Chapter 25

“Yes.”

“Mr. Stud can’t work right now, right?”

“Yes, that’s why the Duke…”

It was when Helena was trying to explain the situation properly, the countess suddenly turned her gaze to the crowd of passerby and said,

“Goodness, Duke Bronant just passed by! Duke! Please come this way!”

Helena was greatly perplexed.

It never occurred to her that the Duke of Bronant would be attending a tea party. Not surprisingly, the Duke didn’t like social gatherings, and he seldom showed up at tea parties.

In fact, Duke Bronant’s attendance was truly unusual. The reason the duke appeared this time was because the long-dead duke’s mother and the Countess of Cashford were close relatives.

The Countess insisted on the duke that he must attend her tea party since he had already come to the Royal Capital. Of course, Helena didn’t know that.

The Duke of Bronant turned his head at the call of the countess and walked briskly. Helena’s face turned white in an instant.

The duke who was walking then stopped for a moment. She felt her heart pounding and dropping. It was because the duke seemed to recognize her.

“What did you call me for?”

The Duke of Bronant, who finally came closer, asked the countess.

“We were just talking about the duke.”

“What about me?”

The duke raised one of his brows and turned to the side where Helena was, and Helena was at a loss for what to do. But the Countess of Cashford, who knew nothing, said with a nice smile.

“I recently heard about the rumor about the duke ordering clothes at <Book of Knights>. I was asking Miss Helena what was going on. Come on, think of it, the duke hasn’t even met Miss Helena yet, right? Raynor Stud can’t run <Book of Knights> right now, so I was asking his daughter.”

Helena couldn’t even breathe properly.

The duke’s dark eyes stared at her. It was an intense gaze that seemed to pierce through her. Her chest felt tightened with suffocating tension.

What if he finds out? She hoped that he would not get angry in front of the countess or reveal her identity. While her heart was beating wildly, her mind was so complicated that it felt like it was going to explode.

But the duke just nodded lightly.

“Nice to meet you. Miss Helena.”

Helena quickly grabbed the hem of her skirt and bowed her head.

“Helena Stud greets the Duke.”

“Last time, I heard about the accident from the apprentice tailor from <Book of Knights>. How is your father’s condition?”

“Thanks to your concern, my father has improved a lot now. My father is not yet able to make clothes by himself, but he is now able to talk to the apprentices at home and give them instruction one by one.”

Helena tried desperately to speak calmly.

“That’s nice to hear. I wish your father well. I’m also looking forward to my clothes.”

“Thank you, Duke.”

Helena answered, not knowing what she was talking about. The duke seemed to have said all he had to say, so Helena returned her attention to the countess.
