Following a Whisper

This... What am I supposed to do?

Are they expecting me to...Play?I'm so confused .First they mistreat me in every way possible, then they throw me out in large stone room with only a rubber ball to keep me company .What do they expect from me?

I don't get it.

But with nothing else to do, I walk up the rubber ball and kick it . It's only the size my palm, so one small kick from me almost sends it all the way across the room . Bouncing to a stop, the ball makes a small smacking noise when it hits the ground a final time.

...How ridiculous.

When I walk closer to red ball, I noticed something odd .The ball seems to be coated in a thin layer of ice .But after contemplating for a minute, I decided that it must have been like that whole time and stopped thinking about. Even if I had found some profound reason as to why there was ice on some silly little ball, there wasn't anything I could do about it anyway.

But anyways, what do I do now? Do they just want me to continue playing with this ball?Well, I guess it couldn't hurt.

Or at least, that's what I thought at first .But after playing with the ball aimlessly for a couple minutes, I found myself panting and sweating up a storm .It turns out that I'm really, really, really weak.It turns out that sitting there, doing nothing all day, is super bad for the body .Who'd have known.

But for some reason, it makes me really frustrated to know that I can't even play with some stupid red ball .Like, I knew there was no hope for me to escape, but it still made meextremely mad seeing myself so helpless.

So, glaring at the ball, I ended playing until I reopened my wounds, gave myself even more bruises, and basically completely exhausted myself.

What a mess.@@
