Flower on the ash

I knocked at the door. It was my step-mother who opened the door.

" Oh. You came. I thought you will be serving your boss for a little more time. " she said making a disgusted look on seeing me.

" Whom are you talking to, dear?" came my father's voice from a distance.

" It's Anna, dear. I was telling her not to exhaust herself from too much work. " she said to father changing her tone to sweet one. How fast she changes her colour like a chameleon.

She gave me way to come inside and I entered with my luggage.

" How was your trip? Did your work go smoothly?" my father asked me and I nodded my head as yes.

"Good . Don't disappoint Mr. Wilson in any aspect. " he said and walked off. I surely know that he is worrying about not to displease Alex or else he will have to take its consequences. I lifted my luggage and went to my room. I was really feeling tired and it was already late now. I haven't seen Sophia for quite a while now. It's not like I want to see her. Whenever we meet there's a bomb that explodes. I changed my dress to my night wear and flopped on the bed. I caressed my hand on my stomach. I can't imagine it's true that I'm pregnant. I was still a child few years back and now I'm going to give birth to a child in a matter of few months.I closed my eyes and was soon drifted to sleep.

I opened my eyes and stretched my body on the bed. It was already seven in morning. I walk lazily to the bathroom to do my morning routine. I felt refreshed after coming out of the bathroom. I get ready for the work and went down for breakfast. I was the first one to go down for breakfast later accompanied by father then mother. I drank juice and ate toast, eggs and bacons and then left for work. I took the public bus to work and now I was sitting in my cabin when I heard a knock on the door. It was finance department manager, Penelope Smith. I stood up from my seat to welcome her.

" Hii. Good morning. " she greeted me.

" Good morning. " I replied and made her sit on the chair in front of me.

" I'm here to invite you to the party this weekend to celebrate the collaboration of Star and Xin corporation. " she said with a soft smile and gave me the invitation card. I took it from her hand.

"Thank you. " I said and put the card aside.

" Okay then. I should be get going. Lot to do for the party. Take care." she said and left.

I opened the card. The venue, date and time was written on it. The party was going to be held on day after tomorrow. I put the card in my bag and emerged myself in work. After some time , I checked my watch. It was 10.30 . Alex will be coming now, so I get up to make coffee for him. I went to the small kitchen on the same floor. This kitchen was only for some of the employees, vice-president and president. I started the coffee machine and started making one just as Alex likes it. I drank one glass of water and left the kitchen with a cup of coffee for Alex.

As I entered the cabin, I saw Alex already sitting there. I placed the coffee in front of him and stood straight.

We left the meeting room after it ended.

" Did you get the invitation for the party?" Alex asked me while we were walking on the corridor, towards the lift.

" Yes, Sir. " I said and we both entered in the lift and I press the floor's button.

" I have told Kelvin to look after the matter of Kelly. " he said .

" Thank you, Sir. " I said and he nodded. ' I will call Kelly after work. ' I thought to myself.

The lift opened and we were on 28th floor now. We both were heading to our cabin when Kelvin came and Alex left with him. I walked towards my cabin alone and was again emerged in my work . I took rest in between my work for lunch and going restroom.

It was almost 7o'clock and time to knock out from work. Alex hadn't came back till now. I completed my paperwork and put it on his desk so that he could check it in morning. With that I left my office , back to home by taking a cab.
