed me Senator Worgman's letter. When I saw the letter, it was something I wanted to talk to you about once because the processing in the college was over. If I was impressed that it was just a quick fix, Egger started telling me more about the bet.
"You said you would never move, even if your Excellency told you to follow without revealing your identity. I told him that my freshman year at the academy didn't care that much. Then your Excellency said you wouldn't make a bet... no, I'm really sorry"
Senator Worgman and Egger say I'm honestly following, and I bet lunch.
And I was like, "Well, I'm entitled to that lunch, too,"
"Your Excellency said the same thing. If I told you that story, you'd be asking for a nuisance fee."
I laughed bitterly and told Liddy and Sharon I was going to Senator Wargman's mansion and headed with Egger to the old town.
Worgman's mansion was near the centre of the old town, and it looked like it was formerly the mansion of a senior knight, a splendid three-story mansion with a garden.
Egger accompanied me into the mansion, but an old man and a middle-aged maid greeted me like a butler when I went inside.
Inside it was a mansion with a calm atmosphere and I was impressed with the atmosphere.
(That's so much better than our parents' house. That's just what happens to the mansions of people who move the country...)
He followed while being guided to the study of the senator on the third floor, taking care not to be too keen.
There's Senator Worgman inside, and he's been smiling at me.
He suggests the chair by saying, "That's bad for the day off." Here in Doctus, the five and zero days are holidays, and I'm saying that, but we were in the woods regardless of our holidays, so I didn't feel that way.
(You're on vacation, so you're in a private residence. I totally forgot I have a holiday... on second thought we were close to 24/7...)
Sit in a chair as recommended, thinking I had nothing to do with it.
When Egger took his seat off, Wargman started talking to Xu "Momouro".
"The college has a piece on it. Bennett, you and Chambers both assured me that I would leave your guidance to Professor Raspade..."
I was impressed with how fast I handled it. And when I nod small, he nods small, too, and keeps talking.
"... the two of them will probably quit the college in one cup this fiscal year. The Dean of the College should be bravely defeated next summer in the same way. Well, this may not be the result you wanted..."
So I changed the tone brightly,
"... about the choice course you were talking about, but we're going to introduce it on an experimental basis starting in January of the year. Exactly. At first, it will only be available in college, but after next fiscal year, it will also be available in private schools."
Here, Wargman laughed.
"There was only a few opposite voices about this. Speaker Seberg himself expressed his opposition. So I told the chancellor," You used to interact with researchers, do you disagree with this? "Then the chancellor will shut up. Nobody said anything after that. I wanted to show you. [M] Hahaha!"
That's what I'm saying, raising my voice and laughing.
When the laughter subsides, it returns to a serious look,
"You may be unhappy, but there is no penalty for this mastermind, Senator Ibbetson and Councillor Isherwood..."
He looked into my eyes and said, "You still don't seem to care. I thought so," he grinned.
"Of course, I sent Ibbetson a message (...) from me. This time, ten years ago, my tutor Croft wrote something that he told me about. And I sent a letter to Speaker Seberg saying that someone knew the truth ten years ago. I also wrote down that he was the person Ibbetson taught."
So he smiled at people's evil looks,
"I guess Miles - Counselor Isherwood's first name - heard it from Ibbetson. He came to me in a hurry yesterday. I guess neither Ibbetson nor Miles cared because I really cared how far they knew. I guess we're making a big deal of ourselves."
I thought I was a reasonable place, but I realized I hadn't heard of the treatment of Archie Croft, the other party.
"What happened to Mr. Croft? If you throw it out poorly, it's going to be erased."
Worgman said, "I'm at home. I'm still a Quentin tutor," he said all the time.
I'm surprised you're still making such a betrayed person your son's tutor.
Worgman looked mean and asked, "Do you know why?"
I quietly started thinking about Wargman's purpose.
(I don't expel Croft to prevent evidence from being obliterated, but I don't need to bother to keep him as my precious son's tutor. The congressman's story is that Quentin is nostalgic for Croft, so you're saying it's not easy to throw him out? No, there's no way this inedible politician would let you keep tutoring for that reason...... think about it. For Worgman, the advantage of leaving the croft intact...... intact! Oh, I see!
"Mr. Croft must have been comfortable (...) with His Excellency. So much so that I don't want to remember twice (...) and this time. Perhaps Mr Croft no longer wants to leave this mansion. This is my own imagination, but I guess I won't see him outside this mansion for a few years... I mean, that's what I mean, right?"
I dared blur the expression and answer. You asked me the kind of question you'd try. In return, here's what I think.
Croft should be threatened to death by Worgman. And I guess you told Ibbetson and Isherwood that you were the source of all the information you found out. Plus he's smelling his presence on Speaker Seberg, so I thought I told him about it. Knowing the circumstances so far, Croft will also realize his life is in danger if he is expelled from the mansion.
And there are two options that Croft can take.
Can you rub against a betrayed wargman once to perpetuate your life, or risk your life to escape Doctus?
If he escapes, Ibbetson and Isherwood, and even Seberg, could be after his life. I don't know how much of a private soldier you have, but these three would also be able to tailor you to criminals under the cover of sin and dispose of you while you're in the old town.
If Croft realizes about it, he has to assume that the only safe place in this city is here at Worgman's Mansion.
There's only one choice I can make to Croft that I realize. It is only in the mercy of Worgman.
So even as a Quentin tutor, this time it won't be detrimental. Perhaps Wargman will also be constantly monitoring Croft, and he should be doing something that will never betray him again.
I'll take a look at this from the side of Wargman's political enemies.
Croft, who knows everything, doesn't come out from under Wargman's asylum. It's not just that, it's heavily using crofts that should have betrayed you, so there's just going to seem to be some sort of tightness between Wargman and croft.
Around Isherwood, you'd think he spotted Croft's character and succumbed to Worgman's threats, but Ibbetson wouldn't know that much about Worgman and Croft's character.
Of course, as a wargman, you shouldn't care at all if they find out about it. The point is, we just have to keep him out of contact with Croft.
The way I put it, Worgman said, "You're really good for politicians. I didn't know you'd answer my mean question like that," he grins bitterly.
And in a frightened tone, "I just heard your words now, and only those who know know what they mean. Where did you learn to do this?" He was squealing rather than asking.
I didn't want to talk black any more, so I changed the subject.
"By the way, have you told anyone the fact that I told His Excellency?
Worgman shakes his neck sideways with the face that it's outrageous.
"There's no way we can talk. No, because no one believes me even if I talk to you, and vice versa, you lose the credibility of my story. So you're only here because you're bullied by Quentin in the college, so you're only here to tell me you want me to be bullied."
I was a little upset.
Because I thought it would be troublesome for Isherwood and Ibbetson to know at least. But Wargman's right, no one would believe a ten-year-old told a story like this.
"Then he said there's nothing wrong with us going back to college. And that means you can get grand instruction from Dr. Raspade."
He nodded loudly,
"I annoyed you about this one. One end of this responsibility lies with me. I'm so sorry."
He rose from his chair, bent his back wide and lowered his head deeply.
I got up in a hurry,
"We think Your Excellency has helped us. Please lift your head."
Wargman raised his head and lowered his back to the chair again.
I thought that was it and tried to take a seat but he stopped pushing it and rang the bell on the desk.
He had ordered the deacon who showed up to "bring in Quentin".
Though I think I'm a hassle, I promised at my last interview, so I waited very long.
A few minutes later came Quentin accompanied by a butler.
He's surprised I'm here, and he rounds his eyes. But he immediately changed his expression and bowed his head to me.
"Mr. (...) - Lockhart...... sorry. I think I felt bad, but it was my mistake. I'm so sorry..."
I was surprised that that arrogant Quentin honestly apologized.
(What way did you convince me to apologize? I've heard it's hard to honestly apologize for rebellious kids... well, for whatever reason, they're apologizing over there, so I guess I'll have to give them my hand as an adult)
I said, "I don't care," and I gave him my right hand. Quentin hesitates once and looks at his father's face.
When my father nodded forcefully, he took my right hand and bowed his head, "It's late, but it's nice to meet you".
I also said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Worgman," and held my hand forcefully.
(The question is how we're going to hang out with him. So far, I'm not going to attend college classes often, and first of all, my mental age is too different. I hope the Sharons think they're like their own kids, but I'm not going to fit them elsewhere...... well, can I just be)
I saw a satisfied Senator Worgman and wondered if he'd done it, but he wasn't a politician, he was his father's face, so I decided not to care.
I went home and reported the end of a series of incidents to Liddy and Sharon.
Sharon hears it's okay to go back to college, and she was honestly happy, but Liddy has the look that she's not convinced.
"The people who tried to kick you out in the end are the way they always are, aren't they? Something's not clear."
I thought Liddy would say that, so I explained my thoughts immediately.
"That's not true. First of all, I'm a Bennett teacher and a Chambers lecturer, but I'm kicked out of college this season only. It would be uncomfortable because the director of the college is looking at me further. Besides, Counselor Isherwood and Senator Ibbetson are getting angry about the two failures. My prediction is that one of you will quit before the year breaks."
Liddy nodded, so keep going.
"The next is Mr. Croft, an executor, a tutor, but a de facto house arrest life. Getting out of the mansion won't come true for the time being. Of course, I don't know what the Ibbetsons will do the moment I get out of the mansion, so I guess I won't get out of myself. You think I'd enjoy living like that? I don't know how many years that will last."
"Right. I certainly don't like that. But two of the big guys aren't letting it go wild. What will happen to these two?"
To Liddy, who is cute and angry, I smile unexpectedly, but I immediately squeeze my expression,
"First of all, Ibbetson's political life is reserved for councillors. I'll be chancellor. My eyes are gone."
She said, "What do you mean?" and lean his neck.
"For Ibbetson to be the next Speaker, the support of the current Speaker, Speaker Seberg, is imperative. But in this case, there was a crack between Seberg and Ibbetson. For Speaker Seberg, it just seemed like he was hiding a dangerous presence called Mr. Croft to bury himself. So this is the end of Senator Ibbetson politically. If you do poorly, you may get some retaliation from Speaker Seberg"
I made a face that Liddy didn't know, so I'm going to add more explanations.
"In other words, Mr Croft, who was the trump card against Speaker Seberg, is in the hands of Rep. Worgman, and Rep. Ibbetson cannot use that trump card. If Speaker Seberg expresses Senator Worgman's support, Mr Croft will not be used. If you do, you won't get paid back for betraying Senator Ibbetson."
Liddy said, "Right. And then Isherwood. What about him?" and have looked to my explanation with anticipation.
But I replied, "Unfortunately, only Counsellor Isherwood has always been the same."
Liddy is disheartened to say, "No..."
"If I insist, is it about as likely that Senator Ibbetson will nominate him when he retires? I can't tell you how Speaker Seberg will respond to Senator Ibbetson."
"You have no choice," Liddy mutters, but all of a sudden, she seems to remember the classmate,
"With that said, there were still people who harassed you directly! What about those kids!
I smiled bitterly at the sword screen and said, "I'm not going to do anything."
"They're kids. That was just used by adults, too. At least Quentin apologized to me. Other than him, Counselor Isherwood's daughter, Anita, would be enough to have incited it. I honestly don't think anything about her. More than that, I have no idea. We never even talked about it."
"Okay. But don't let it lick you in the future. I don't like my (...) Zach being licked by kids around here."
I nodded when I said, "Okay," even though I thought Liddy was more of a kid.
