52 The Old Gate

June took a deep breath and looked in the direction of the big tray on which four half filled bowls of those spices were kept.

Then he picked up the bowl containing the most spiciest of the flavor that was used in the two grilled fishes that the two sisters were eating and gave it to the Maka Soma who was sitting closest to him.

"You can consider this as a gift" June said to Maka Soma with a smile.

It was not any kind of a loss for June after all he had already agreed to trade all of these four, half filled bowls of spices so obviously he would not loose anything by handing out just one out of those four bowls of spice before time.

Maka Soma just nodded with a little improvement in his facial expression but that was not the case for the two sisters. Both Misa and Nisa Some were clearly very excited from the June's little gesture.

Upon noticing that the atmosphere had become relaxed once again, June knew that now the time was right so he asked another question that had been bugging him ever since he had first heard the poem 'Red Heavens' form the head elder's mouth.

"So, what is currently behind those large mountains?"

To which the Maka Soma replied with a simple sentence "No one alive knows".

Head elder Hason Soma further elaborated, "Since a very long time our ancestors had warned us never to cross those white mountains, and it has been known that only the wild beasts which are much more dangerous than anything that anyone has ever seen reside there now."

"This is the main reason that every single person living within these Oma Hills knows about the poem 'Red Heavens'. It serves as a reminder of hope for many but at the same time also as a strict warning to the future generations in case they start to get a little curious and start to move towards those mountains."

After hearing this answer June replied with one more question of his own "but in that case after some point of time, this whole mountain range including these Oma Hills would become their hunting zone and then what could be stopping those dangerous wild beasts from reaching this place?"

"The Old Gate"

Replied the head elder with these three words.

June already had an idea about this part after all this is how the distribution of water streams normally takes place in any mountain range but what he heard after this sent his whole mindset in a turmoil.

"That specific area where that large river further divides into three smaller river streams marks the starting boundary of the Oma Hills Region, and at exactly that location is where the 'Old Gate' is situated. This 'Old Gate' marks the ending of hills and the beginning of mountains and this 'Old Gate' is all that is currently standing between those wild beasts and our five villages of Oma Hills."

Through his sharp senses and high speed mental analysis, as far as June could tell there were no lies in any of these statements of the head elder Hason Soma.

Hence June did not ask any further when he sensed that the head elder had suddenly become quiet after speaking this much.

June was not an impatient guy, and he also had a feeling that the situation could very easily become a little uncomfortable if he asked too much about this topic.

So, he looked in the direction of the little Tinum who had already finished eating his plate of the grilled fish and smiled while looking at his small but bloated body.
