#269 - Stubborn flower petals

Chapter 267: The Stubborn Floette

More than fifty years ago, the Bone-Patterned Loudred wasn't yet the king of the Gaoyin Forest; back then, the Gaoyin Forest wasn't even called the Gaoyin Forest.

One day, while the Bone-Patterned Loudred was gathering fruit by the river, it suddenly saw something floating towards it from afar.

As the object drifted closer, it realized it was a human, a small boy, about ten years old.

Out of kindness, the Bone-Patterned Loudred pulled him from the river and took him home.

After examining him, the Bone-Patterned Loudred discovered that the boy had suffered severe injuries and was running a high fever; his condition was critical.

So, the Bone-Patterned Loudred sought out the elder of the forest, an aged Venusaur.

The Venusaur was the longest-living Pokémon in the forest, proficient in herbal medicine. With its help, the boy's injuries were alleviated, and his fever gradually subsided.

The Bone-Patterned Loudred cared for the boy for a day and a night before he slowly awoke.

The boy was initially very surprised when he saw the Bone-Patterned Loudred, even showing fear. However, after learning that it was the Bone-Patterned Loudred who had saved him, he gradually lowered his guard.

Because his injuries hadn't healed, the boy didn't leave immediately after waking up. The Bone-Patterned Loudred didn't drive him away either, but instead, took meticulous care of him.

Every day, the Bone-Patterned Loudred would gather medicinal herbs needed to heal the boy's injuries and bring him delicious food.

The reason the Bone-Patterned Loudred was so good to the boy was that it was pregnant and exuding maternal instincts.

As they spent more time together, the bond between the Bone-Patterned Loudred and the boy deepened. It even regarded the boy as its own child.

Thus, the boy stayed in the forest for nearly half a year. His injuries had healed, but he didn't seem to have any intention of leaving.

Since he didn't leave, the Bone-Patterned Loudred allowed him to live with it.

Every day, the boy would go out with the Bone-Patterned Loudred to find food, eat, sleep, and play together in the forest, as if he had become a member of the forest.

With the Bone-Patterned Loudred's introduction, he also got to know the Venusaur. Upon learning that it was the Venusaur's herbal knowledge that had saved him, he immediately expressed his gratitude.

In the days that followed, besides accompanying the Bone-Patterned Loudred, he often visited the Venusaur, and each time, he would bring small gifts, sometimes a fruit, sometimes a bouquet of flowers…

Although the boy couldn't understand the Bone-Patterned Loudred's cry, he guessed what it was asking, so he immediately shook his head with a smile.

“How could I? Since you don't want to go to the human world with me, then I'll stay in the forest with you forever!”

“Kele…kele…” The Bone-Patterned Loudred was very happy to hear this, without suspecting the boy's words in the slightest.

Another month passed, and with the help of the Venusaur, the Bone-Patterned Loudred successfully gave birth to a healthy Pokémon egg.

Because it had just finished giving birth, the Bone-Patterned Loudred fell asleep out of exhaustion, while the Venusaur stayed behind to take care of it.

The Bone-Patterned Loudred didn't have a husband; its relationship with the father of the child was one where they separated after completing the reproductive task, so the father had long since disappeared.

The Bone-Patterned Loudred didn't know how long it had slept. When it woke up and wanted to find the boy, it discovered that he was gone.

Also missing with the boy was the Bone-Patterned Loudred's newborn child.

Dragging its body, which hadn't yet recovered, the Bone-Patterned Loudred anxiously searched for the boy and its child, still unaware of what had happened.

It wasn't until it found the Venusaur's home and saw the Venusaur collapsed on the ground.

The Venusaur's home was a mess; all the medicinal herbs it had carefully cultivated were gone.

The Venusaur was of a high level and had a long lifespan, but it had lived for too long and was already at the end of its life. It usually relied on absorbing the energy from the medicinal herbs to sustain its life.

Now that the medicinal herbs were all gone, the Venusaur had lost the energy to sustain its life.

At this moment, the Bone-Patterned Loudred finally understood that all of this was done by the boy. He had stolen its child and also stolen the Venusaur's precious medicinal herbs.

The Bone-Patterned Loudred suddenly remembered that the first time the boy saw the Venusaur's medicinal herbs, he had said that these herbs would fetch a good price if taken to the human world.

So…

Realizing that the boy had betrayed it, the Bone-Patterned Loudred went mad. It began searching for the boy everywhere.

But how could it possibly find him? Who knew where that boy had run off to!

Returning empty-handed, the Bone-Patterned Loudred fell into deep self-blame and endless hatred.

If it hadn't brought the boy back, none of this would have happened.

What staying in the forest to accompany it, what friends, partners, family, were all lies, all lies that the guy used to deceive it!!!

Half a year later, the Venusaur passed away because it had lost the energy to sustain itself.

The Venusaur was highly respected in the forest and was a beloved Pokémon. With its death, all the Pokémon in the forest resented the boy and resented humans!

This was the reason why the Pokémon in the Gaoyin Forest would go crazy and attack An Jie as soon as they saw him, and why few people had been able to enter the Gaoyin Forest in recent decades.

After the Venusaur passed away, the Bone-Patterned Loudred, driven by hatred and self-blame, worked hard and constantly strived to become stronger, eventually becoming the king of this forest!

After listening to the Bone-Patterned Loudred's story, An Jie couldn't help but sigh.

“That person was indeed too detestable!”

“Kele…kele…” After finishing the story, the Bone-Patterned Loudred's face was full of anger, even directing its anger at An Jie, who was also human.

Seeing this, An Jie said, “I know the reason why you hate humans, but that doesn't mean all humans are bad people! For example, I am a kind-hearted and handsome man.”

“Kele…kele…” Upon hearing this, the Bone-Patterned Loudred immediately roared in anger. You? A good person? Would a good person threaten me?

An Jie knew that with the Bone-Patterned Loudred's experience, it would be very difficult for it to immediately change its views on humans, so he changed the subject and said:

“Bone-Patterned Loudred, do you know that person's name?”

“Xiao Chen!” The Bone-Patterned Loudred said through gritted teeth, as if it wanted to grind the name to dust with its teeth.

“Xiao Chen, huh…” An Jie murmured the name. It wouldn't be easy to find the target with such a common name. So he asked again, “Does he have any distinguishing features?”

Upon hearing this, the Bone-Patterned Loudred pondered for a moment, then began to describe Xiao Chen's appearance, which gave An Jie a headache.

In the Bone-Patterned Loudred's description, Xiao Chen had a nose, a mouth, and two eyes… But… But the key is, who doesn't look like that?

"Is there anything else? Something more specific?" Ange asked.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc seemed to suddenly remember something, "Oh right, he has a long scar from his forehead to his brow!"

This scar was left from his injury back then.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc then realized that even now, it didn't know how Little Chen was injured or how he ended up in the Ge Yin Jungle.

"That's a clear feature!" Ange nodded, "I'll do my best to help you find him!"

"Okay~" The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc nodded, but the look in its eyes towards Ange still carried obvious distrust. If Ange hadn't threatened it, it wouldn't have taken this opportunity to compromise.

Just then, Floette suddenly flew forward, pointing at Ange and saying, "I want to go to the human world with him!"

Ange and the Pokémon were stunned.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc asked, "What are you going to do in the human world?"

Floette replied, "I'm going to monitor this human to prevent him from breaking his promise. I also want to help the king find his child. Humans aren't reliable, I want to go find him myself!"

The three Flabébé immediately flew to Floette's side and said to the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc:

"Labe~ Labe~" We're going too, we want to help!

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc roared angrily, "Shut up, none of you are allowed to go! Do you know what the human world is like? Do you know how scary humans are?"

"Hula~" But... ...

Floette still wanted to argue, she looked at Ange and felt that humans weren't as scary as the king said.

This human is so handsome!

Unfortunately, before she could say anything, she was stopped by the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc.

"Okay~ Okay~" I said no, and that means no!

Seeing that the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc was angry, Floette fell silent.

Seeing that the atmosphere was not good, Ange quickly said, "Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc, I have already agreed to your request, can you give me the Red Butterfly Grass now?"

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc glanced at Ange, "Follow me!"

As it spoke, the small fireball on its nose suddenly floated up and turned into a giant firebird.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc jumped onto the firebird's back, and the firebird carried it into the sky.

Seeing this, Ange quickly climbed onto Latios' back and rode Latios to chase after it.

He followed the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc all the way forward, crossing half of the Ge Yin Jungle, and finally flew to a cliff?

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc landed on the ground, Ange followed closely behind, only to see green vines growing all over the cliff wall.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc pushed aside a vine, revealing a cave hidden behind the vines, and then walked in.

Ange took Latias and Latios and followed him in.

The cave was very dark, and Latios quickly released light to illuminate Ange.

After passing through the narrow cave, the scene in front of Ange suddenly opened up. Behind the cave was a beautiful valley, with swaying Red Butterfly Grass growing everywhere.

The red Red Butterfly Grass seemed to have covered the entire valley with a red carpet. In the Red Butterfly Grass bushes, Vivillon of various colors and patterns danced gracefully, it was simply like a painting, breathtakingly beautiful.

"Okay~ Okay~" Hurry up and pick it! Leave quickly after picking!

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc urged.

Ange took out scissors and a basket, handed the basket to Latias to carry, and then he began to pick the Red Butterfly Grass at the top of the plant.

The basket was quickly filled, and Ange stopped immediately when he saw that the quantity was almost enough.

Suddenly, he had an idea. Should he dig up a few Red Butterfly Grass plants and plant them at home?

Red Butterfly Grass is very rare, and it's rare to encounter so many.

The key is that Red Butterfly Grass is really beautiful. Although it is not a flower, it has beauty far exceeding most flowers.

"Can I dig up a few Red Butterfly Grass plants and take them back?" Ange asked, looking at the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc hesitated, but thinking that Ange had saved the Flabébé, Floette, and Mantis that were almost injured by itself, it finally nodded gently.

Just a few Red Butterfly Grass plants.

"Great, thank you, Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc!"

Ange happily took out a small shovel and started digging. He wasn't greedy and stopped after digging only three plants.

Red Butterfly Grass reproduces through rhizomes. As long as one plant survives, it can quickly reproduce into a patch.

If all three plants are killed by him, Ange would naturally accept his fate, which means that he has no connection with Red Butterfly Grass, and there is no need to continue destroying this precious herb.

Although Red Butterfly Grass is not widely used in medicine, according to Nurse Joy, there are not many of these plants left.

After putting the dug-up Red Butterfly Grass into his system backpack, Ange said goodbye to the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc.

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc couldn't wait for Ange to leave, so it urged:

"Okay~ Okay~" Leave quickly! Leave quickly!

Ange came out of the previous cave, rode on Latios, and flew towards the edge of the Ge Yin Jungle.

Whether it was because the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc had given advance notice, no Pokémon attacked him this time. Even if there were flying Pokémon flying past him, they directly ignored him.

Just as Ange flew to the edge of the jungle, four figures blocked his way.

"You... ..." Ange looked surprised when he saw them.

All four Pokémon were carrying a small package made of leaves on their backs, and they looked at Ange with serious expressions. Who else could it be but Floette and Flabébé?!

Floette stepped forward and said, "We are going to go with you to monitor you, don't even think about deceiving the king!"

Ange asked, "Does the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc know that you are leaving?"

"Hula... ..." Of... ...of course he kn... ...knows!

"Labe... ..." Yes, it's the king... ...who... ...let us come!

Floette and the Flabébé stammered.

Ange guessed that they had run away from home, so without hesitation, he grabbed Floette by the back of her neck and said:

"Let's go, I'll send you back!"

If he secretly took Floette and the Flabébé away, the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc's opinion of humans would probably be even worse. He shouldn't cause trouble.

"Hula~ Hula~" Let go of me, let go of me! I'm not going back, I'm not going back!

Floette struggled violently, and the Flabébé flew over one after another, constantly patting Ange with their small hands.

Unfortunately, in Ange's opinion, not only did he not feel any pain, but it highlighted the Flabébé's playfulness and cuteness.

What cute creatures!

So, amidst the protests of Floette and the Flabébé, Ange took the four Pokémon back to the Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc!

The Bone-Patterned Roaring Croc was furious when it learned that Floette and the others were still "unrepentant" and was about to scold them.

Floette stubbornly stuck out her neck: Scold me, just scold me, you can scold me however you want!
