Finding Stardust
249 I Will Make You Happy
Emma smiled at Therius' words. Ahh .. that's right. They had been together for quite a while. It had been almost a year since they first met. And since then they have spent so much time together.
She knew Therius very well at this point and she knew how much he loved her. In fact, he didn't mind going back and forth to the capital and this holiday home every day because Emma had chosen to stay here to distress after experiencing such difficult months in Akkadia.
Emma also felt that being married to her friend, was not a bad thing. She would have a new family to call her own. Just like Therius would have his own family too.
"When do you want to get married?" asked Emma softly.
Therius opened his eyes at Emma's words. He smiled wider, showing his dimples.
"It's up to you. I can get married at any time," he said happily. "I'm just waiting for you."
Indeed, a few months ago Emma said she wanted Therius to wait for her to finish mourning before they became husband and wife. But, come to think of it, she actually did not mind marrying Therius earlier to smoothen their plans at that time to trick King Cassius.
Emma only asked Therius for his understanding, that they would not sleep together after they got married until Emma finished mourning for Haoran. If Therius still didn't mind waiting, then, Emma was ready to marry him.
After all, she felt bad for being in an ambiguous relationship with the young king. They had lived together and spent a lot of time with each other. She thought that people out there were already starting to wonder about their relationship. So, it was better to formalize it.
"Hmmm ... we can get married next month. What do you think?" asked Emma. "After my 19th birthday. I think we can get married."
On earth, 19 was considered too young for marriage. Even in Akkadia, such an age was considered young. However, Emma's harsh life had made her a lot more mature than her years.
She had faced so many adversaries, losses, and tragedies that shaped her into a woman with an old soul. Therius could really connect to her despite their age difference.
In this regard, she already had a close connection with Therius since they spent so much time with him. Marrying Therius would just be the next obvious step for her.
Therius's face instantly lit up at Emma's words. He got up from her lap and grabbed Emma's shoulders excitedly.
"Are you serious?" His voice was hoarse and filled with excitement. "Did I hear you correctly?"
Finally ... after more than twenty years ... he would be able to marry his first love.
Emma .. Emma Stardust would truly be his wife. He was over the moon.
The kiss was very intimate and lasted quite a long time. Therius felt like he would never have enough of her kiss.
"I .. will make you happy," he whispered after he removed his lips from the girl's lips. His pair of topaz eyes were fixed on Emma's beautiful eyes. "I will devote my life.. solely to make you and our children happy."
Emma gasped at Therius's words. The young man looked very serious with his words. Actually, Emma was happy to hear the words from the man that he wanted to make her happy, but she was a little surprised to hear Therius mention children.
After all, Emma was still very young, and she had not thought about bearing children into this world.
Instantly, the girl fell silent. Therius noticed the change in Emma's expression and quickly corrected his words.
"I mean .. I was talking to the future. We don't have to have children quickly, but if in the future we will have children of our own. I will make you and our children a priority in my life," said Therius with a smile. "That is all."
Finally, Emma nodded. "I am still very young, and you also have so many responsibilities to the people. I don't think it is good for us to have children soon. Isn't there a rule in Akkadia that only parents who are ready to have children can register to have children? If I'm not wrong, there are so many conditions to meet before a couple can have children."
Therius cleared his throat. "Those are laws for the common people, they don't apply to the royal family."
"Ahhh .. isn't that unfair?" asked Emma, shaking her head. "You should set an example as a king."
"The world is indeed unfair," said Therius with a shrug. "Do you want me to become a commoner and follow the rules like them?"
Emma shook her head. "Nah, I am just kidding."
Emma knew Therius could never be a commoner, and she didn't want him to be anything he wasn't.
Therius hugged Emma and stroked her hair. He whispered affectionately in the girl's ear. "I'll be whatever you want. I just want to be with you."
Emma's cheeks flushed red at Therius' words. Even though the young man was not talkative and inexpressive, he was never shy or embarrassed to express his love for Emma.
It was Therius' attitude that made Emma feel very confident about their relationship and finally decided she was willing to marry him sooner than initially planned. After all, they had been spending time together intensely.
"Very well. Then I want you to be a good king," said Emma, hugging Therius back.
"I will be a good king with you by my side," said Therius. He broke away from Emma and looked at her face closely. "I'm going to have Avato and Atila clear our schedule and arrange a wedding ceremony. I can't wait to announce you to all the Akkadian people."
"We've talked about me going to the academy, haven't we? If you announced me to everyone, I'll have a hard time going to the academy. They would recognize me as your wife," said Emma. "I want to be like my mother, study at the academy as an ordinary person."
"You don't need to worry. The royal family doesn't show their face to the public," Therius said, comforting Emma. "You will be able to enter the academy as an ordinary person. Only the dean of the academy will know who you really are."
Emma smiled happily when she heard the man. "All right, then. I will trust you with everything."
Emma and Therius had talked about Emma's education after she was ready to enter the academy. This was a special school for people who had magical powers so that they could train their abilities.
This school was founded by the Akkadian monarch 200 years ago and was now the oldest school in Akkadian today.
Therius wanted Emma to train her powers, which was why he supported her to go to school. Apart from training all of her powers, Emma also could meet people her age and make friends. He didn't want her to feel lonely in Akkadia, having only him as a friend.
Therius remembered that he met Xion, his only friend when he went to the same academy. He hoped that Emma would also find someone who clicked with her and they could be friends too.
"The academy is far. I won't be able to see you often." Therius let out a long sigh. He caressed Emma's cheek and his face looked sad. "I hope you will miss me when you are not with me."
Emma chuckled when she heard him. "Of course I will miss you."
"Ah... I'm so happy to hear that." The king smiled broadly when he heard the answer he was waiting for. He kissed Emma gently and hugged her again.
