Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 249 - Breaking The Vows Thrice

Celestia's POV:

When I was in the mortal realm, early morning walks were the only thing that used to give me solace. Watching the sun eradicating the darkness gave me hope that all the darkness would have to fade away eventually.

I stood under the oak tree of the castle gardens and watched the sky above me peacefully. I wish that the darkness in my life gets eradicated, just like this.

I walked barefoot on the green grass that was wet with the morning dew. Even though my mind was in a constant state of confusion, the serene atmosphere around me was relaxing me.

But when a blonde-haired sweet guy came running towards me, my peace got distorted. He didn't seem like he had good news for me.

"Celestia," Edwin shouted my name and stood before me. "Our troops have failed in rescuing Prince Darius.."

The news wasn't even surprising to me. I knew that it was not an easy task to defeat Silver Shadow. The fact is that it is impossible to defeat him!

"But the good news is that our troops returned back to the land without getting hurt," Edwin added.

I was confused! Silver Shadow defeated our troops without hurting them? How is that even possible?!

Edwin and I went to the weapons room, where all the warriors were assembled. Even though it is daytime now, this room is dark as this place is just above the basement.

On the right side of the room, the Spirit Faes were welding out metals to create weapons out of it. On the left, all the manufactured weaponry was stored in wooden barrels.

Some of the warriors were returning back the weapons to their rightful place. Even though a Fae always depends on his inner powers, he relies on weapons as a second choice.

All the others seemed normal, except for Vivian, who was standing in the corner of the room alone. His eyes were on the concrete grey floor, and he appeared to be bleak.

I immediately went to him and snapped my fingers at him. Then slowly, he raised his head up and glanced at me. "Celestia! When did you come here?"

"I just got here! But what is with the long face? None of the warriors got hurt, and you should be rejoicing it—"

He let out a sigh. "But we all failed in our quest—"

"Oh, come on, Vivian," I beamed at him. "You know that it is impossible to defeat Silver Shadow. Still, you guys bravely went on this quest—and you all deserve to be appreciated for that."

Vivian sighed again. "That is true! We all knew that we would lose. We were just fulfilling the orders of the King! But I made a big mistake by promising something to that trickster which I can't fulfill."

"What? You made a promise to him?" I gasped. "Why would you even do something like that?"

He pressed his sturdy shoulders against the wall behind him and gazed up at the ceiling above. "I was helpless, and our troops got vulnerable just by seeing that Anti-Angel! They persuaded me to make that promise—as they were too scared to battle with him—"

"Just relax, Vivan," I comforted him. "Nothing bad will happen if you fail to fulfill one of your promises—"

Vivian got stiffened up and said, "Celestia, you don't understand the seriousness of my situation. I have already broken two vows in the past. I can't afford to break another one. You out of all the people know what happens when a Fae breaks his vows thrice."

I shuddered internally when I thought about my past. I had broken three vows in my old life, which resulted in destruction. According to me, the number doesn't matter. Each and every broken vow has serious repercussions. It was too sad even to see Vivian. There must be some way in which I could help him in fulfilling his vow.

"Vivian, just tell me what your vow is. I might be able to help you with that—"

"No, Celestia," he shook his head multiple times. "You don't have to know about this."

I frowned. "But why?"

"Just stay out of it, Celestia! That is better for you—"

"Does this…. Does this concern me?" I asked him skeptically.

"Yes, it does! And that is why you should not get involved in this," Vivian said and walked away from me even before I could say anything else.

But soon, I was able to guess what he could have promised. If it concerns me, then Silver Shadow must have made Vivian promise that—he will hand me over to him. That is why Vivian said that he couldn't fulfill his promise!

I got out of the weaponry room after that and stood outside in the hallway. Edwin followed me outside. "Celestia, you seem upset. What is the matter?" he asked me.

For a moment, I doubted if Edwin had the power to read my mind too. Or else how could he know when exactly I was stressed or upset. I grunted slightly and looked at the sweet guy who was standing before me with his hands crossed over his chest.

"I think that it would be for the best if I just surrender myself to Silver Shadow," I confessed.

"Celestia…," he shouted out loud. His breathing got heavy, and his face turned red. "How many times do I have to tell you that you shouldn't be a lamb? Or do you want to be a lamb?!"

"No," I shrugged off. "It is just that I am the reason why people around me are suffering. Darius is imprisoned because of me, and now Vivian broke his third vow for me. I just don't want my friends to suffer because of me—"

Even though I gave him a logical explanation, he didn't seem to understand my point.

"You are doing no justice to us by speaking like this," he yelled at me.

I was petrified. Why is he furious at me now? I said nothing wrong except confessing the truth!
