Forever Destined To The Silver Shadow
Chapter 287 - I Was Always A Noble Lady
Theo's POV:
I woke up to the noise of Serena arguing loudly with a man. For a moment, I suffered as I thought that my so-called father had found me here. But this man's voice wasn't very harsh like that of my father's. The man did sound mad, but his tone had a little warmth and tenderness towards Serena.
Ivory, on the other hand, was sleeping next to me as if she wasn't at all bothered by the noise outside. I quietly slid down from the mattress and went near the door. I slightly opened the door and saw the scenery outside.
A not-so-blonde-haired man who was wearing golden armor was speaking to Serena. He was tall, muscular, and had the grace of a warrior man. But unlike Oberon, his eyes didn't have the darkness in them. They were gleaming clear blue like that of a sapphire crystal.
"Serena," the man yelled out. "You can't conspire against the King! If you let these kids stay here, then he will punish us for that. What you are doing now is treason—"
"No, it is not," Serena snapped. "There is no bigger sinner than the Fae King. You didn't see the way he threatened that poor kid."
Serena got furious at the man. It was odd to see the kind Angel turning bitter. Yet, I was able to realize that she was fighting for me—and I was guilty to be the reason for that. After a while, Serena eventually cooled down from her anger.
She shrugged uncomfortably and apologized to the man. "Alan, honey! I am sorry! I never meant to lash out at you. I am now furious at Oberon, not you. Do you understand?"
Only then did the little man understand that this man was her lover. But he was supposed to be in the battle with the shadow creatures. And judging by his looks, he seemed like just now he had returned from the battle. I was relieved that he was safe. I didn't want anything bad happening to the father of the unborn baby girl!
Alan too cooled off from his anger after that. He moved to the cottage entrance and peeked out to check if someone was watching him or not. When he realized that no one was watching him, he shut the cottage door and faced Serena.
"Okay, listen to me, Serena! I understand what you are trying to say. That kid needs help, but it is not best for him to stay here. He should go back to Selene now. Or else Oberon might hurt him or worse," he paused and looked down at her womb. "Try to understand what I am saying. You have a bigger responsibility to fulfill for this realm. What if Oberon harms our child?"
"No…" I was the one to shout even before Serena. I immediately walked out of my hiding and moved to them in the living room. Alan's eyes widened when he looked at me. He wasn't curious or amused. He seemed more intimidated than I was in his living room. Perhaps this is how all the Faes view the Sirens! They treat us as if we are creatures of darkness.
I bowed down to the dark-haired man before I started my speech. "I am extremely sorry for all the inconvenience I have caused to you both by my presence. I never really meant to be an inconvenience. I don't want anything bad happening to you both or the baby girl! So my friend and I will go back to the island."
Alan was stunned, while Serena didn't accept my proposal. "Theodore," she screamed my name. "You are not going anywhere! You are the rightful heir to the throne, and you are supposed to live in the Highland castle—not on an island. I will make everyone in this realm see the true face of Oberon. I will expose him before these people. A sinner like him is not worthy for the throne—"
Alan silently seemed to agree to Serena's words. Now he wasn't even opposing her anymore. He is a nobleman, after all! Yet, he was reluctant before as he was scared of his unborn child. And I was too scared for the baby girl. If my presence causes harm to her, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.
When we three were silently watching the faces of each other, the door of the cottage slammed open, and my so-called father got inside. Even though I was shaken, I wondered how he got here. How did he know that I was here?
Serena didn't even flinch when my father took out his sword and pointed it at her throat. She very much knew that he wouldn't kill her. But I was even more shaken.
"Leave her alone," I screamed out. "It is all my fault! You can punish me instead—"
But Oberon didn't even look at me. His focus was entirely on Serena. And surprisingly, Alan wasn't even shaken by the Fae King's arrival. He was standing casually beside the Fae King. Serena immediately understood that Alan betrayed her. He must have informed Oberon about my existence here.
"How can you do this to me?" Serena cried to her lover Alan.
"Honey, he is for the kid. We will be fine! Just let him go and promise to the King that you will not say a word about this," Alan instructed her.
Serena let out a chuckle. Then she pulled me near her and put her one arm around me, holding me securely. "He is the rightful King of this realm, and I am never going to give him up to you—"
Alan facepalmed himself while Oberon turned red by anger. "You wicked witch," he yelled at Serena. "I gave you the privilege of a noble lady, and you repay me by betrayal?"
Serena chuckled again. "You never gave me nobility cause I was always a noble lady.." Then she pointed her finger at him and said, "But you! You made a fool of everyone in the realm by wearing a mask of nobility. I am going to rip off your mask soon—"
