Chapter 183
The Jolly Roger was formidable, but it couldn't withstand the onslaught from James and the Siege Snake. The Jolly Roger was a first-floor world Boss, putting its level at 20. Under fire from 60 cannons, manned by players that were all in the 20s for level, the enemy world boss fell quickly.
As the ship shattered apart, sending jolly rancher shards, from both the ship, and the skeletal jolly rancher pirates that had manned the ship, James turned his attention back to the rest of the battlefield. BLANKs forces weren't doing good. In fact, as James watched wide eyed, he realized BLANKs forces were losing, badly.
Part of that was because of the chaos the mech army and flying monkey air support was causing on the battlefield. Enemy players were doing their best to line up, to fight back, but there wasn't anything for them to focus fire on. AOE spells were being launched, but no one was focusing their damage on single targets. AOE damage was easily healed by James's own healers. And without BLANKs players targeting individual targets, which they would have then been able to burn down quite quickly, there wasn't any slowing the mech army James had brough to the battlefield.
Like a mechanized wall of death, Zaku's, piloted by James's players, waded into the enemy forces. Each of the Zaku's was roughly 15 feet in height, massive humanoid mechs armed with various weapons. It seemed the weapons, and style of the Zaku's was dependent on the level of the players manning them.
For the level 10-19 players, it seemed they were in a very basic Zaku, and were armed with just a basic, massive metal axe. Levels 20-29 seemed to have a beam pistol, as well as a beam sword. Levels 30 and above were armed with a massive shield, a large cannon, and their choice it seemed of axe or sword. As for anyone under level 10, of which there were are few… well they were in what appeared to be the even lower form of the Zaku…the Zaku tank. That is, they had a lower portion that was very tank like, including the tank tread setup for movement, while their upper portion was a smaller zaku form. They had small machine guns on their shoulders, which were firing less than effective rounds into enemy forces. Which was to be expected of low-level players in a massive, high level brawl. But hey, they were doing what they could. James already knew he was going to build more of those mech buildings when he could, and really was looking forward to upgrading the facility.
Explosions rocked the battlefield as the Jolly Roger crashed into the ground. Another explosion followed shortly, as a group of Zaku's burst apart in a golden glow. The biggest threat on the battlefield, at least currently, was The Candied King. Even as he tried to order more forces to the front line, his Da Breakers actually managing to slow the Zaku's by a fraction, he was also killing his own players to launch his magical attacks at James's forces. Every time one of his Holy Hand grenades impacted, half a dozen players from James's side were reduced to nothing. It seemed that if a player was under level 25, they were just instakilled by that move. It really seemed to hurt.
Luckily, James's forces were taking out more of BLANKs forces than The Candied King could kill. Additionally, James had noticed Grandma Jenkins' thread barrier had once again appeared on the battlefield. Given the strength of BLANKs players, or lack thereof when it came to high level players, he knew that Exodia would once again be joining the battlefield. And honestly, James was pretty sure only the two enemy Avatars could take down that massive beast. It was level 35, and a unique boss mechanic mob after all. It also seemed that every time a red thread had attached to a player, Exodia's health, and attributes had all increased. In other words, Exodia was a gamechanger on a battlefield like this.
\"You will not defeat us.\" The Candied King cried out defiantly, his scepter raised high. The colorful lights erupted from it, creating a path of death and destruction in its rainbowy wake. Alright, so his Holy Hand Grenade could kill half a dozen Zaku's, but that color spray attack had just wiped out a dozen or so.
\"You've lost this round, Candied King.\" James called back, standing high on his Siege Snake as it turned once more, allowing all thirty cannons to launch their deadly attacks. Da Breakers, players, and Skittlers were blasted apart, raining candy pieces down all of the players in the area. Da Breakers were predominately a defensive mob, though James knew they had a rather dangerous rolling attack, as well as some nasty aoe explosions similar to James's sacrificial lambs when they died. The skittlers, on the other hand, were rainbow colored orbs which combined into groups of seven, either as a rainbow of colors, or seven of one color. They would then begin circling midair, and launching beams of energy appropriate to the color of the skittlers at the enemies.
Luckily, while those had a high offensive power, as well as the ability to add some nasty debuffs and effects depending on the color of their beam, they were rather easy to kill. James was guessing they were one of BLANK's low tiered mobs, that had a grouping bonus similar to his dickens. Combined, Skittlers and Da Breakers would have created quite the imposing line. But luckily for James and his players, BLANK hadn't had the time, or ability, to convince his players to summon the army James was sure the duo had wanted to summon. Ah well, their loss.
\"There's no way you will defeat us! We've got the high ground.\" The Candied King called back, his scepter raised and glowing again. He pointed towards Voltron, which was locked in an epic battled against The Candied Queen. The two were clashing with unbelievable force, and James could see players on both side had given the two giants a wide berth, though the players also seemed to be doing their best to try and figure out how to aid their respective fighter. Some of the Candied Queen's armor was showing damage, while Voltron had deep gashes that were sparking dangerously.
James watched as a beam of light shot forth from The Candied King's hand, the long range, single target Paladin imprisonment spell. If it hit Voltron, James knew that the Candied Queen would be able to make short work of the massive mech. It wouldn't spell defeat for James's side, but it would probably be a hit to his force's morale. James also just didn't want his favorite adventurers to go down in such an…un-epic way.
Just as the beam of light neared Voltron, James saw a rapid movement, accompanied by a wild screaming sound, rocket towards Voltron. The two collided just before Voltron, who had been completely unaware of the incoming attack, so focused were The Knights Who Go Ni on the Candied Queen.
James watched as a funky monkey fell to the ground, caught in the golden prison, while a voice hollered from above. \"Actually,\" MercerEffect's voice was filled with humor as he spoke. \"That's where you're wrong. Let's start over at the beginning.\" A split second later, James heard a rapid a quick succession of gunshots as the gunslinger unloaded multiple shots into a surprised Candied Queen.
