Three months later

Lila ran through the dark corridors desperate and hungry. She felt her heart pounding loudly and the sound of running water in her ears. It felt weird and she felt sick. Her legs and body were so small, she could not run very far. But she knew she had to keep running.

Mother said to go to the safe house.

But no matter how much she ran, she could not escape this hallway - no this building. Lila decided to take a short cut to the safe house but she did not think that she would end up stuck in this building.

She heard of hanyous with strange abilities, but Lila did not think one would catch her like this. Ever since she was younger she learned to protect herself. Who would have thought that things would end up like this now?

Is it because she let her guard down?

Lila felt something grab her leg, and she immediately fell down. When she glanced at the source, her eyes widened alarmed. It was not a human or a hanyou no it was one of their kind, but in its monstrous form.

A black shadow grabbed hold of her. Lila desperately tried to get it of but unfortunately she had no strength left. Is this truly the end? She can no longer summon her remaining strength.

Haruka-kun.. Haruka-kun鈥?br>
Before she could get swallowed up, a wind like piercing blade cut through the black shadow and her. This led to freeing her, in seconds Lila felt somebody no the wind lift her of the ground. In seconds she was in the arms of a familiar boy.

"Haruka-kun?"

The look in his eyes was dangerous despite how gentle his hold on her waist was. Ah, it really is him. To think she would see him again. Just now she truly felt like it was the end, she thought she would no longer be able to see him.

"We should be fine here for awhile." Haruka closed the door behind them and sealed it shut.

"Okay."

Haruka extended his hand out and flicked her forehead. "Stupid!" He lectured. "I cant believe you rushed of like that."

"But mother told me---"

"She didn't tell you to go alone. She asked you to wait for me."

Wh--- why is he lecturing her for? How mean! Just now she experienced a life and death situation.

"What's with that face?"

"I just thought how much of a bully you are. Iam still recovering from the shock of what happened just there and still scared. The least you can do is treat me kindly鈥? Her sentence fell short when she he suddenly kissed her forehead.

"You were scared?"

At that comment her eyes widened and she struggled to keep a straight face. "Yes."

"I am sorry I left you alone today. I didn't think it would take that long."

Lila shook her head. "It's okay, Ren-san asked you so of course you had to go."

"Why do you like the old man so much? I don't understand." Haruka mumbled irritated.

Ah, so that's what the problem is? Is he jealous? Lila laughed softly. "Um, well Ren-san is nice but I like you more Haruka-kun."

"Huh?"

"I said I like you more."

"I heard that but your--" Haruka trailed off and sighed. "For a child you sure talk big."

Ahh? Is he making fun of her again? Lila was about to comment when he felt her caress her hair. "Uh.."

"I heard this is a good way to comfort somebody when they are scared."

Lila blinked. 'This person is very awkward.' But, his actions are warm. Just now when she felt like the entire world was ending, his face came to mind. Then he appeared right before her.

"Say Haruka, do you think I'm scary?"

"No, I think you're cute and need protecting."

This is the first time ever that she was feeling like this. Such a warmth and wave of light that fills her body. Although she doesn't know what kind of colour or power he has, there was something about it that was rather soothing. Something, familiar about it. Ah, that's right. From the very beginning she always wanted to draw this person - from when they first met. She already noticed that there was something different about him then all the others.

"Me, too." She mutters." I don't want to let go of you...I want to stay by your side!"

Ah it doesn't make any sense.

She doesn't understand what this was.

"Lila, stay here for a bit. Let me check it out."

She looked at him with a panicked expression. "But-- uh..."

"Ssh, I'll only be gone for thirty minutes. If I don't come back at an hour max, then you leave." Haruka placed something in her palm.

...

Three hours later

Lila knew she could no longer hold it back. He said thirty minutes and an hour max. Why isn't he back yet?

"Uu..."

She instantly rushed up to him, examining the wounds on his body to be quite severe. As she got closer, she confirmed her suspicions.

"These awful wounds...what happened!? Haruka, get a hold of yourself!"

Just a few minutes ago though, it appeared as though there was sudden movement in Pandoras box. Then...it suddenly stopped, could it be that Haruka was the one who did something?

Is this what caused him to end up in a battered condition like this? Indeed having power is a double edged sword, if the user isn't careful. It can turn against you.

"Aha, it really is...Lila. ...I wonder if I'm finally dead... If I'm dead, that's fine...do as you like."

"Haruka-kun."

Lila didn't get a chance to say anything, since he suddenly hugged her and laces their hands together, " I know that I'm not qualified to stay by the Queen side. But I still don't want to let go of you. I thought I'd never be able to hug you again with this hand...I'm happy."

At that comment her violet orbs went wide. He called her the queen, that means Haruka knows right?

"I...thought...I would never see you again...

I've...finally met you. I wanted this for so long."

Haruka is hugging her.

He's hugging her so very carefully and yet so closely. He is holding her a piece of glass that could slip away at anytime.

Holding her like this as though she is someone precious.

"I can't. So I understand...that it's pointless for me to stay by your side. But...."

"Pointless...what!? I don't care about that King and Queen stuff. I want to be with you...!" Lila exclaimed.

Although, they can't be together that way. She still wants to be able to stay beside him. Ah, is that selfish of her she wonders?

"But, it hurts Lila. It hurts when you're not with me. You're my light, I can't live without you."

This was the first time she had ever seen him - no there were two times in the past she witnessed his tears. But even then he tried to hide it from her. This was the first time she truly saw it.

'What more...it's about me...' Haruka is crying for her sake.
