Chapter 177 The tip of the needle versus the awn of wheat

"Mr. Cook, we want to talk about Taiwei System."

Hearing Steve's voice on the phone, Cook suddenly understood.

"Mr. Steve, what are your plans?"

"We need to unite, otherwise Taiwei System will be a huge threat sooner or later. I believe Sydney doesn't want another powerful enemy to appear!"

Of course Cook knows that even though Taiwei System has not invaded Sydney's mobile phones and computers now, no one can guarantee what will happen in the future.

Especially the terrible performance of the Taiwei system makes Cook feel frightened now.

"I agree to join forces, so what does Mr. Steve plan to do?"

"Very simple, patented!"

"Can!"

Cook agreed. No matter how much Sydney and Microhard fell in love with each other in the past, they were highly consistent when it came to such a big deal.

On the other hand, Layton Angus of Google Company has the same plan, and they are even more anxious than Microsoft.

Microsoft maintains two-thirds of its market share, while Android loses two-thirds. It's no wonder they can't be in a hurry.

Regarding Microsoft's proposal, both parties hit it off.

Soon Microsoft, Google, Sydney, Nokia, Ericsson and other companies immediately reached an agreement and prepared to use patents to attack Zhongxing Group.

As for whether Taiwei Systems has infringed on their patents, "on the surface" it certainly seems so.

Give a few examples.

Patent number 5579517, long file name support. MS-DOS before version 5 only supported 11-character filenames (including extensions), so Microsoft invented a way to support both long and short filenames.

Friends who have used the DOS operating system should know that DOS will automatically shorten file names that exceed 11 characters and replace part of them with ~ symbols. This patent is about this implementation.

Since the Android system supports MicroSD (TF) cards in FAT format, the data stored on the card must support DOS long file names.

In other words, any device that supports the FAT format is restricted by this patent of Microsoft.

There are also Patent No. 6621746, flash memory erasure; Patent No. 6909910, contact creation and update; Patent No. 7644376, system status monitoring and notification system; Patent No. 6370566, initiating scheduled meeting requests from mobile devices.

Specifically patent number 5664133, a pop-up context menu system.

The specific patent describes obtaining and displaying a series of commands in a pop-up menu for a user-selected object.

This patent is probably Microsoft's dragon-slaying knife, which can kill gods when gods block it, and Buddha when it blocks Buddha.

There is also patent number 6578054, incremental synchronization.

Systems and methods for synchronizing multiple copies of data between servers and clients, whereby incremental changes to one copy of the data are identified, transmitted, and integrated into all other copies of the data.

According to this patent description, Android's data synchronization function can be said to be completely wiped out.

Judging from the above patents owned by Microsoft, most of them should involve some basic functions that have been widely used in modern operating systems and have become as basic as breathing.

If you want to avoid Microsoft's patents, it means starting from scratch, which is a very sad thing for the entire computer industry.

This is only a patent owned by Microsoft. If you include Sydney, Google, Nokia, and Ericsson, I believe that no company can bypass their patent moat in an English language programming environment.

The five companies that quickly reached the PY deal appealed to the Shanghai Court on August 24 that Zhongxing Group had infringed on their patents.

Among them, Microsoft filed 276 patents, Google filed 231 patents, Sydney filed 233 patents, Nokia filed 419 patents, and Ericsson filed 142 patents.

There are a total of 1,301 patents, and these patents are all used by Taiwei System to a greater or lesser extent.

They also asked Taiwei Systems to immediately stop using their patents and compensate them US$130.1 billion. Obviously, these guys want to completely kill Taiwei Systems and severely damage Galaxy Technology.

In order to create pressure from public opinion, the five companies spared no expense to hire cyber trolls, allowing cyber trolls and public intellectuals to blast Zhongxing Group and Taiwei Systems online.

For a while, the Zhongxing Group had not yet responded to the lawsuit, and the Internet was filled with smoke. Netizens who supported the Zhongxing Group and Taiwei System, and Internet trolls, trolled each other.

Of course, large online media such as Penguin News, NetEase News, and Bibo Express have all chosen collective silence.

It's not that their conscience finds out, but they are afraid of being settled by the future. Now it is still unknown who will win between Zhongxing Group and Microsoft Valley Brother.

It is obviously irrational to take sides at this time.

"Boss, we are ready." Ye Donghe said calmly.

"Well, let's have a good time with them. Didn't Microsoft force a patch to ban Taiwei's system? Let the Software Research Institute crack this ban patch, and we will make their system blind." Huang Haojie sneered.

Ye Donghe nodded. Zhongxing Group had already anticipated this incident. It would be strange if Brother Gu, Microsoft and the others had no reaction.

Zhongxing Group is not afraid of them when it comes to filing patent lawsuits, and filing patent lawsuits domestically.

Google, Microsoft, and their patents may be inescapable for English language programs, but for Chinese language programs, the two are fundamentally different.

Just like grilling with charcoal and grilling with an electric stove, the two functions are the same, but the technology to achieve them is different.

Functions cannot be patented. Is it possible that barbecue can also be patented?

Obviously it's impossible. If this could be done, there would be too many things in the world that could be patented, such as eating, drinking, breathing air, walking, and writing.

What can be patented is not the function of barbecue, but how to achieve barbecue, such as using charcoal barbecue, the specifications of the charcoal, how to place it, what auxiliary materials need to be added, etc.

The Taiwei system is developed based on the Chinese language. Even some appearance patents that may be involved have been comprehensively sorted out by Zhongxing Group.

Under Zhong's filter, they wanted to sue Zhongxing Group for patent infringement, but they were afraid they didn't know how to write the word "death".

This is also the confidence of Zhongxing Group. The two are different in terms of technology.

Of course, if it is an alphabetical language such as French, German, or Russian, Google, Microsoft, and the others can still sue each other.

Because English and French are very similar, they are equivalent to being born from the same parents. In terms of language genes, their basic framework is the same.

But Chinese and English are completely different, because Chinese is a two-dimensional language, while English is a one-dimensional language.

In this way, when implementing the same function, it is impossible for Chinese and English to use the same framework and coding.

So Guge Microsoft and the others made a fatal mistake this time. They ignored the possibility of Zhongxing Group adopting Chinese language. In other words, the arrogance and prejudice of Westerners solidified their thinking.

Soon Zhongxing Group announced on its official website that it would respond to the lawsuit, and at the same time appealed to the Pengcheng Court, accusing Gu Ge Microsoft and others of falsely accusing Zhongxing Group and causing economic losses to Zhongxing Group, demanding compensation of US$130.2 billion.

For a time, the two sides were tit for tat, tit for tat.

Even the well-established Internet companies in China were shocked by the Zhongxing Group. So many patents would be infringed upon by Microsystems.

So why does Zhongxing Group have the confidence to go head-to-head with Google? What gives Zhongxing Group the courage to sue the other party?

These questions puzzle Penguin, Ali, and Qiandu.

And a lot of people are eating melon online, watching the stars battle against the patent alliance of Google and Microsoft.
