Adam was currently trying his best to arrange the events in his mind to prepare for his future course of action. He knew that he had to move fast right now. But he couldn't just rush it and mess everything up. He needed to carefully approach this problem and find a surefire method to success.

'Ideally, even if a few people have to be sacrificed, I can afford to wait.'

The most important point at the moment was to make sure Natasha's consciousness was not swallowed by the Wolf within her and took control of her body.

"Nothing has changed, in the end."

Well, things had changed, to a great degree, in fact. But in the core of it all, things didn't really change. Nothing changed, it just became slightly harder than before.

All he had to do was to stay focused and composed, and solve this problem to save his love.

'Don't falter. Don't hesitate. You can do it. No, you must do it.'

He tried to push the shadow he had sent over to the location so that it could breach the barrier but it seemed more or less impossible.

"Do you see that barrier?"

"Yes. It's not a normal veil, something to prevent the world from seeing through the supernatural events. However, to me, it seems a bit different. I think it's more of a Phantasm Realm than a simple barrier."

Tsubasa's spiders were moving rapidly and were observing the situation in Natasha's mansion simultaneously as Adam did with the usage of his shadows. Normally, spiders should have already died in this weather sporting sub-zero temperatures. However, by adding a bit of her Prana and giving up on stealth, she could make sure they at least could still move and observe the general circumstances surrounding the barrier.

"Can you teleport us both directly or is it limited to only you?"

"I can't. I tried in the past but anyone who follows me will just die."

"Well, death isn't really much of a problem for me. You just have to make sure that my head is with you."

"Ah…"

Tsubasa nodded her head as she remembered that Adam could come back from the dead. The reason behind it, well, she didn't wish to pry. Everyone had their secrets.

"Is your head your weak point, perhaps?"

"No, I don't have any weak points. But I always seem to resurrect wherever my head was. If you leave my head in some strange place then it will be a bit troublesome for me."

He cracked his neck a bit before adding. "I don't know much about barriers. So educate me. Can we somehow destroy it?"

"Yes. Destroying a Phantasm Realm from the outside is surprisingly easy. Well, relatively speaking. They are unnatural and the will of the world itself tries to crush them and destroy their existence so there's a lot of help from the top. However, there is a slight problem."

She pointed toward the spreading chill that was affecting the world in real time and was changing the overall weather of the entire city.

"What you are seeing is not a direct manipulation. This is merely the subset of Fenrir's power corrupting the land it treads on. Though the Wolf we are about to deal with is merely a shadow and nowhere near equal to the True Fenrir, the fact still remains that, Fenrir is a world-destroying entity. So the power he has when it comes to affecting the world is pretty significant if you ask me."

This was one of the reasons why entities beyond a certain level were not accepted on Earth even if they were not filled with nefarious intentions.

Gods and entities at that level affected the world simply by their existence alone. The shift of emotions in a god of earth could bring about an earthquake which could even split the world in hald. While a god of the sea could bring a Tsunami that could drown all lands.

As one of the highest godly entities—

"The moment this barrier is broken— at least half of LA will become a pure land of death with no living beings. The second half would not last very long and would be submerged in an eternal winter. Death… is inevitable."

It was a grim reminder but Adam had to take it into account.

"Currently, Natasha should be fighting inwardly so this barrier still exists to cover it all up. But… I don't think she can last very long. Fenrir is more overwhelmingly powerful than I initially expected it to be."

"You don't seem very worried."

"Oh… I am. I really am. Though I am mainly contemplating how to help you grieve should anything happen to Natasha."

— As for what would happen to LA?

She honestly didn't care much about it. The LAPPD existed for a reason after all. It was time for them to shine on what they did best — Saving this city.

Tsubasa kept her smile as if she did not speak about how she wouldn't care if the entire population got erased as long as he was happy and well.

This heaviness was welcome right now. Because she needed someone crazy like this alongside him only by acting crazy in this situation would he become able to go through it.

'I hope Fedora is alright.'

He sighed inwardly and took Tsubasa's hand in his, preparing for the coming teleportation, "Let's go."

All of his senses opened wide and focused simultaneously as he analyzed what Tsubasa wanted to do and how it would transpire. The [Eyes of Truth] were supposed to be able to see the essence of any and all things. That was the basest function and the truth upon which this skill worked.

This was the very moment for it to finally show what it was made of.

Whoosh~!

Light covered the two for a very short moment before a gate appeared and the two of them walked through it.

All Adam could say was that… it was a dizzying experience… at least, at the start…

For a moment, Adam felt like he was being compressed and stretched from all possible sides. The sky became the ground and the ground somehow ended up at the sky.

It was truly a sickening sensation and finally…

Plop.

He felt like something had burst inside of him. From his blood veins to his organs and finally, his heart… every single organ inside his body was crushed due to the compression of space.

In the end— the inevitable occurred. He had died.

———

When Tsubasa walked through the gate that opened close to Natasha's mansion, she was completely bathed in blood and organs and only had a head in her hand.

Anyone else would have been traumatized but Tsubasa knew that Adam was alive and well. Hence, and all she could was the peaceful expression of his head in her arms.

For a moment, a very very short moment, Tsubasa wondered if she should destroy the head and keep the biggest piece to herself to delay his resurrection.

By doing so, she would be able to keep him all to herself and flee somewhere. Somewhere nobody could find them. It would just be the two of them.

Sadly—

'I cannot keep him captive.'

Not only would he be unhappy, but she didn't have any good means to keep him inactive all day without him escaping somehow. He simply had too many skills with him and far too many secrets and connections that would let him escape from her grasp.

Meanwhile, Adam was facing something else in the realm of his mind.

Once again, he was back to the same dark place that he once trod upon when he had obtained that trait of his. But this time, he had a blurry view of the outside world. As if he was barely connected to [The World] and could observe everything while remaining in this place.

This was interesting but the most important was—

[You have experienced death through the Compression of Space for the very first time.]

[Small Resistance to Space type skills acquired]

[Small Resistance to Time type skills acquired]

[The power of Origin reacts to the insight you have gained into the Concept of Space. Your understanding is not enough to give birth to a new skill. Study the laws of space-time more profoundly and get access to a new dimension.]

— This was perhaps the very first good news he received on this night.

[You have died many times…]

[The skill Adaptation is evolving to its next stage…]

[Resistance to all types of elements has been gathered, giving birth to a new skill— Iron Body]

[Iron Body—

Rank: B

Description: A powerful skill that gives you a general resistance to all damage and all magics and natural phenomena. This skill can evolve in the A rank Silver Body.]

[You have died too many times]

[The trait Eternal Damnation is Evolving]

[Time of Death now greatly shortened. Slight consciousness is possible even during Death.]

[Warning: The trait, Eternal Damnation, might bring attention from otherworldly entities. Be careful on your endeavors…]

[Your affinity with the power of Death increases significantly…]

[Entities related to the concept of Death are more likely to be favorable to you.]

[The favorability of the gods of Death toward you may decrease or increase instantly if they realize your identity.]

— And it didn't take long for bad news to follow as always.
