Chapter 239 Seven Impossible Combinations

In Ollivander's Wand Shop, Ollivander began to speak a long passage that he would not normally say to ordinary customers: "Each Ollivander wand is made of wood from a small number of trees that can produce wand materials (just like only a small number of humans have magic) and super powerful magical substances."

"Each wand is unique, and its characteristics depend on the characteristics of the trees from which the wood of the wand is made and the magical creatures of the wand core."

"After each wand finds its ideal owner, it begins to impart its own characteristics to it and learn the characteristics of the holder."

"Therefore, if you still want to find a wand that is as good as before, I'm afraid you won't find it here, unless the one that suits you is a hornbeam wand."

"You need to run it in like a beginner and drive it to grow." Ollivander said. He stared straight into Riddle's eyes, as if he meant something.

The reason why he suddenly became so brave was that he would not allow himself to retreat because of fear in his profession. This was the reserve of the first wand maker in Britain.

"I have never used a wand. Don't look at me like this. I am actually only 11 years old. I am just a little tall." Riddle said seriously.

But it is strange that this is a ridiculous statement, but when it comes out of Riddle's mouth, it gives people a rare sense of conviction.

"But what is special about the hornbeam wand?" Riddle asked.

"Hornbeam wands choose wizards who have talents and a single and pure passion for things."

"It is like a blank sheet of paper, requiring the same simple thoughts, and therefore it takes the shortest time for them to adapt to their owner's magic style of all wands. They will become extremely personalized in a very short time, so that it will be very difficult for others except the owner of the wand to use it to cast even the simplest magic."

"Similarly, the hornbeam wand will also absorb the moral code of the holder, and no matter what moral standards the owner of the wand has, the hornbeam wand will refuse to cast any spells that violate the owner's principles, whether good or bad. This is a wand that is particularly good at integration and highly perceptive."

"You can try it, hornbeam and phoenix feathers, thirteen inches long." As Ollivander's voice fell, the wand was handed to Riddle.

But it was like a chopstick, without any reaction.

Ollivander took it away with a matter-of-fact expression, carefully asked Riddle for permission, and then looked for other wands in the paper box in the room.

"Try this one, blackthorn wood and dragon heartstring, nine inches long."

"How about this one? Cherry wood and phoenix feathers, twelve inches long."

"What a picky customer, cherry wood and dragon heartstrings, eleven and a half inches."

He had tried nearly a hundred wands, but none of them responded to him at all.

The tried wands were piled on the bench, getting higher and higher.

Ollivander was not as excited as he usually was when he saw picky customers. On the contrary, while he was looking for the wand to exchange, he kept muttering to himself, "How could it be... This should be the most suitable for him."

"Why not try yew wood and phoenix feathers." Riddle asked curiously. Did Ollivander think that he was no longer suitable and needed a new change?

"Yew wands are very rare. Because they contain toxic sap, yew is often associated with magic and death. After the outer old trees of yew die, new trees will continue to grow from the center, so it is regarded as an immortal tree and also symbolizes the reincarnation of the soul. Celtic priests regard yew as a symbol of eternal life and immortality."

"And the phoenix feather is the rarest type of wand core material. It is the most proactive wand core, sometimes even acting according to its own will, and is the most picky about choosing potential owners."

"The combination of these two materials, the immortal wood with the feather of the phoenix resurrected in the flames, sounds like a good match, but since my generation only uses phoenixes, unicorns, and dragons as wand cores, only one such perfect wand has been completed, thirteen and a half inches, yew wood, phoenix feathers."

"It is one of the seven impossible combinations in my shop." Ollivander said in a nostalgic tone.

His pale eyes stared at Riddle, as if he had forgotten his fear.

"Seven impossible combinations?" Dumbledore finally couldn't help but speak out.

"Among these seven wands, three of them are made of materials and cores that I no longer use, so I won't introduce them. Their cores are White River Monster Backbone, Mountain Tyrannosaurus Heartstring, and Thestral Tail Hair." Ollivander said.

"White River Monster Backbone? The spells cast by the wand with it as the core are powerful and elegant."

"But as far as I know, only the American wand maker Tiago Quintana uses this material. It's not that it's not good enough, but that Tiago Quintana has always kept the secret of the method of trapping the White River Monster."

"After his death, there should be no wand maker who uses it as the core of the wand." Dumbledore said.

"You are worthy of it. I once used some of the crafts I summarized to exchange the White River Monster Backbone from Tiago." Ollivander said.

He looked in awe. He never thought that Dumbledore would even dabble in wand lore, a knowledge only circulated among wand makers.

"Where are the other four wands of the seven impossible combinations?" Riddle asked impatiently. He still couldn't stand other people praising Dumbledore.

In addition, his original wand was one of the seven wands, so he was very curious about it.

"I've already said one of them is the wand of the mysterious man, and he has done great things following him." Ollivander said, which made Riddle suddenly think of something, "The other one won't be Harry Potter's!"

"You guessed it right, eleven inches, holly, phoenix feathers, soft and flexible."

"The holly, which symbolizes death and rebirth, and the phoenix, which also dies and reborn in the flames, are also extraordinary combinations. The two tail feathers of the same phoenix, one made this wand, and the other tail feather made the yew one." Ollivander paused, and after Riddle calmed down, he continued, "The other two are a combination of oak and dragon heartstrings, and elder and unicorn tail hair."

"Oh, where are their owners?" Riddle and Dumbledore said this almost at the same time.

One of these two wands belongs to Voldemort, and the other to the Savior. So, what kind of extraordinary existence will the owners of these two wands be?

"One of them has no owner yet." Ollivander said, and then he looked at Dumbledore with a very special look, "and the other one belongs to the Hogwarts gamekeeper - Rubeus Hagrid."
