Finding Stardust
264 Picnic 2
She didn't really like the attention they got from those around them when they were in crowded places. By coming to the very end of Merridell that was not crowded by people, she felt like she and Therius could find peace.
The appearance of both of them really attracted attention. Therius himself looked very impressive with his handsome face, elegant outfit, and calm demeanor. Emma basically always attracted attention because of her fairy-like face.
At first, when she was still living on Earth, Emma thought she looked different because she came from another planet.
She thought all Akkadian women were like her. As it turned out, she was wrong. She inherited her mother's beauty. Princess Arreya was known to be very beautiful.
For Akkadian standards, Emma looked far above most women who were considered beautiful. Apart from her long, gorgeous platinum hair and light blue eyes that glowed charming, her cold countenance made her look mysterious and aloof.
She and Therius drew attention with their appearances alone. So, when these two beautiful people showed intimacy towards each other, other people couldn't help but look and admire them.
Emma had always attracted that kind of attention all her life, and she now grew tired of it. That was why she preferred to explore the parts of Merridell that people rarely visited.
"That's right ... Now, it's just the two of us," confirmed Therius. When the tram they were on had left, he put down the paper basket of their picnic supplies and pulled Emma into his arms. Shamelessly, he kissed Emma affectionately.
Ahh .. he had been holding himself back from kissing those cute little red lips. There were many people around them. And after all, he was the king; he would not kiss Emma in public.
Now, since there were only the two of them left, he did not hesitate to land a kiss on Emma's lips and enjoyed hugging her soft body in his arms.
Ahh .. he was now sure, indeed, his wife had that faint Lily of the Valley scent on her. He really liked it.
He removed his lips from hers and then went to inhale the scent from the top of the girl's head and closed his eyes.
Ahhh ... should he move the capital to Innstad temporarily so he could stay with Emma?
"Where is the lake you mentioned earlier?" asked Emma as she broke free from Therius' embrace. She took the paper basket containing their picnic supplies.
"If it's a bit far from here," Therius said, taking the bag from Emma's hand. He then took the girl by the hand and led her to fly. "Let's get there quickly by flying. I want you to enjoy the scenery there longer before sunset."
Now, as she and Therius hovered in the air, she could see Merridell in from above. Ahhh .. this botanical garden was really big.
They sped toward the east. Five minutes later, they came upon a sloping area with tall grass and colorful flowers filling the valley as far as the eye could see.
"Let's land here," Therius said, pulling Emma's hand down into the valley of flowers.
When the two of them were flying above the enchanting beauty, Emma was reminded of Peter Pan and Wendy's story in Neverland.
She smiled faintly to herself when she imagined how other people who saw them flying in the sky and then landed in this beautiful flower valley would think she and Therius looked like Peter Pan and Wendy.
"This place is amazing!!" exclaimed Emma as she landed and noticed that some of the flowers around her were so high that they almost reached her waist. Imagine Provence with the lavender fields, but this was an open field filled with many types of colorful flowers, and some were as tall as the human waist.
Emma felt like she was drowning in a sea of flowers. She walked very carefully so as not to step on the plants and break their branches.
"I'm glad you like it," Therius took Emma's hand and walked across the flower field to the edge of the valley, toward the lake he had mentioned earlier.
They walked leisurely, inhaling the fragrance of flowers that filled the air.
Emma waved her hand upward, and several large clouds came rushing over them and then stopped just above the valley.
The Akkadian sun that was already above their heads were now covered nicely by the clouds that provided them with shade.
As soon as they came out of the flower field and stepped on the soft green grass, Emma was so excited that she took off her shoes and stomped the grass barefooted.
"The grass is so soft!" she exclaimed. "I feel like I am walking on a stretch of silk."
"It is a special grass," said Therius. "If they grow in nature in a healthy manner like this, the texture will be very smooth."
Emma knelt on the grass and examined the plants. "This is really a lot of fun. I don't think we need a picnic blanket. We can just sit directly on the grass."
Therius smiled faintly at Emma's words. He sat on the grass and put down the paper basket containing their picnic supplies. He spread the picnic blanket on the grass, then arranged their food and drink.
When everything was ready, he opened the wine bottle, poured the contents into two paper cups, and handed one to Emma. The girl accepted it happily.
Even though the wine they bought was not as good and expensive as the wine available in the palace, the taste was still far superior to any wine she had tried on Earth.
"Thank you for bringing me here. I really love this place," whispered Emma, clinking her paper cup against Therius' cup. The young man seemed astonished by Emma's actions. In Akkadia, there was no tradition of clinking glasses like on Earth. So, Emma hurriedly explained. "It's a tradition on Earth. Usually, we do it to celebrate something."
"Ohh ..." Therius nodded and smiled. "I'm glad you liked it."
They took a sip of their respective wine without saying another word. The atmosphere around them was too beautiful for words. Emma thought it was better to enjoy it in silence, so she could appreciate the beauty around her.
The gentle breeze in the cool atmosphere and the fragrance of flowers that filled the air really made the two feel very peaceful.
That day, Therius was over the moon. He was happy because he and Emma slowly weave their own memory together. After the difficult times they experienced, they now started to live a happy life. It was time to weave memories that would belong to them alone.
He felt more stable and confident about his relationship with Emma. Gradually, his jealousy toward Haoran and the competitive feeling in his chest began to diminish.
Now, he had been together with Emma much longer than her with Haoran. Emma was only with Haoran for a year, and married for two weeks. While he had been with Emma for more than a year and married for five months.
Their relationship and sexual chemistry were undeniable. Day by day, he could feel Emma starting to love him slowly but surely. He had not heard the words of love from Emma's lips, but he was sure that one day they would come out.
Therius was a man who was very patient in achieving his goals. He could wait until that time came.
After finishing the wine in his cup, the man opened the boxes filled with food and handed one to Emma.
"Eat, so that the wine doesn't make your stomach uncomfortable."
He also peeled the fruits and put them on a paper plate.
"Thank you," said Emma. She enjoyed her lunch while gazing out at the lake, which was shimmering in light blue, reflecting the color of the sky above. In the middle of the lake, she saw hundreds of golden swans swimming.
Ahhh ... this was a really fun date.
