Lesson 5: The City of Urca

Urca, a city on the north end.

A city that makes a living hunting for mountain vegetables, plants and rare meats that are obtained in the vast Noswell Mountains.

It was still busy today.

I look out of the city at the state of it.

"That's normal."

"Right."

Sylvia snorts at my words.

The story of the destruction of a nearby village should also be conveyed to the people of the city. But there was no way to escape, and I relaxed and had my usual routine.

"Welcome, Urkahe. What did you do this time?

A bright young man's gatekeeper talks to me.

It's a big city, so it needs to be examined when entering.

"I'm an adventurer. This time, I'm here to take on a request and crusade the dragon."

"Are you...?

I'll be surprised to see this one, so I'll show you my adventurer card. Which way, when I dive through the gate, I need it as an ID.

Then the gatekeeper's eyes, who confirmed our rank, open from surprise.

"And excuse me!

I guess you didn't decide you were a high-ranking adventurer from the looks of it.

"I'd like to go to the Adventurer Guild, can you tell me where it is?

"Then continue straight down the main street in front of the gate. on the other side, but on the north side."

Coming from the south, we were allowed to enter through the city's south gate.

It's on the north side, because I can tell. Many of the adventurers working in this city have received requests in the Northwell Mountains to the north. Because of this, it is based on the north side, which is easy to wholesale.

After a short walk through the city, you will reach the Adventurer Guild.

It was easy to find because not every guild has that much difference.

"Welcome"

A brown-haired receptionist sitting at the central counter greets me.

There is a receptionist sitting next to both, but the counter next to it was both vacant. A peek in the back seems to be busier on the back now because he's moving around busily.

"You're new here. What can I do for you?

"I'm an adventurer at the request of the Dragon Crusade. Can you tell me what the current situation is?

The dragon is a very powerful demon.

As a result, adventurers without strength are not disclosing information to low-ranking adventurers to avoid darkness challenging them to dragons, so Luti told them beforehand that the adventurer card is "A-rank".

"Is it real?

I didn't know what the details meant, but I snort because it's not a fake adventurer card.

Apparently, the receptionist was a veteran, and calmly retrieves the material from under the counter of something that only frowns for a moment by checking the ranks of the four of us. It was prepared in advance because it is the most needed information right now.

"The beginning of the matter is ten days ago. We have confirmed the appearance of many demons coming down the Noswell Mountains. At that time, I decided it was a demonic outburst (stampede), and I dealt with it with a total adventurer in Urca."

Fortunately, I could see a demon coming down the mountain from afar. The villagers were allowed to flee to Urca in advance and, thanks to a united response, they were able to converge things without causing human damage about the village being somewhat vandalized.

The cause of stampede was then explored by adventurers who were good at scouting.

Without confirming what caused the rampage, it cannot be true that it converged. Maybe it will recur.

The adventurer who came out to scout was excellent.

That's why we were able to find the dragon that caused the runoff early.

"The demons who came down from the mountains in the runoff were demons who were driven out of their territory by dragons."

It's unlikely that a runoff will recur if they just kick the territory out.

But the problem is the dragon.

What scouts saw was a mountain range occupied by ten dragons.

Villages that have only an easy wall just because the whole thing in them has come down from the mountains will be destroyed. Even in a city with exterior walls, if it is attacked from the sky, there will be no one left.

"It's true there's a dragon."

"I'm definitely here. A crusaded dragon has already been delivered."

That's what I say. A receptionist taking a seat.

Go to the back of the ground floor and tell them to follow me, so follow me.

In the warehouse in the back there was a corpse of a green dragon that bled from all over his body and ran out of breath. There are signs of being slashed or slapped many times, vivid but I guess I couldn't have killed him if I hadn't done this much damage.

What matters now is the fact that there's a dragon body here.

"This is a dragon crusaded yesterday. This dragon was coming down from the mountains as a reconnaissance, confirming a nearby village."

"I think if I had such a big demon, I'd notice..."

The dragon is huge. I don't know exactly because it's falling, but it looks like it's about ten meters long. There are only a few places where such big demons can be hidden, and if they fly through the sky like dragons, they don't have to be scouts to find them.

"That's not what it is."

According to the receptionist's explanation, this green dragon has the ability to dilute the signs, and even flying near the village, the villagers didn't notice at all. Such dragons could be noticed because there were adventurers sent to defend the village.

One of the villages close to the mountain range decided to strengthen the village's defence by being devastated. Even if he couldn't leave the dragon that attacked the village, he noticed the proximity of the dragon, and at least the plan was to keep humans alive.

The plan worked and the adventurer noticed the dragon he was scouting and decided to evacuate him.

But the moment I saw a man fleeing was a bad idea, the dragon that was scouting hit me.

Impossible behavior for a human being.

No, it can't be the very fact that the dragons are doing reconnaissance in the first place.

In the end, it was necessary to crusade the dragon in order to keep the villagers alive.

Adventurers who were staying in that village. Besides, the dragons were crusaded by the hands of adventurers and knights who rushed from Urca to rescue them.

"At that time, we succeeded in crusading without letting the dead out, but a few seriously wounded. The majority are injured by it. I've drained a lot of my power to crusade just one dragon. Given this situation, it's reckless to fight multiple dragons with your current power."

Many adventurers came after being fished by gold.

So, the power lost when fighting the green dragon could be replenished.

However, if many adventurers are known to have been injured to crusade just one dragon, there will be others who will escape.

"This morning, we're even coming up with the idea of abandoning cities and villages and running away. But even here, the dragons just prey on me, so I know what it's like to have that opinion."

Running away, it's not easy to say.

It is difficult to accept new inhabitants, like Alistair, where the reception of people fleeing the three villages devastated by demons was temporary. If that's dozens or hundreds of people, you'll get a gate advance.

I mean, there's just a hard life waiting for you to run away.

Apparently some of those with negative thoughts even chose to die here.

That's all the Urca people were being hunted down.

"Okay. Let's do something about it."

"Is it true! Thank you."

The receptionist's face makes me smile.

Just four adventurers will be delighted to join us.

"I certainly wouldn't be so happy if just a regular A-rank adventurer came along. But I was hoping for Mr. Mars' party."

A party that has already defeated giant demons like dragons many times.

The Adventurer Guild has a record of what adventurers have been asked to succeed so far. The Urkan Adventurer Alliance staff learned that fact at the time we took on the request.

"The only thing that still remains without escape is because I knew Mr. Mars and the others would come. You just have to endure it for a few more days. That's what I thought, but it helped me come sooner than I expected."

It was worth the hurry to get here.

Exactly. I thought the two days of forcible forces were too much, but it's not sneaky considering their burden to multiply by any more days.

"First of all, how strong is the dragon...... hmm?

"Mr. Mars."

For once, Sylvia calls her name because she's in front of the receptionist.

"What's up?

"I feel one powerful sign outside"

Looks like we got there and got in trouble early.
