Flower on the ash

I felt nauseous just on hearing the fish's name, but I didn't let it show on my face. I nodded my head and started from chopping vegetables. After a few minutes when I was done I looked at grandma. She was putting the rice in the cooker.

" I will cut the fish. You go and get the meat from the fridge." Grandma said and I nodded my head. Working with grandma was giving me cold sweats all over my body.

I walked towards where the fridge was and took out the meat. I went back to the kitchen and saw grandma wasn't there. I started to cut it when I smelled an unpleasant smell. I looked up and saw grandma has entered the kitchen with a big fish in her hands.

I tried to calm myself down and concentrate on my work to get the thought of fish away from my mind. I cut the meat and was cooking it when grandma came and stood beside me, putting the fish in the hot oil on the pan. As the smell raised, I couldn't control myself and ran towards the sink. I vomited and vomited when I felt grandma rushed over to me.

" What happened?" she asked me worried, rubbing my back but I was in no state to answer her. As tears rolled down my eyes, I tried to calm myself when again I felt liquid filling my mouth and I again threw up.

" Butler!!" I heard grandma calling. When he arrived she said something to him but I didn't hear as I once again puked. I felt my knees weakening and supported myself by clutching the sink with my hands. I was standing there with tears following continuously from my eyes when I felt someone scooped me up. Before I could see his face, I passed out.

I opened my eyes hearing Alex's and grandma's voices. I was lying on a bed with three people in the room - Alex, Grandma and a man whom I didn't know. But from his clothes I could tell he was a doctor. Grandma was scolding Alex for not informing her that I was pregnant.

" We were going to tell you but before we could you send me away." Alex said defending himself.

" You always makes excuses." Grandma said.

" Ms.Evans is up." I heard the doctor's voice standing in the room, watching grandmother and grandson duo.

When the doctor announced, both of their gazes fell on me. Alex quickly sat beside me and held my hands.

" How are you feeling?" he asked me.

" Better." I said and tried to sit up. Alex helped me up and placed a pillow behind my back.

" Everything is fine. It was just morning sickness but you should eat more nutritious food. Seeing your condition, you are quite weak." the doctor said.

" Can I go to work?" I asked him. I don't want him to say again that I should just stay at home.

" Yeah, you can go to work but you should not exhaust yourself. Your body should be your first priority." he said to me and I nodded my head.

" Thank you, doctor." Alex said and walked out with the doctor.

" I will tell the maid to bring your food here." Grandma said and I nodded. She left and I was alone in the room. Soon Alex joined me and sat beside me, putting his hand on my shoulder.

" Are you tired?" he asked me and I shook my head as no.

" Do you think, everything is alright?" I asked him and Alex threw me a confused look. "I mean, is Grandma disappointed in me?" I cleared myself.

" No. Why would she be? My Grandma is not that strict." he said.

" Then Mom~" I was going to say that Grandma doesn't like Mom but Alex cut my words in the middle, knowing what I was going to say.

" Situation between Mom and Grandma was different." he said and looked at me. Seeing my curious look to know the story, he sighed and continued. "Grandma wanted my Dad to marry a girl from a rich family but father fell in love with my Mom, who met him in a coffee shop. My Mom wasn't from a big family and Grandma didn't like that. She tried to stop them, but when the people are fated to meet then no one can stop them. When Dad got to know that Mom was pregnant, he married her and then Grandma had to accept her as she was going to give birth to a Wilson and moreover a boy." he completed and there was a knock on the door. The maid came to bring in the food. She put the food trolley near the bed and left it with a bow.

" Did you eat lunch?" I asked Alex and he shook his head.

" Then have with me." I said and lifted the spoon for him to eat.
