Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow

Chapter 278 - Mirror Of Candor

Celestia's POV:

I found myself lying in my bed when I opened my eyes. I tried to move my hand, but something was restraining me. I turned to my right side and let out a scream. My right hand alone was cuffed to the bed frame with the help of glossy grey metal. This is the dead rock chain!

Slowly, my mind recalled everything that happened before I fell unconscious. I had gotten my sparks back! I was about to melt the metal rod and free Darius—but that evil Amelia enchanted me!

I tried to bring out my sparks again, but they were just dead. Great! Now I am stranded back to square one. Perhaps it is a waste even to try anymore. Whatever efforts I make always turn to be useless. Instead, it is better to accept the fact that I am powerless and weak to defeat these tricky Sirens.

I rested my head back on the silk pillow while my heart crumbled with the feeling of defeat. So is this how am I supposed to live the rest of my life?

"No, Celestia, you are overthinking now," said a sweet female voice. I let out a sigh when the strawberry blonde-haired girl came to me. My eyes flickered at the mirror she was holding in her hand. It was medium-sized and oval in shape with a golden frame. Is she here to give me a makeover now?!

"Celestia, dear! For this long, you kept on accusing Theo of the things that he actually didn't do. Have you ever for once tried to know what the truth is?"

"The truth is evident, isn't it? Theo is a trickster who wrecked my life thousand years ago."

"No, he didn't! Theo wasn't the one who wrecked you. It was your father—"

I chuckled a little and said, "So are you saying that my father is the Villian?! Oh, please shut up—"

"Yes, he is the biggest trickster in all three realms. Your father is the one who killed a hundred Faes, and he pinned the blame upon Theo just to make you vulnerable and guilty. You believed his lies and ended up sacrificing yourself as you felt guilty—"

I was so confused! What is she even saying?! No! This can't be true. She is lying about my father so that I would start to hate him. "You can lie all you want, but I am never falling in your trap again—"

"Fine," she sighed and gave the pretty mirror to me. "You can see the truth here—"

I can see the truth here?! This is a mirror! The only thing I can see here is my own face. But my heart almost stopped when I looked at the mirror. My face wasn't visible there. There was nothing in the mirror.

I glanced up at Amelia in horror. "What the hell is this?"

"Oh, Celestia! This is not an ordinary mirror. This is the mirror of candor—"

"Mirror of candor?!"

"Yes! This mirror was given to us by the Moon Goddess herself. This mirror is one of the prized possession of the Siren Queen. It was a challenge for me to steal the mirror from her chamber; I did for you! So can you please look at this mirror to know the truth?"

I didn't understand how this was going to show me the truth. Or is this like a cellphone?! Does it show me random videos?!

"You are almost right about it," Amelia said. "The mirror of candor can show you the events that happened in the past, and that is happening right now. The only thing it can't show in the future—"

This is interesting! So this is like a cellphone that shows videos. But what is the guarantee whatever it shows me is the truth?! This Siren girl could alter the reality too!

"Celestia, I swear on the Moon Goddess that I will do no such thing. Whatever you are going to see in this mirror is the truth!"

I was dazed! The Sirens consider the Moon Goddess as their everything. If a Siren swears on the moon goddess, then she will definitely keep up her word. So whatever I see in this mirror must be the reality!

"Okay," I breathed out. "Show me what happened on the day of battle—"

The mirror immediately started to show something. This is awesome! This thing is just like the voice activation device like Alexa.

I got serious when I saw my father standing on the barren battlefield that is behind the highland castle. He was smiling at the warriors who were standing before him. I wasn't able to count the number of warriors through the mirror, but I bet that they must be at least a hundred of them.

I recalled every warrior's face. I still remember them as fallen corpses on the ground. I was saddened that they were going to die soon. And I am going to know who did that!

"My warrior," Father Oberon yelled at the gang. "You all have contributed so much to the welfare of the Highlands. I am so proud of you all!"

The warriors looked at their King with pride. One of them said, "Your highness, we are always glad to serve our motherland and you! Would you please tell us why you have summoned us here? We are ready to do anything that you ask us to do—"

Father Oberon smirked at the warrior. "By anything, do you mean anything?!"

"Yes, your highness! We are ready to do anything. Just tell us the word, and it will be done in a blink of your eye—"

Father Oberon never stopped smirking at him. "Fine! But the quest I am going to give you now is going to be your last and final quest. After this, you are going to be in the bliss of heaven."

The warriors were confused. They stared at each other to understand what the King was actually referring to.

"My dear warriors! I want you all to be the sacrifice for a good cause—"

What?! Sacrifice?! So my father did this?! No! This can't be it! My father is a righteous man.. He would never do such a thing even in his dream. Or did he?!
