Chapter 23

After accompanying Chen Ling to the interview, Wen Zhi went back to catch up on her sleep and woke up to check on the Heavenly Dream.

She had wanted to check if the game could make some more money but found that not many of the items were sold in the game. Most of the players with who she had done business together previously weren’t online. In the world chat channel, many users were selling their accounts, and lots of discussion about the Desolate Forest of Demons beta test which they wanted to port over.

It was inevitable that the old game would lose players once a new game concept was launched.

She could no longer farm much money on the Heavenly Dream so she only had the Desolate Forest of Demons.

Wen Zhi went offline with a discouraged heart and phoned her family.

She was afraid that her mother would be worried so she lied that she had found an internship and would be able to send back some money after the next two months.

However, she didn’t have any money and was having trouble even making ends meet.

Luckily there was still a way to make money, thus she quickly took a shower and hurried into the game pod.

Since she had gone online several hours late, XiaoZhangErShao and the rest had entered the dungeon for training, yet Gu Xian was not online.

When she opened the merchant system, Wen Zhi became excited that all the items were sold. The sound of gold coins clattering into the account was soothing to the ears and mind.

It was so much faster to earn money with level advantages!

With a little more effort, making a fortune was no longer just a dream.

Once reached level 60, she could exchange the game currency for actual money. This would solve her problem of lacking money for the time being.

With this in mind, she was energised, quickly buying up other items for resale and then scouring the world for herbs and mining sites.

When Gu Xian came online, she just happened to receive a herbalist quest and was torn between accepting it or not.

“Where are you?”

A low, cold voice rang out and the corresponding username flashed up on the left of her vision.

“Damuluo Canyon.” She replied.

“I’ll come and find you.”

The two of them had only known each other for a few days and according to Gu Xian’s character, he wouldn’t be so proactive. Could it be that he was bored as the other teammates had gone to the dungeon without him?

The female orc smiled with two particularly visible fangs, it look worse than crying.

Gu Xian’s expression was colder than usual and his pupils were dark and icy.

What was he upset about?

Wen Zhi suddenly realised her current look, did she upset him by smiling too ugly?

She skimmed her lips and smiled faintly with slight embarrassment: “Uh, everything was sold, we made a good profit but I’ve re-bought other things to resell them.” A trade request was then sent over: “I’ll pass you all the profit we have for now and the remaining, I’ll pass it to you as soon as it is earned.”

After placing the gold coins into the trading box and waited for a while for his consent. Wen Zhi was wondering if Gu Xian was unhappy with the little profit but then she heard the person in front of her sigh in a low tone.

Soon after, a set of assassin equipment appeared in the trading box.

Wen Zhi looked at the attributes of the equipment and was surprised: “All these equipment have such great attributes, where did you get them?”

“Lucky draw event.” Gu Xian replied and completed the transaction.

“Wow, you’re sure lucky.”

She knew about the event where each beta account had three lucky draw chances to win a random item from the game. She hadn’t gone into the draw yet and it seem like the chances of winning were pretty good?

“How much do you plan to sell it for?” She asked.

He had given the equipment to her for selling right?

“It’s for you.” Gu Xian replied: “I have no use for the assassin’s equipment.”

“You are being too kind.”

Wen Zhi was polite but at the same time equipped the new armours as soon as possible. With such great attributes, the visual look was definitely better than her current set.

Sure enough, the waistcoat and pants were immediately exchanged into tight suspenders and hip-hugging hot pants, and there was an extra pair of elbow-length gloves on her hands.

A glittering arm ring was also embedded on her arm and she instantly had the feeling of being a sharp and valiant assassin.

“What kind of quest?”

“Killing the BOSS in the Damuluo Canyon.”

The name of the flower, Aphrodisiac, sounded very lascivious and the quest required two players of the opposite gender to complete the quest together. The content of the quest could be guessed easily and the process would definitely involve doing indescribable things.

Originally, she was just asking a casual question to change the topic and did not expect Gu Xian to agree.

Instead of rejecting it straight, Gu Xian asked: “Must you do this quest?”

“It’s not necessary.” Wen Zhi stammered shyly: “But doing this quest can collect Aphrodisiac flower and with the flowers, it can be made into potions. As you know from this game, aphrodisiac potions are definitely worth lots of money.”

At those explanations, Gu Xian suddenly chuckled: “Money-grubber”

This tone sounded a little strange and was different from his usual way of speaking.

“It’s fine if you don’t want to, I can find some…”

Wen Zhi gave herself a backout chance but before she could even say the word ‘someone else’, Gu Xian had already sent a request to form a party.

Did he actually agree to it?
