Empire of Shadows

#217 - Monthly Summary

August Summary: A month of mediocrity.

Lately, I've been feeling unwell, but I can't quite pinpoint what's wrong.

Perhaps this is just the result of getting old.

Someone asked for the QQ group number. Actually, I'm reluctant to share it because my book club is full of dissidents, trolls, and spies, including, but not limited to, argumentative people like myself. Sometimes, there are even intense debates.

However, our bottom line is no swearing. You can argue, persuade the other person, and use civilized methods. That's the fun of debating.

It's not uncommon for group members to be invited for tea after making idiotic remarks, and there's more than one. Rumor has it that real cyber police have joined our group.

If you're really not afraid, then come on.

Writing this month's summary, I've realized I've made a writing mistake: I'm writing too fast.

This isn't an excuse to reduce the number of words I update, but a genuine realization.

I encountered this in "Kesma," and in writing "Black Stone," and now I'm encountering it again.

What are the disadvantages of writing fast?

Simply put, the brain is constantly in a single-threaded task. But the world's development is diverse, which causes some plots that should have been presented to be erased, disappear, and vanish.

This is actually a bad situation because these plots would make the world view more three-dimensional and complete. But because I write too fast, I slip past them, and they're gone.

I should spend more time thinking, not playing games, but playing games can treat my depression, so it's a difficult choice.

Moreover, as a forty-year-old still insisting on playing games every day, even reaching 2400 points in CS, gaming will accompany me for life. Even when I enter the boiler, I won't stop.

This month, some readers have also raised questions about the plot. I've actually seen some of them, but I forgot them because my memory isn't very good as I get older.

People often use old age as an excuse for this and that, but getting old also has its advantages. Look, when I don't want to remember something, I don't even need to find a reason.

In short, I can assure you that I've read all your book reviews. In fact, many authors on Qidian are easily upset. Some authors even get so upset by reading reviews that they can't write anymore.

I want to say, what's the big deal? You're still too young, *adaxi*. Perhaps this is also the benefit of being old. At least I won't get angry and can even argue back with the trolls.

However, they probably can't win against me because I'm not a tolerant person. I'll ban them and make it permanent, killing them one by one.

I looked back at last month's summary and found that you didn't leave any messages, which means you have no questions, which is great!

Now the stage is almost set, and Golden Port City is about to become chaotic. We all know that the sign of any great era is "chaos."

Only chaos can bring prosperity after the chaos. Actually, I still want to say that there are many stories to write here, but I'm writing too fast. Otherwise, I could write another 200,000 words before the arrival of the chaotic world.

People's reason, ethics, and persistence will be constantly broken and rebuilt in chaos and profit.

The entire world is also about to usher in some new changes. The entire world is at a critical stage.

When I wrote this, a flash of inspiration came to my mind, as if I thought of something, but when I typed this sentence, I forgot again. Getting old is really not good.

After thinking for seven or eight minutes, I suddenly remembered again.

Someone asked if this is the Lighthouse. I said your question is too low-level. How could this be the Lighthouse?

This is clearly a completely fictional country that doesn't exist in any reality.

Perhaps you can see some similar historical trends because the development of history is always surprisingly similar.

Or rather, under the drive of rulers' interests, the trajectory of historical development is always highly similar.

Don't try to apply the events of our world to a world in a novel. At least the Lighthouse doesn't have three parties, but in the book, we do.

Well, that's about it.

Long press here -\u003e ⊙ \u003c- to leave a message. I'll answer them in the next issue, or if you see any questions you want me to answer while reading, you can come back to this chapter and post them here.
