The Playground of the Gods

The Titan’s massive arm shattered the steel skyscraper into pieces…

Crushed by the Titan’s fists,

The outer walls of the building came down, turning into thousands and thousands of steel debris.

The debris, larger than the size of Fei began to fall to the ground.

“Kyaaaa!!?” (Probably every other lady apostles)

“DEFEND!!” (Captain of the Apostle group)

“YOU WILL GET CRUSHED OTHERWISE!!” (Captain of the Apostle group)

The atmosphere was of complete chaos.

Screams and Cries reverberated the area.

The first ones to move where the apostles having the blessings of Superhuman Strength. With the reaction speed and leg power unknown to humans, they kicked away those falling rubble.

And then,

The it was the turn for the apostles with the blessing of Supernatural abilities.

“KONOHA! KRITZ! FAST! PUT UP A BARRIER!” (Captain of the Apostle group)

“I—I AM ON IT!” (Konoha)

“ACTIVATING!” (Kritz)

Wind type and Gravity type magic was used by the apostles.

The apostles who were of about the same age of Fei, extended their hand on to the skies

and…

The clouds burst open.

A stormy wind erupted in the very place as it exterminated all the rubbles regardless of its size.

…. Such were the power of the ‘Arise’,

A Curse, a Blessing given upon humans by the Gods.

A power deemed extremely important, indispensable, in order to compete with the Gods.

And when you challenge in a large force, because of this, one is able to stand against and rival these Gods, the Gods, who LOVE to play a game based on strength.

All were of the same idea.

That being in a large force is necessary

All But one….

Fei.

And that too… in an uncomfortable way…

“……. Oi OI OIII?!” (some mob apostle)

As the cold drops of sweat traversed down the spine of Fei;

Fei jumps back towards the rubbles… (and), The Titan at full speed.

Fei’s spell of Arise is a bit different.

It is not actually capable of dealing with rough objects.

His ‘Arise’ was not completely of the Superhuman category, while it was not at all like the Supernatural category who could stop the huge falling rubble of stones.

Still, he went forward.

……..

“Get away Reche, this might get dangerous—” (Fei)

“What might?” (Reche)

The girl with flame like Vermilion hair turned around and looked as if saying “Really?”.

and…

The same girl without looking back up, shot up a punch directed towards the falling rubbles….

And….

The result….

All the falling rubbles turned… crushed into dust…

A shockwave..

A tremendous shockwave burst towards the skies, some strokes even stroking the unguarded skin of Fei standing near her.

“……A..a…. un… nope…. It’s nothing actually.” (Fei)

Fei looks at the shattered fragments, dust, which were now falling on the ground.

They were not just destroyed…

They were pulverized

into…

Chocolate? Aren’t the pieces falling look like melted chocolate…

This was the state of ‘them’ without even the direct contact with Reche’s Fist.

….. As expected of The Great (former) God

….. Telling herself to be ‘The Manifestation of Fire in human form’ was indeed not just for show.

Well, now to mention…

Now I kind of understand now, that, why Head Manager Miranda continuously reminded me to not offend or irritate her… We would definitely not want anything like this in real world too…

…. And…, for some reason… the person in question… is smiling… grinning for some time now.

“Hmmmmm?” (smile) (Reche)

“….. what is with those incredibly unscrupulous smiles…” (Fei) [TL note: unscrupulous meaning devious/sly]

“You have a surprisingly cute side, don’t you ~. You look calm, but you got worried for me, right ~. but, did you become worried about my safety? You thought that I might get hit by those sharp pieces of debris and became worried right? “ (Reche)

“Right ~?” (smiling, smirking I guess xD) (Reche)

As Reche finishes, she brings her face closer to Fei suddenly.

Fei’s mind was blank

He was unable to think, unable to respond.

… It was just that, Fei was somehow feeling emotions of extreme embarrassment after that conversation.

“I… I understood that there was nothing to worry about.“ (Fei)

“Anyways, let’s run away for now. Firstly, by the theory corresponding to the classic Tag (Onigokko).” (Fei)

“Un… no objections.” (smile) (Reche)

They run from the open space towards the space with many buildings.

To not get caught by the person with the role of the Demon… was the first

standard rule of the game of Tag (Onigokko).

“So… Are the people from the other sides okay too?” (Fei)

There were in total of 16 apostles running behind Fei.

In that event of the building getting destroyed, if only one person was able to escape out of it. The result would actually be not anything strange. But. The fact that all are able to come out of the safely, is in a way astonishing.

…… Rather. Isn’t that just a signal given by God Titan to start the game.

…… That would mean, from now on, the real thing is about to come.

Fei looked back.

And as if confirming his beliefs, one of the apostles towards the end cried out loud.

“Captain! The God Titan has started to move!” (some mob apostle)

The building; crumbled.

As those buildings crumbled, out of the thick dust came a rock giant that was close in height to a skyscraper.

The Titan was looking at the humans on the ground… its eyes were shinning…

And then, The Titan began to run straight towards them. Every step it took created incredible shockwave and explosive sounds. With every impact on the asphalt ground, loud screams of shattering sound reverberated the area.

“WHA!? FAST!?” (some mob apostle)

“CAPTAIN ITS IMPOSSIBLE! EVEN THE SUPERHUMAN APOSTLE CAN’T WIN AGAINST THAT SPEED!” (some mob apostle)

“The Magician Squa…” (says softly) (Captain of the Apostle group)

“NO, IT’S STILL IMPOSSIBLE!” (some mob apostle)

“PLEASE DON’T FORGET THIS IS THE CENTER OF THE CITY!” (some mob apostle)

The captain instructed pointing towards the main street…

“SCATTER!” (Captain of the Apostle group)

“HIDE IN THE SHADE OF THE BUILDINGS.” (Captain of the Apostle group)

“FROM THE TITAN’S POINT OF VIEW, WE ARE ALL JUST ANTS. SO, RUN AWAY AND HIDE. JUST AS ANTS HIDE BEHIND GRASS.” (Captain of the Apostle group)

“HA!” (ROGER!) (All Apostles)

The participating apostles began to start running towards different buildings.

Fei and Reche too does as the captain asked. The apostles divided into six group of three, as each start moving towards separate, different buildings.

“…..haa…. haa… haa… *sigh” (tired) (?)

“Playing Tag with a Giant like that. If games like this is asked upon, Wizards like me would have no role to play!” (?)

The one saying these was Asta. A sempai of Fei. She continuously criticized the game while somehow managing to hide behind the wall of a building. She was clearly out of breath.

Her Divine blessing, ‘Arise’ is that of the Supernatural category.

Unlike the Superhuman Category, there is almost no elevation on the physical capabilities.

Running to this point continuously was definitely a struggle for her up until now.

“It was supposed to be a game of Tag… But what we are now actually doing is perhaps a game of ‘Hide and Seek’ eh?” (not Asta/Fei/Reche)

From the shadow of one of the buildings, an apostle, it was as if a boy apostle looked at them.

The apostle was not actually an acquaintance of Fei. but by what it appeared, he possessed a Superhuman type of “Arise”. Since, even though chased by the Titan, even after running till all the way here, there was no discomfort in his breath.

“The difference between our capacity (The Titan and Superhuman apostle) is so much that even I, a Superhuman type is at a disadvantage. Peeping from the shadow of the building is the correct approach. Actually, why don’t we just hide in deep inside this building?” (Asta)

“Yes, I too think the same vice-captain. If we enter from the backdoor of the building, then perhaps we won’t get noticed!” (Apostle Boy)

“That would be a bad decision. You should probably leave it Asta sempai.” (Fei)

“Hue?” (Asta)

As she was moving towards the backdoor, and turned to look towards Fei, her proud golden hair fluttered around in the air.

[TL: Hair fetish? Hmm… who knows?]

“Why.. why Fei?” (Asta)

“Going and hiding inside the building might be really dangerous. First of all, the risk in taking that decision without knowing its dangers is irresponsible.”

ZUNNN… (sound of footsteps)

By the footsteps of Titan, it seemed to appear that the Titan was slowly coming towards them.

Even though Fei was unable to see whether it was true or not, he could understand that the Titan was near and coming towards them.

“The God is probably roughly aware of the path we took to escape.” (Fei/Reche)

“That’s why we should hide inside the building!” *(Asta)

“Well, if The God feels like it, he could just destroy the building. whatever path you take to escape, one way or the another, it will catch up to you.” (Fei)

If you get found out, its instant defeat.

Then…

Why not take a silver line of hope and hide inside the building, praying that we don’t get caught in the destruction of the building.

That option would definitely be valid but for a normal game of Tag.

but…

“I will say it again, it’s really a bad idea. You’ll never be able to win with that.” (Fei)

“Why?… why won’t I!?” (Asta)

“Because ——! “ (Fei)

“Cra*! sempai run over here!!!” (soft voice) (Fei)

“Hue? Is something wrong?” (Asta)

Asta was standing still, unknowing of her surroundings.

She was so into the conversation that she did not realize.

That.

From just the opposite side of the building, from the very back, a face..

larger than that of an elephant,

Of a God, was looking upon her from there.

…… It found us that fast!?

…… Was it because of our voice? Smell?

OR

Both!?

There is no time to contemplate.

“Asta! Run towards us!! “ (Fei)

and…

“Don’t look back!!“ (Fei)

“What happened vice-captain?” (Boy Apostle)

Don’t turn back.

But…

That was impossible

Even if someone is asked not to, there is no human who would not, when said to.

Asta unconsciously looked back at the person who called upon her. The very person who asked her what happened. The apostle boy who called her by those words,

‘Vice-Captain’.

“ky…… K Y A A A A A A A A A A H H H  H H H H ――――――――…………” (Asta)

She was crushed….

She was trampled upon…

TL note: I used uppercase to also signify high pitched voice. Since while there is so much sound, obviously those apostles would speak aloud to hear themselves clearly.

I thought of including some technical terms like smirking or smiling or saying in soft voice etc etc. Do tell if it seems unnecessary.
