Dream Star
616 Winter Miracle Part 4
Lila didn't want to ruin the romantic moment when they were eating early. So she said nothing. But ever since they made out earlier, it made her somewhat curious.
There is a faint scent of Rikka on Haruka. Perhaps something happened between them? Even though he reported about getting a gift from her. He said nothing else. Wahh, the more she thinks about it, the more bothered she gets. Maybe something happened that he doesn't want her to know about.
B—but that something that happened is probably something intimate. He rarely hides things from her. Then again the first time they dated, he never told her what sort of new friends he made. Gah, the more she thought about it, the more her head hurts.
Ever since they became a couple, she has learned about the existence of many different emotions. There is plenty that isn't pleasant that makes her feel like screaming. But some make her feel so happy too. It really is conflicting.
Now that she thinks about it, that might be the part of his life that she doesn't know much about. Due to her grades, she got roped into becoming class representative and thus ended up being in charge of loads of events. Since she was doing such a good job of it, she ended up being made to help the student council a lot.
There was also that thing with Yumeko too. Gahhhhhh. Haruka must have noticed she was distracted since he extended his hand out. However, after thinking all those things, the scent seems to have gotten stronger, and she pushes his hand away.
Uwaaah? She offended him. Oh no, that's not it.
"Oh? What's this, you're both together."
They both turned to the source of the voice and found a cheerful-looking woman — blonde hair wearing a pink outfit. Her eyes widened when she saw Yumeko. Ah, that's right. She came back, no?
"Ah, we couldn't have our party. So you took this chance to go on a date. I just went to mass with Mother and my grandparents."
"That's right, your Christian Yumeko."
"Tonight it's Christmas, and that's why she's going to mass," Haruk wrapped his scarf around her, and Yumeko rolled her eyes.
"You should have done that earlier. Lila-chan is probably cold right now."
"Oh, right, happy Birthday."
"Thank you. It's okay to be late with the present."
Lila laughed, "I will send it over."
"Ah! This is so nice. I always dreamed of having my birthday and Christmas on the same day and going on a date with my boyfriend. But this year I'm with my family, don't I feel lonely?" Yumeko was joking around. But, it made her feel slightly bad.
At that comment, her sweatdropped. Uh, right. If she didn't appear before Haruka again, perhaps Yumeko would have eventually started to date Haruka. Lila thought that for the longest time.
Lila silently apologizes.
"It's alright. I'm not in a hurry."
"Who's going for a race during this season?" Yumeko trails of. "Ah, if you will look at lights. I'd suggest the ones on the Boulevard, they're really pretty."
Her eyes brightened when she hears those words. Pretty lights? Watching the lights with Haruka will be very romantic.
"You don't want to miss it. So why don't you two take a look?"
"Okay."
Yumeko sighed, "And also since I'm on this topic. Can you ask your friend to stop sneaking around me? He's always following me around. I'm not fragile enough that I need protection."
Lila sweatdropped at that comment. Well, she supposes it can't be helped. "I'll tell him."
"Then, have a good Christmas." With those words said, she watches as Yumeko walked off.
"She looked good," Haruka commented.
"Eh? Yeah. She's always energetic."
"When she was with me, Yumeko always looked stressed out. She always looked so gloomy. And I caused her a lot of pain too, using her as a substitute for you."
Lila sighed, "Why did you even do something like that?"
"Because I missed you wife... I missed you so much," Haruka muttered.
He is helpless without her, huh?
"But, really, maybe it was because of my jealousy. I wanted to destroy everything Atsuya had. He was my best friend, and yet he lived the life I wanted. Dark and ugly feelings consumed me."
Her gaze softened, and she reached over to embrace him lightly. "Haruka, I won't say it's okay. But, please remember look ahead. The future is the most important."
"That's true, thanks wife," he whispered some words in her and ear.
Oh, so that's it…
"Hey, did you have serious feelings for Yumeko?"
"Your nagging. But you already know the answer. I liked her, but as a friend. Otherwise, I wouldn't have spent time with her."
"Right, you said that before."
"She's a good person," Haruka nodded. "Back then, she took care of me even when I was a mess. Her falling in love with me wasn't part of the plan, though."
"Wasn't part of it, you were seducing her. Do you think anyone can resist if you seduce so openly like that?"
"Ah," Haruka lips curve to a smile. "I see you're talking about yourself, not Yumeko."
Lila rolled her eyes, "Don't talk like a player. I'll get angry."
"Sorry, wife," Haruka placed a gentle kiss on her cheeks. "I don't hate her even now. Back then I needed someone to vent my anger to. I blamed her for not stopping me. But no matter what, I cannot be together with anyone but you. Otherwise, we would have wronged her."
"We don't feel wronged," Lila pointed out. That's right, despite the awkwardness and those petty fights. She knew Yumeko wasn't blaming her or Haruka for anything. The girl stayed away to give them both space. Yumeko understands her insecurities better than anybody.
"You're as honest as ever, huh, my wife? Well, I'm glad you two are getting along now."
Come to think of it; he said something similar in the past, didn't he? In middle school..Of course, being the class representative means more significant interaction with the class and other members of the committee. It meant having a wider social circle. She was never good at making friends, and yet Haruka encouraged her to take on the role even if it meant having less time to spend together.
From the very start, he's always looked out for her. 'Why is this person misunderstood so easily, when he's actually so kind?' Lila always wondered why. But, now she understood why. It's because Haruka is only thinking of her. Since he spends so much time focusing on her, he neglects other factors. He unintentionally pushes the people who cares for him away.
