From Hogwarts to Strixhaven
Chapter 24 Scribes Association
If one spell doesn't work, try another one.
Ivy spent some time getting familiar with the spell models of the other three tricks. In his opinion, they were not complicated things, but like the Mage's Hand, the completed spell models failed at the moment before casting.
Ivy did not continue to try, but looked at his wand. When a DND mage casts a spell, in addition to spell knowledge and corresponding spell slots, he also needs an arcane magic tool as a medium for casting.
I thought my wand could play a corresponding role as an arcane magic tool, but now it seems that this may not be the case.
In addition to the wand, what else can be used as an arcane magic tool? Ivy moved his sight to the Destruction Grimoire.
"Success!" Ivy looked at the blue translucent palm floating in front of him and called out with joy. The last time he was so happy was when he successfully released "Avada Eats the Big Melon" for the first time!
Now that he was able to cast the spell successfully, Ivy immediately checked his attribute panel on the cover page of the Destruction Grimoire again.
He clearly found that in the "Profession/Level" column, after the 15th-level wizard and the 10th-level ancient magic wizard, there was another entry - the 0th-level Scribe Wizard.
"Scribe?" To be honest, Ivy didn't remember seeing this entry. Because the DND series rules have changed a lot in each version, there are countless strange spellcasting professions and their variants and sub-professions, and Ivy's understanding of DND is limited to various video games.
Except for a few professions whose names look too cool, Ivy doesn't remember too many entries about professions. The Scribe Wizard is obviously not in his memory.
Ivy focused his mind on the entry of the Scribe Wizard, and the Destruction Grimoire immediately automatically showed a lot of information about this profession.
It turned out that the Scribe Wizard is a sub-profession of the wizard under the DND5 version of the rules, and the core feature is the magical spell book.
"In other words, using books to cast spells is a prerequisite for this sub-profession?" Ivy rubbed his chin, but because he was too young and the stubble had not yet grown, he was very uncomfortable, so he finally put his hand down.
But a new problem arose. The specialty that Ivy had already selected on the character panel, that is, the material-free spellcasting, was not a universal specialty under the DND5 version of the rules.
Professions and specialties belong to two different versions of rules. If this were in a group game, it would definitely drive the DM (game host) crazy!
But magic is so magical, Ivy did it unscientifically but magically! Although it was completely relying on the power of the cheating finger, who can deny that the cheating was not his own effort?
Ivy continued to read the professional ability of the Scribe Mage on the Destruction Grimoire.
"When the Scribe Mage reaches level 2, he will obtain the Mage's Pen and the Awakening Grimoire." Ivy read out this line of words, which is the first professional ability of the Scribe Mage.
The Mage's Pen is a magic feather pen created by magic. It has the characteristics of not needing to dip in ink, automatically changing the color of handwriting, automatically writing, erasing handwriting, and halving the time of copying spells.
"A painting style professional ability." Ivy nodded, fully understanding the role of the Mage's Pen.
The so-called painting style professional ability is the professional ability that distinguishes the characteristics of each profession when playing a TRPG group. Because the TRPG group is actually more like an adventure story written by all players and DM, everyone has to play his own role.
In order to make the characters in the story more vivid and interesting, the game designer has designed many unique professional abilities for the players.
For example, in a TRPG group game that Ivy played not long before he crossed over, the role he played was a strange machine master with a set of magic armor made by himself. Whenever fighting, Ivy would let his strange machine master open his palm to the enemy, use magic to stimulate the sapphire in the hand armor, and then shoot a lightning bolt to COS Iron Man.
Although the damage is only a pitiful 1~6 points, it doesn't prevent it from being handsome! Think about it, COS Iron Man in the magic world, how cool!
So this kind of ability is called the painting style professional ability by players, and it is generally used to highlight personal characteristics.
However, in this real world, the Mage's Pen is obviously not nothing but handsome. At least Ivy can use it to deal with the homework assigned by the professors. The feather pen that can synchronize with the owner's thoughts and automatically record is so cool!
Let's take a look at the Awakening Grimoire.
First, it strengthens the connection between the mage and the spell book, and can turn the spell book into an arcane magic tool that can be used to cast spells. Ivy's Destruction Grimoire obviously already has this feature.
Secondly, the Awakening Grimoire can change the damage type of the spell, and can replace the spell being released with a spell of the same level as the released spell.
This almost means that Ivy can change the damage type of the spell at will, because for the mage, the most lacking is spells of various damage types!
Think about how great a fireball that can cause eclipse damage or psychic damage can be!
And Ivy remembered that a similar ability seemed to have appeared in the previous rules of DND. It was the professional ability of the advanced professional archmage, the "higher arcane ability" obtained by permanently consuming a spell slot.
Among them, consuming an 8th-level spell slot can gain an ability similar to the "Awakening Grimoire" - Elemental Control. The Archmage can replace the elemental type of the spell itself with an elemental type specified by himself when casting a spell.
No mistakes in the first post, the content of the first post, and the first 6-9 book bar!
Note that Elemental Control replaces the elemental type of the spell, that is, the elemental transformation such as fire to water, water to thunder, and the transformation between acid, ice, fire, electricity, and thunder.
The Awakening Grimoire can provide a change in the type of damage, which includes force field, flame, brilliance, strong acid, poison, lightning, thunder, eclipse, freezing, and mind. There are ten different types of damage, which is a huge challenge for the enemy's resistance.
This alone is already better than the Archmage's Elemental Control.
At the same time, the Awakening Grimoire has a third advantage, which is to use normal casting time instead of ritual casting. In other words, he can use a spell to replace the cumbersome magic ritual. Although it can only be used once a day, it is also a very practical ability.
"It seems that the Awakening Grimoire is the core professional ability of the Scribe Club Mage." Ivy nodded and secretly made up his mind to work hard to become a "Level 2 Scribe Club Mage" first!
