Dungeon Master Makeup Money

Lesson 3: Kids' Struggle - Before

Three children walk in the meadows.

Their names are Elmer, Gem, and Jilly.

I've been an adventurer for a long time... but I was just an adventurer registering at the lower end, which mainly carries luggage for clutter and veteran adventurers like I could do all over the city, but Gem and Jilly invited me to become adventurers as well.

The first request is to collect herbs. That's a pretty easy category too.

The subject's herbs can be easily obtained by going as far as the meadows not so far from the city.

But in order to get there, we need to move on to a meadow that is not in place.

The journey is quite tiring.

Besides, the herbs themselves are inexpensive and traded, so the rewards are low, and the top adventurers who are physically fit won't take it on.

For that reason, it's the newcomer adventurers who take on these kinds of requests.

The new adventurer walks down the road darkening his expression to a lesser reward for his hard work.

"We've never taken on a request on our own like this"

"You've been helping someone before, haven't you?"

Gem and Jilly were cheerfully on their way to their destination.

Sometimes if someone doesn't treat you, you only get a small reward for tyranny. If you finish the request, the reward will remain at their disposal.

Besides, we're not going to put everything into our own nostalgia.

"Remember, both of you, we took on a request to repay Mr. Mars and the others as soon as possible."

"" Yes ""

As Elmer put it, the reward was meant to be used to pay off their debts.

As a thank you to Elmer when he was about to be sold as a criminal slave, Gem and Jilly paid for treating their wounds.

Things were different. I was in debt.

Nevertheless, that is not the only debt.

"I'm sure you'll all stay really well taken care of."

Jilly squeaked smugly.

All the necessary meals, clothes, and places to live with roofs were provided by the Mars as the three of them lived. It was like paradise for Jilly to think that the days when she didn't have a job in a place without a roof were the days when she fished for garbage.

I want to repay you at all.

The three people who thought about it decided to take the request.

There is only a small reward.

Still, this was about all we could do right now.

After walking for about three hours, I reached my destination.

"Wow!"

There were colorful flowers blooming there.

Due to its magical power, this place has long been an amazing place for various plants to grow and even if they were picked up, they would be back on track in a few days.

Jilly's eyes shine on a beautiful sight I've never seen before.

Girls are young in places like this. My heart is taken away from beautiful things.

"Jilly."

"Ha, I was! Which medicinal herbs are you after?

"Wait a minute."

Asked Elmer takes one piece of paper out of his back backpack.

The paper was carefully painted with medicinal herbs. It was handcrafted by the Adventurer's Guild receptionist for the requested children.

Find the desired herb as Elmer gives in and compares it to a painting painted on paper.

"There was."

The herb was found immediately because of its characteristic gizzards.

"The content of the request is twenty bundles of this. Can you find it?"

"Naturally, let's compete over who can find more."

"Oh, hey..."

Gem ran out before Jilly stopped.

It was simply full of motivation, not out of self-esteem such as wanting to make a little more money.

"All right, good stuff like this"

It was a request that the three of us split up and look for it and it would be over in a few dozen minutes.

But we'll take another three hours from here to get back to the city.

That brings me to the end of most of the day.

"Mmm..."

I raise my face when I notice signs of Elmer approaching me.

When it came to reading the signs, Ira was trained as neatly as swordsmanship.

After all, it was the man-shaped demon with the dog's face - Kobolt - who showed up.

"Why are you here..."

Gem, who worked as a veteran adventurer's small-time user, knew the horrors of demons.

We were caught off guard.

It was supposed to be a safe request to stay away from where the demon was going. But its territory is also not absolute. This is how the demon appeared.

Cobolt is basically a demon who acts in multiple herds. But only one cobolt showed up in front of the three of us. Perhaps you've come to a place where demons don't usually come close because you've strayed from the herd.

Cobolt and Elmer gaze at each other.

At the next moment, Cobolt rushes out with his sharp fangs and nails.

"Jilly is ready for magic. Me and Gem intercept."

"Don't give me orders!

"The leader is me. Mr. Mars would have told us to follow our leader's orders in an emergency."

The course of action in times of need was predetermined.

Elmer was not fit for age and smart and had the power to be seen things calmly. By contrast, Gem had a slight temper, as can be seen from the fact that he had easily laid his hands on the Devil's Sword, and had been judged not to be very good for leaders.

For that reason Elmer had been appointed leader by Mars, his guardian.

"Both of you, that's it for the fight"

Jilly's drink flies.

Elmer wields his sword from left to right against the cobolt approaching directly from the front.

Anyway, it's important that you stay away from Jilly behind you. It was an attack with that in mind.

Cobolt jumps over the sword and dodges.

"What are you doing!

A gem waves his sword as he was trying to hide behind Elmer against the jumped cobolt. The aim is belly. He taught Jem the sword. Sometimes Illis didn't have time to teach him to put the sword first anyway.

The sword hits the belly of Kobolt for the merit of his guidance.

A slashed cobolt rolls down the ground.

"Yay!

I slaughtered the demon for the first time.

I felt like I was just a little closer to my job as an admired adventurer.

But...

"Oh no...!

Cobolt standing up holding down his slashed belly.

The sword Elmer and Jilly have is the cheap sword Mars bought me. It was a level sword that was not strange for a new adventurer to have. It was a consideration to ensure that there was no such thing as being swept by a sword because it had a strong performance sword from within the lack of strength.

But the consideration became a vendetta.

With a cheap sword, I didn't get to tailor the cobolt. If it had been Ira the most, even the cheap sword could have easily slashed the cobolt. Still, it was purely Jilly's lack of strength that Cobolt was alive.

"I'll buy you some time!

Elmer screams.

Cobolt's attention flies to Elmer.

Elmer jumps back and runs away.

When I knock on the ground and make sure Elmer is not there, I move my neck to the left and right to find it.

"Huh!

Gem sticks his sword out from behind Kobolt.

If you get dodged with a piece of paper, Kobolt kicks you and rolls you down the ground.

Cobolt runs on the ground to hang the chase.

"Go."

Elmer slaps the running cobolt with his sword from the side.

Stand to protect the falling gem while the cobolt is away.

"You... how could you"

"I'm not going to run away because I'm a leader."

You two are never close.

I was simply rebelling for no reason.

Still, Jilly is desperate to hold it between us. Above all, we make an effort to get along because our own parents are the same person.

So - I don't imitate abandonment.

"And I'm done."

"Huh..."

"Earthpillar"

Magic activated after the chant - a thorn grown from the ground skewers Kobolt's body.

The child's sword did not lead to a fatal wound, but the magical attack had definitely stopped Kobolt's breath root.
