Gourmet master of the Pokemon world
#8 - Get closer
Anji picked up the shovel and turned over the soil, then Diancie used a hoe to break up the large clumps of earth.
After digging a small patch, Anji leaned on the shovel handle and straightened up. "It seems not just anyone can do this kind of work." He already felt a backache after working for only a short while.
Hearing this, Diancie mocked Anji, "Anji, you're not up to it!"
"You say I'm not up to it?" Anji retorted immediately, "You dare say I'm not up to it?" He stepped on the shovel and dug fiercely into the ground, "I'll show you today whether I'm up to it or not!"
However, ten minutes later, Anji once again leaned on the shovel handle, supporting his back as he straightened up. "Ouch, ouch, it seems I really am not up to it."
Diancie immediately burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at!" Anji glared at Diancie irritably.
"Hahaha ~ ~" Diancie laughed even harder.
Anji rubbed his aching back and turned to look at Komala, "Komala, do you want to come down and help? A family shares the blessings and bears the burdens together!"
Anji was just asking casually, but unexpectedly, Komala actually rolled over.
It raised the log pillow in its hand, and a bright green light shone from the pillow, then it slammed it hard on the ground. The ground shook, the soil clumps turned over, and a patch of land was cleared just like that.
"It's Wood Hammer!" Anji exclaimed.
The move Komala just used was the Grass-type physical move Wood Hammer.
"Komala, you're so great, unlike some people." Diancie glanced at Anji as she spoke.
Anji: . . .
"No personal attacks allowed!"
Diancie pretended to be innocent and said, "I didn't say you, why are you in such a hurry to assume I meant you?"
Anji said angrily, "Just wait, when I do a few more tasks and get a few more stat points, I'll beat you guys until you call me daddy!"
Diancie shrugged nonchalantly, "Well, I'll be waiting."
Planting flowers doesn't require a large area. The area cleared by Komala with one Wood Hammer was already enough, so Anji dropped the shovel and squatted down to pick out the weeds from the ground one by one.
If the weeds aren't cleared out completely, they will soon come back to life and compete with the flowers for nutrients.
Komala wasn't idle either. It rolled around in the dirt, using the log pillow in its hand along with Diancie to break up the large clumps of soil.
It just got covered in mud, and it will need a good wash later.
Anji looked at Diancie and Komala, who were busy and happy, and a smile couldn't help but appear on his face.
He really likes his current life, with lovely companions and a not-too-busy career. The days are peaceful and serene.
Seeing Anji, Litwick's expression was a little unnatural. It turned and called out to the bushes behind it twice. Then Pancham, Helioptile, Glameow, Stunky and other Pokémon jumped out of the bushes one after another. The last one to come out was the Gulpin that Anji knew.
Seeing Gulpin, Anji smiled and greeted it, "Oh, it's you. Are these your companions?"
Gulpin nodded gently.
"Hello everyone, my name is Anji, and I'm a human who just moved to the Nibel Plateau." Anji knew that the Pokémon were afraid of him, but he still greeted them generously.
The Pokémon took two steps back timidly.
Seeing this, Diancie quickly stepped forward and asked, "Do you have something to do here? Are you here for food?"
Litwick mustered its courage and took the lead, shaking its head first, and then explaining its purpose.
It turned out that after learning that the one who sent them food was a human, despite being very scared, they still decided to come and express their gratitude. They wouldn't ignore Anji's kindness to them just because they hated humans.
After listening to Diancie's translation, Anji said, "You want to repay me?"
"Moo hee ~"
Litwick nodded.
"I see…" Anji lowered his head and pondered. After a dozen seconds, he suddenly said, "How about this, I'm planning to plant some flowers, will you help?"
Easing the relationship with the Pokémon couldn't be rushed. He would start by creating opportunities to spend more time with them. He believed that as time went on, everyone would gradually accept him.
Hearing Anji's suggestion, Litwick hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.
"Okay, let's start then."
As he spoke, Anji began to assign tasks to the Pokémon.
Planting flowers requires fertilizer, which Anji obviously didn't have. He could buy it in the system, but he didn't have many Happiness Points, so he couldn't bear to.
Since that was the case, he would have to make it himself.
Anji asked Pancham, Scraggy, Helioptile, and Pachirisu to collect some dead leaves, dead branches, humus, and Pokémon droppings.
The flower bed also needed to be surrounded by some stones, so he asked Litleo, Glameow, Stunky, Swirlix, Zigzagoon, and Gulpin to move some stones back.
The stones couldn't be too small, but if they were too big, the Pokémon might not be able to move them, so Anji instructed Gulpin that if it encountered stones that were too big, it should use its poison to corrode the stones into smaller pieces before moving them.
As for Litwick…
Although Anji had picked out all the weeds from the ground, there were bound to be some roots and seeds left in the soil, so he asked Litwick to use its flames to carefully bake the loose soil, which would not only remove the weeds but also sterilize the soil.
After the tasks were assigned, the Pokémon immediately started working.
Before long, piles of dead branches and leaves, humus, manure, and stones were brought back by the Pokémon.
Pachirisu is a very clean Pokémon. Anji actually asked it to pick up poop. When it carried the poop wrapped in leaves, its disgusted expression made everyone laugh.
Fortunately, the poop that could be found outside was already dried, otherwise Pachirisu might have jumped up and scratched Anji's face.
After the ground was processed, it had to be left to dry for a while, because Litwick had just used fire to bake it, and the temperature in the ground was a bit high.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Anji took Pancham and the others to ferment fertilizer, while Diancie took Litleo and the others to surround the ground with stones.
Anji first dug a deep pit next to the ground with a shovel, then asked Litwick to ignite the branches and dead leaves. Then he and Pancham and the others mixed the ashes, humus, and Pokémon poop, pushed them into the deep pit, and finally covered them with the remaining unburned dead leaves to allow the fertilizer inside to ferment.
While Anji was finishing up, Diancie and the others had also surrounded the stones. With the stones around it, the patch of land finally looked like a flower bed.
"You've all worked so hard, you're all so capable!" Seeing how efficient everyone was, Anjay couldn't help but praise them.
Several Pokémon were both afraid of Anjay, not daring to meet his eyes, and happy because of Anjay's praise, so they couldn't help but steal glances at Anjay.
Among them, Swirlix and Zigzagoon couldn't help but think: Humans aren't as scary as everyone says!
Among these Pokémon, only Swirlix and Zigzagoon were native Nibel Plateau Pokémon. They had never been in contact with humans before, nor had they been harmed by humans. Their fear of humans was merely based on the descriptions of humans by others on the plateau.
Seeing that Swirlix and Zigzagoon looked at him most boldly, Anjay grinned broadly at them, revealing two rows of white teeth.

Seeing Anjay's smile, the two Pokémon immediately turned their heads awkwardly, pretending to be nonchalant.
After the heat in the ground dissipated, Anjay led the Pokémon to dig small pits in the fenced flower garden, and then buried the flower seeds in them.
"Finally, all that's left is watering." Anjay took out a few small buckets from home and said to everyone.
At this moment, Swirlix suddenly flew out.
"Shwoo puff ~ shwoo puff ~ ~"
Anjay looked at Diancie in confusion and asked, "What does Swirlix mean?"
Diancie relayed, "Swirlix says to leave the watering to it."
"Really?" Anjay looked at Swirlix and said, "Can I really leave it to you?"
Swirlix confidently patted its chest with its wings, indicating that it guaranteed there would be no problem. However, when it realized that it was talking to a human, it immediately hid uneasily behind Zigzagoon, only quietly sticking its head out to look at Anjay.
Seeing this, Anjay said to it in a gentle tone, "Okay, then I'll leave it to you."
Swirlix nodded and quickly flapped its wings and flew away.
Anjay looked at Swirlix's back, very curious as to how it would water the flower garden.
After a while, Swirlix flew back, accompanied by another Pokémon. Seeing it, Anjay finally understood why Swirlix said to leave the watering to it.
The Pokémon Swirlix brought was a Castform.
Castform is a Weather Pokémon, and its body form changes with the weather (it turns into Sun, Rain, and Snow-Cloud forms under sunny, rainy, and snowy weather respectively). Don't underestimate its small size, it has the powerful ability to control the weather.
Swirlix seemed to have told Castform about the existence of humans here, so Castform wasn't surprised to see Anjay, but hid behind Swirlix, looking a little timid.
After Swirlix's introduction, Anjay learned that this Castform was Swirlix's good friend, so after learning that there were humans, it still came to help so loyally.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Castform," Anjay said.
Castform nodded and slowly flew out from behind Swirlix. Looking at Anjay's kind smile, like its good friend Swirlix, it felt that humans didn't seem as scary as everyone said.
Like Zigzagoon and Swirlix, Castform was a native Pokémon of the Nibel Plateau, and its knowledge of humans was limited to word-of-mouth among Pokémon.
Castform slowly flew above the flower garden, and then a small cloud of dark clouds condensed above the flower garden, and soon a drizzle began to fall.
The moment it rained, a light flashed on Castform's body, and its form changed from normal form to rain form. At this time, its entire appearance was like a small water droplet with legs.
Castform changed not only its form, but also its attributes. It has now changed from a Normal-type Pokémon to a Water-type Pokémon. Similarly, when it turns into Sun and Snow-Cloud forms, its attributes will also be converted into Fire-type and Ice-type respectively, which is very interesting.
Castform's control over rainy days is very strong, and it can limit the rainfall range to a small flower field without affecting other places at all.
After observing for a few seconds, Anjay asked softly, "Castform, can you control the rain to be a little smaller? Too much rain will cause water to accumulate in the flower garden."
"Poo nyoo ~"
Castform nodded, and soon the rain became even smaller.
Seeing this, Anjay gave Castform a thumbs up and said, "Castform, you are amazing."
Castform blushed a little when he heard this, and two blushes appeared on his cheeks unconsciously.
Soon the watering was over, and Castform was about to run away immediately, but Anjay quickly stopped it.
"Castform, don't go yet, I'll treat you to something to eat."
As soon as it heard there was something to eat, Castform subconsciously stopped in mid-air. It looked at its good friend Swirlix, not knowing whether to go or stay for a moment.
Seeing this, Anjay also said to Litwick and the others, "Everyone, don't leave, I'll treat everyone to something to eat."
"Moo hee ~ moo hee ~ ~"
Hearing this, the flame on Litwick's head swayed, indicating that they couldn't stay. They were here to repay their kindness, how could they stay for dinner? Wouldn't that mean they had worked for nothing for half a day?
The other Pokémon also nodded in agreement, but when they thought of the delicious food they had eaten yesterday, they all subconsciously swallowed.
At this time, Anjay suddenly said in an exaggerated tone, "Oh dear ~ I accidentally prepared too much food today, but there are only Diancie, Stufful, and me at home, so we definitely can't finish it. It would be a waste, and I feel so sad when I think of so much food being thrown away..."
As soon as Anjay said this, the simple-minded Pokémon also became anxious. How could food be wasted!
"Yes, yes, I'm also having a headache," Diancie understood and quickly echoed Anjay, "It would be great if someone could help eat it together. That would really be a great help to Anjay and me."
"Can everyone help me?" Anjay blinked and looked at Litwick and the others.
"Stay, stay," Diancie said, picking up Litwick.
Looking at Anjay and Diancie's expectant eyes, Litwick couldn't help but nod.
"That's great," Diancie said, then she looked at the other Pokémon, "Everyone will stay too, right?"
Litwick had agreed, so the other Pokémon naturally nodded in agreement.
"Then it's settled, let's clean up first, and then come back for dinner," Anjay said loudly.
After Anjay's reminder, the Pokémon looked at me, and I looked at you, and found that everyone had become mud monkeys without knowing when.
"Hahaha ~ ~"
"Yaa cha ~ yaa cha ~ ~"
"Moo hee ~ moo hee ~"
......
For a time, Anjay and the Pokémon burst into laughter. At this moment, the Pokémon seemed to have forgotten their fear of Anjay.
