Eagle of the Valley of Ice and Fire

Chapter 106 Wolf Eagle Agreement

Between the cracks of the dead wood, a wisp of gray smoke lost its roots and disappeared in mid-air.

The Western Border soldier stepped lightly on the firewood pile, spreading the black ash on the ground. The soldier showed his pale temples. He was an old soldier.

"Without the fire, we will freeze to death in the wild." Someone in the crowd sitting around the big tree said.

The Western Border soldiers who were huddled together trembled, and someone in the crowd responded, "Make some more fire, old man."

The old soldier ignored the group of remnants who were scattered by the cavalry of the young wolf lord and gathered together from all directions. There was even a knight among them.

"What's your name, old man?" The knight in the crowd said, and the old soldier looked at him. The knight's armor had been stained with mud, and the armband on his chest could barely be seen as a scorpion tail beast.

The Lodge family, a relative of that bastard Amory Lodge, the old soldier thought to himself.

"Answer Sir Laurent's question, old man." The young man next to Sir Laurent said, obviously a squire following the knight, or a lackey.

The old soldier stopped, "Murray, my name is Murray, Sir." He lowered his head humbly. Years of conscription have made him practice this set of actions and this temper.

Sir Laurent picked up the water bag and poured a few sips into his mouth, "It's too cold, let's make a fire."

His squire shook his armor and stood up.

"Fire will attract wolves, Sir," Murray raised his arm, unwilling to let the squire come over.

"This is very close to the Branded City, there are no enemies." Sir Laurent shrugged tightly, he was so cold that he trembled when he spoke, and his teeth were chattering.

"The young wolf lord's cavalry is elusive, not to mention the wolves." The old soldier looked at the knight cautiously and reminded.

"No cavalry," Sir Laurent was impatient, he pursed his lips, "No wolves."

The squire drew his sword, "Get out of the way, old man!" He pushed Murray away, took out an object from his pocket, and rubbed it against the branches on the firewood.

The sparks ignited again, and the firewood pile rose again. The old soldier silently stayed away from the fire, consciously huddled in the cold, watching the remnants of the Westerland who rushed over as if to eat the fire.

The squire was praised by the knight, raised his eyebrows proudly, held the water bag rewarded by the knight, and drank it in big gulps.

The old soldier ignored these ignorant guys. There was even a thirteen-year-old boy in the crowd. This was still the age when he should be playing carefree in the streets and alleys. He was about the same age as his grandson, but he left his home and came to this hellhole.

"Come and roast, knight." The naive thirteen-year-old boy actually called him that.

"I'm not a knight," the old soldier Murray snorted coldly, "I'm not cold." He held back his trembling teeth.

Sir Laurent's servant stood up at this time, whistling, humming the tune of the bear and the beautiful girl, and walked towards the deep forest, probably to relieve himself.

The whistle stopped abruptly, and Murray looked into the distance vigilantly.

The wind blew the grass, and the cold came again. Murray tightly used the big tree to support his body that was cramped due to the cold.

The yellow pupils were like dark will-o'-the-wisp, staring at him.

Wolf! Murray stood up in shock, "It's a wolf!" he shouted loudly.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

The ice wolf was like a ghost in the dark forest, stealing the lives of one person after another without anyone noticing.

"Help!" The thirteen-year-old boy shouted, but it was too late. Murray saw with his own eyes that the ice wolf's front paws tore the boy's throat.

The old soldier took out his sword, "Go and meet the enemy!" He knew that running was useless, and his teeth kept chattering, not knowing whether it was cold or fear.

The servant's private parts were thrown into the air by the wolf and fell on Sir Laurent's helmet.

"Damn it!" Laurent Lodge cursed, but his body was thrown down at the moment of moving, and the flesh and blood in his throat were torn to pieces.

The yellow pupils met him again.

The old soldier threw down his sword, knelt on his knees, and muttered, "God bless, Holy Mother, warrior, what father is there for the old woman, what god is there for the old god Red God, bless me to overcome the difficulties, my grandson of Lannis Port" He closed his eyes, prayed to God, and gave up resistance.

The cold touch spread on his cheeks, he did not feel the warm tongue of the dire wolf, it was more like a sword.

"Open your eyes, soldier." The young and somewhat immature voice sounded above his head.

Murray opened his eyes, and what came into view was a pair of capable eyes and red hair.

Robb Stark. Young Wolf Lord, Murray said secretly in his heart.

"You are our captive." said the young leader.

"I think it is a very good marriage to marry Princess Myrcella to you. All the nobles in King's Landing praise Princess Myrcella's virtue, magnanimity and beauty." Maester Komon of the Eyrie said respectfully to Attis, and he was still secretly looking at Lady Catelyn standing beside him.

The floor of the Eyrie Hall was paved with gorgeous white stones, and fine lines twisted on the white stones, like a long worm crawling, or a deep whirlpool on the sea.

Catelyn looked at Maester Komon in disbelief, "Maester Komon, I respect you, but you can't ignore the facts," she looked at Artis again, "Lord Stannis Baratheon has sent a letter to inform the Seven Kingdoms that Joffrey Baratheon, who now sits on the Iron Throne, is the son of Cersei's incest, not King Robert's son."

"All the nobles in the Seven Kingdoms know who this argument benefits the most," Tyrion's lobbyist seemed a little disdainful and said calmly, "Uncle wants to bully nephew, who can't see this?"

Caitlin ignored it and said directly: "The so-called king of King's Landing hung the head of King Robert's best brother on the city gate and framed him for treason and usurpation. Isn't this his cruel and cruel nature?"

She took a few steps forward and looked up at Attis, "Duke Attis Arryn, aren't we raising our troops together to attack Joffrey and Lannister to seek justice for Ed? I suggest Throw this messenger down the moon gate immediately!"

Tyrion's envoy swallowed and looked at the Duke in the valley, "I have not heard that Duke Attis Arryn sent troops to assist the traitors. I'm afraid this is just a private act of Yorn Royce and has nothing to do with the Duke. ”

Kemon coughed slightly, looked at Attis, and said step by step according to the script: "There are three kings now, Joffrey Baratheon."

"Joffrey Lannister, or the name of a certain bastard, Hishan or Weishui." Caitlin reacted quickly.

"Sorry, madam, I'm not good at playing this kind of word game. There are two kings, Stannis Baratheon and Renly Baratheon, but only one of these kings has the Archbishop, which is the Seven Gods. "The crowning and recognition," Ke Meng said, "In the valley where the belief in the Seven Gods is strong, the nobles and the people of the valley are watching."

Attis nodded slightly. In Caitlin's view, this action was extremely dangerous, which meant that Attis Arryn, who was guarding Robb's retreat, was beginning to waver.

She hurriedly said: "Duke Attis, please think carefully. Renly's hundred thousand troops are approaching King's Landing. My son is sweeping the vulnerable Lannister army in the west. Stannis is pressing King's Landing on the sea. Lannis is approaching King's Landing." It will surely perish and there will be no chance of a comeback.”

Caitlin's nerves would be tense because of her relatives, and her mind might become much sharper because of it.

Artis looked at the anxious Caitlin and smiled slightly in his heart. He knew that the fish was taking the bait.

He coughed lightly, "It's not that I don't want to avenge Lord Eddard, it's just that the truth of the matter is unknown." Attis deliberately avoided Caitlin's talk about the defeat of the West, giving Tyrion's envoy some room for words, "Besides, I have occupied a large piece of land like the Tully family, which is your family, and I have also started to let the knights of the valley be granted titles in the Green Fork River area. If"

Looking at Caitlin's eager eyes, Artis continued: "If there is no deeper connection, the friendship between the fathers alone may not be enough to reassure the valley."

"That's the truth." Bachelor Kemen nodded in agreement and looked at Caitlin with a smile. He and Master Attis cooperated well.

"Arya and Robin's engagement," Catelyn said with some confusion.

Kemon shook his head, "Arya is your youngest daughter, but Robin is the first heir to Duke Attis. This is not equitable. We need the sincerity of the North, Lady Catelyn."

Catelyn turned her head, "Maester, I don't understand."

"Bran Stark should come to the Eagle's Nest to serve as Master Attis's servant. The one who marries the Valley should not be your youngest daughter, but your eldest son."

Catelyn frowned, "Robb, there is no girl of the right age in the Arryn family."

Attis held the letter in his hand. In his eyes, Bronze Jon's request was like charcoal falling into his hand. It was hot and needed to be dealt with urgently.

Artis would give it as a favor, but the price would have to be borne by the Royce family.

The wealthy knights in the Green Fork River area were enfeoffed, and there was no place for the knights of the Royce family. This selfish Attis would satisfy him, since he mentioned it.

But the price is also necessary.

In contrast, knights who have deep connections with other nobles in the valley, such as the Hunter family, the Corbray family, and even the Grafson family, will receive generous rewards from the previous Three Rivers Battle.

"Assina Royce, Lord Yohn's daughter, unmarried, of the right age." Bachelor Cormon said on his behalf.

"If not," Maester Kemen said helplessly, "the union of the wolf and the eagle will look like it is all connected by illusory things. There is no real guarantee of the land of the Green Fork River, and there is no new bond of marriage. A union sanctioned by the Seven Gods.”

Messenger Tyrion has realized that he seems to be a destined foil in this negotiation.

"I will mention this to Robb." Catelyn took a deep breath and said to Attis.

Attis nodded and hid his gaze, "Lord Eddard was my father's adopted son and my brother. He died in King's Landing under Joffrey's fire. I will not forgive him."

"Please come back, Tyrion's messenger," Attis said. "If you do not want to jump from the moon gate, convey this news to your master."

The messenger moved and left the hall of the Eagle's Nest City.

"The marriage of Arya and Robin, the marriage of Jathena and Robb, the valley and the north are the bonds for generations to come. I hope to start building them here, Lady Catelyn." Maester Cormon's lips were full of smiles.

Catelyn forced a smile. She thought of Robb who was blocked from the Green Fork and the Twins, and a bitter taste spread in her heart.

On the castle of Branded City, the fluttering golden lion flag fell and was replaced by the direwolf flag that gradually rose.

"Assina Royce is a young and beautiful girl. I met her once at the banquet in Runestone," Daisy Mormont said to Robb, rubbing her sword.

The Young Wolf Master held the handle of the wine glass in his hand. "The troops in the Riverlands cannot be fully mobilized." He looked at the map calmly. "Most of them are guarding their own territory. A group of Demon Mountain leaders appeared in the Riverlands." Bandits plagued their castles and farmlands."

Lord Rickard Karstark stroked his long beard, "Cowards are like this," he said disdainfully, "The army of real northerners is separated by the entire Green Fork River. Roose Bolton's logistics are controlled by the Arryns, and our rear is also exposed to the horses of the Vale people. Davon of the Lannister family is indeed capable. He used the terrain to sneak attack the infantry of the riverlands. Our cavalry is too far away from the soldiers of the riverlands."

"Davon Lannister dug deep trenches. He knew that we would not occupy the castle for long and would move away. He chose to set up ambushes and fight a dull battle, defending or ambushing the road leaving the mountain pass in the west." Robb said, his eyes were full of the layout of various forces on the map.

"The Great Jon's vanguard is too far away from us. If he fights further north, he can fight back to the North." Seeing that these men ignored her words, Daisy Mormont echoed.

"We don't have many cavalry, and we are scattered now." Robb frowned and moved his neck uneasily.

"Insufficient troops, in the final analysis." Rickard Karstark said.

"Tell my mother that I agree with Artis Arryn's conditions, but I hope that the Vale can further join us and attack King's Landing together." Robb said to Daisy Mormont, he paused, "We shouldn't be so scattered, go to the Rock, join the Great Jon, and let my uncle Brynden lead the army along the Tumblestone River to meet."

Robb pointed to the map, "Davon Lannister can only defend but not attack. He held the Golden Tooth City and let the nobles of the riverlands guard their own castles. The Lannister Westerland garrison could not come out, and we..."

He sighed secretly. If he caught Jaime Lannister, he might be able to take the strategic initiative first, but unfortunately he didn't.

"Now, Tywin Lannister's 20,000 troops are fighting alone, and we can't lose contact with Lord Roose's army for too long. Since Renly is unreliable, the first decisive battle will be initiated by us northerners." Robb's eyes were fixed on King's Landing. He wanted to concentrate the power of the North and the Vale to completely destroy the main force of Lannister.

Robb looked at everyone, "The Rock is easy to defend but difficult to attack. Although the Great Jon is brave, a thousand cavalrymen are still too risky. We should rest for a while and set off tomorrow."

"Yes!"
