Flower on the ash

It took me a little time to get my vision fully clear. When I opened my eyes, I saw the sun was gleaming red and was on the verge to set. Alex had prepared the eating area and the whole area was covered with candles and flowers and when I turned around, I was shocked to see Alex kneeling on his one knee. He took out a small red box from his pocket and opened it.

" From darkness to light, from bad to good, from sickness to health, I, Alexander Wilson want to spend my every single moment of life with you for the rest of my life. Are you willing to spend the rest of your life with me Miss Evans?" Alex said and waited for me to reply.

" Yeah! I'm willing." I said without a second thought. My eyes were moist because of joy and happiness. I couldn't believe that this was actually happening. I couldn't even describe my feeling in words that how I was feeling that moment. It was the most beautiful and unforgettable day of my life and all the credit goes to Alex.

Alex asked for my hand and I put it into his. He slided the ring into my finger and stood up.

" I'm so happy with you, Anna." he said and came closer to me.

" Me too." I said. He came nearer and nearer. He slowly kissed me on my forehead, then on my right cheek and then on the left cheek. His face was still near me. He planned so much for me so I thought that I should also give him something. I tip-toed and softly kissed him on his lips. I gifted him my first kiss. I pulled back and saw Alex's reaction. He was shocked, but he again pulled me back from his hand and pressed his lips onto mine. I could feel the softness and warmth of his lips on mine. It stayed a little longer than mine. When we finally pulled back Alex rested his head on mine.

" I love you." he said and I became speechless again but I had to reply.

" I like you too." I replied. I didn't know why I said 'like' instead of 'love'. Maybe my heart still wants some more time to admit it. He didn't say anything, just remained in that position for several heavenly minutes.

He pulled his head back and smiled at me.

" I want to spend moments like this with you again and again." I Alex said and I smiled.

" Let's eat the food now." he said and leaded me towards the area he had prepared for eating. Candles were glowing brightly in the dim atmosphere and the fragrance of the fresh flowers were also coming. He pulled a chair for me to sit. He also seated himself in front of me.

" Let's eat my wife." Alex said and I smiled. I started to eat in the lovely atmosphere with the loveliest person I had ever met in my whole life. I enjoyed every moment of it. It was the biggest surprise I had ever got.

After we were done eating, we wiped our hands. It was already dark now. Sun had already and moon was gleaming in the sky. I was going to stand up but Alex stopped me.

" Wait!" he said hurriedly.

" What?" I asked, sitting again on the chair.

" There's one more surprise for you." he said.

" Another one?" I asked shocked.

" Yep." He said and clicked his two fingers. Two men in black suit appeared with violin in their hands. They started playing it and soon we were surrounded with the the beautiful melody. Soon I started to notice some fireflies. The number of fireflies started increasing on every passing second. The whole area was now surrounded with glowing fireflies. I stood up from my chair to take a closer look. It was beautiful, like fire dancing in the air. The music ended as the violinist stopped playing the violin. The fireflies gradually went away and everything was back to normal. It was like I just saw a dream. I turned back to look at Alex. He was smiling looking at me. I walked over to him. He stood up from his seat as he saw me coming towards him.

" Thank you Alex. Thank you for everything. You made my day so special." I said to him. I couldn't control my excitement. The surprise he gave me was so special that I won't forget it in this lifetime.

" You are worth it." he said. "Let's go now. It's getting darker." he said. I nodded my head and we both started to go down the hill. Their were stairs carved till the down. We both took slow steps, enjoying the view. There were lamps on either side of the stairs so it wasn't difficult to see although it was dark now. Finally we reached down.

" Do you often come here?" I asked him walking towards the car.

" Yeah. Sometimes when I'm bored with city's hustle and bustle." he said. Indeed it was very quiet and peaceful in here.
