First Marriage and then Love
Chapter 3
Goodbye Ji Yan Tang
As soon as Ji Yan Tang opened the ward door, he noticed the teenager quietly looking out the window. The boy seemed a lot thinner. His face was half-hidden by his slightly longer hair. He couldn’t see his expression, but he felt peaceful and comfortable, and he didn’t want to disturb this relaxed atmosphere.
“A Tang, what’s up?” Zhou Xun, standing behind, saw that Ji Yan Tang stopped moving when he opened the door. He didn’t know why he pushed him with his hand.
Ji Yan Tang retracted his absent-minded gaze, shook his head indifferently, and entered the ward.
Hearing Zhou Xun’s voice, Long Ke Yi turned his head and saw Ji Yan Tang walking toward him. He was looking at him indifferently with that cold and handsome face. It was the first time seeing Ji Yan Tang after his rebirth. His heart, which used to beat irregularly whenever meeting him, was now calm and unmoved. The familiar face he once loved could no longer arouse his possessive desire. Although his heart was still aching, he now realized that he had really let go when he had died.
His lips showed a touch of irony. Only now did he understand that in the 22-years of entanglement, Ji Yan Tang had slowly wiped out all his love for him.
Ji Yan Tang watched the young man suddenly turn his head. His once dark and shiny eyes were now calm and distant, with only a trace of fatigue hiding in their depths. His complexion was faint. But what surprised him the most was the contempt on the boy’s lips. His heart suddenly jolted.
Standing by the door, Long Ke An raised his eyebrows and said sarcastically, “Oh, he didn’t even pounce on you.”
Long Ke Yi glanced at Long Ke An’s provocative face and then withdrew his gaze without speaking.
He once had hated Long Ke An for many years, but now he was tired of everything related to his previous life. He no longer wanted to entangle with these things anymore and decided to treat Long Ke An as a stranger. He no longer wanted to talk to him, so he would ignore him in the future.
Long Ke An stared at his beautiful, rebellious brother in surprise. He didn’t even talk back or fight with him today. Could it be that Ji Yan Tan and Mu Nan’s issue affected him too much?
“Xiao Yi, are you ok?” Ji Yan Tang had no expression on his stony face, but his eyes showed a look of concern.
Long Ke Yi looked at him dimly. “Can’t die.”
“Still blaming me?”
“Shouldn’t I blame the murderer who pushed me downstairs?” Long Ke Yi said coldly. Remembering this old matter, he became angry.
Ji Yan Tang’s eyes showed a touch of disbelief. Xiao Yi had never spoken this way to him before. It seems he was truly angry this time.
“You know I didn’t mean it that day. What kind of compensation does Xiao Yi want?” Ji Yan Tang’s initially indifferent face showed a soft smile.
Compensate your sister. I died once because of you. Can you make up for my lost life?
“No. I asked for it.” Long Ke Yi knew that everything he had done to Ji Yan Tang was on him, and he could blame no one.
Ji Yan Tang had never seen such an indifferent Long Ke Yi. He suppressed the discomfort in his heart and said in a gentle tone, “Xiao Yi, I didn’t forget your birthday that day, but I didn’t expect Mu Nan to be so sick, so I stayed with him until he finished his drip.”
Was this an explanation to him? Although he had been angry in his previous life, he had never said these words before. He had been reluctant to embarrass Ji Yan Tang, so he had shown him a stony face. Ji Yan Tang had to merely say, “What kind of compensation does Xiao Yi want?” and he had been happy to ask Ji Yan Tang to go with him on a trip to Bali.
Remembering this, he was even angrier. At that time, Ji Yan Tang, who had promised him, had only stayed with him for a day in Bali and had promptly returned after a phone call from Mu Nan. When he was angry, he pretended to coax him; hm, in that case, Ji Yan Tang played this trick too well. Pity that he has seen through it now. Ji Yan Tang had consumed all his love in his previous life, and his attitude could no longer affect his mood anymore.
Seeing that Long Ke Yi didn’t speak, Ji Yan Tang bowed his head and pondered. He was even more sure that Xiao Yi was angry because he missed his birthday, so he took out a small gift box from this trouser pocket and handed it to Long Ke Yi. “This is for you. I bought it before your birthday.”
Su Jin, who also came to see Long Ke Yi, felt the atmosphere was a bit tense, so he laughed at Long Ke Yi and said, “Yes, Xiao Yi, we bought this gift with A Tang a few days before your birthday.”
Long Ke Yi stared at the purple gift box. He knew it was a limited-edition watch. He had lost all his anger in his previous life after hearing Ji Yan Tang’s words, and he had treasured this watch until the day he died. Because it was the first time Ji Yan Tang had given him a watch, he kept wearing it all the time. How naive he had been back then. What’s the use of treasuring his watch if he doesn’t have his heart?
He woke up yesterday and was going to be discharged today, but the doctor said he had a mild concussion, so he was kept in hospital for observation for an additional day. If he really cared about him, shouldn’t he come to visit as soon as he woke up?
He no longer wanted to be involved with him, let alone accept this gift. Seeing this watch again was a constant reminder of the blind love he had given in his past life and the complete despair he had gotten in return.
Long Ke Yi looked away from the gift box and shook his head. From now on, he decided to cut off those feelings that didn’t belong to him and reset his life goals.
“Take back the gift. I don’t need it anymore.”
Long Ke Yi suddenly raised his head and looked seriously and coldly at Ji Yan Tang.
“I used to think that as long as I loved you enough, I could overcome anything. Now I know how wrong I used to be. You don’t love me. Forced entanglement not only hurts me but also annoys you. You have your true love, and I also have my own life. I don’t blame you for rejecting my love, because I asked for it. But now I’m tired of chasing you for so long.”
“So, Ji Yan Tang, I will never pester you again.”
His pale face showed a bleak smile, and then he said firmly, “Congratulations, you are free!”
Ji Yan Tang was shocked. He could not articulate how he felt. He had never thought that Long Ke Yi, who had loved him so much, would one day abandon him. Long Ke Yi had appeared suddenly in his life and had loved him too overwhelmingly. He sometimes felt tired of it. He was a rational and cold person, but he had never thought to let Long Ke Yi fade out of his life.
Hearing Long Ke Yi say so firmly that he would no longer entangle him and set him free from now on, Ji Yan Tang felt slightly uncomfortable, and his heart ached a little. Didn’t he like Mu Nan? He didn’t understand himself at the moment. He didn’t know how to deal with Long Ke Yi and needed to think about it.
Ji Yan Tang’s face because frosty. The others felt the sharp drop in temperature in the ward, and Zhou Xun couldn’t help but shiver.
Looking at Long Ke Yi’s pale face and resolute eyes, Ji Yan Tang’s anger was about to reach its peak. He had to calm down, so he gave Long Ke Yi a cold look, threw the gift box from his hand into the trash can, turned around, and exited the ward.
“What’s going on? Who can tell me?” Zhou Xun was baffled by the scene in front of him. Shouldn’t Long Ke Yi happily accept Ji Yan Tang’s gift? How did it turn into a final break-up scene? Although the two were not really together, in the eyes of their small group, the two were still considered a couple.
Several people just shook their heads. Although they did feel Ji Yan Tang was wrong in this matter, they didn’t expect Long Ke Yi to break up with him because of this. How could he do it? After all, they could see with their own eyes how dedicated Long Ke Yi had been for so many years. Could he truly give up such a deep love?
“Right. I can’t believe it, you even learned to play hard to get.” Long Ke An couldn’t believe that his younger brother, who always followed a path to the end once he set his mind on something, would give up chasing Ji Yan Tang.
Hearing Long Ke An say that, several people smiled knowingly. How could Long Ke Yi give up so easily? His expression was so serious and decisive; was he playing hard to get?
When Long Ke Yi heard Long Ke An speak like that, he felt very uncomfortable, so he chose to treat this person as air from now on.
He looked at the different expressions of the people in the ward and didn’t want to delve into it anymore. They were all Ji Yan Tang’s childhood friends. Although he also grew up with them, emotionally speaking, in their eyes Ji Yan Tang was a brother, while he was merely a capricious and domineering second-generation ancestor.
“Thank you for coming to see me. I’m tired and want to rest.” Long Ke Yi looked at them with a faint expression. He didn’t have the energy to deal with them at all.
They couldn’t stay any longer after hearing Long Ke Yi’s eviction order, so they told him to have a good rest and left the ward. Only Long Ke An’s eyes were cloudy, but seeing Long Ke Yi’s pale face, he couldn’t complain. He turned and left with them.
