Lesson 12: Runaway
"It still doesn't look like the humans are coming out."
Gajeta deliberately answered aloud to the words of the young warrior standing next to her.
"Huh! You hipsters! The grownups said what it is, but where do you need to be frightened of such a hipster?!"
From around me, a voice rose agreeing with that gajeta's words.
As Shemr speculated, Gajeta regarded Galam as a coward who could hardly make it through the battle, and assembled some of the youths who supported him to wage war on man arbitrarily.
It is, of course, a grave treason to take everyone and challenge man to fight without the forgiveness of Garam, the chief.
If you do this, you will undoubtedly disqualify the warrior.
Being disqualified from being a warrior is the greatest disgrace in Zoan, which honors a brave warrior. Even if they do not take their lives, they will not be able to withstand the surrounding white-eye vision and will abandon the village themselves not far away. In this challenging environment, no one can live far from the village, which amounts to a de facto death penalty.
But Gajeta thought.
If we drop a village that the adults have never been able to drop without attacking us more than once before, the adults should not be able to punish Gajeta either. No, that's all. You'll put a glance and a second look at yourself for what you've been insulting to young people.
This is a great opportunity to reveal the nose of the adults who have so far said "young people" about themselves in the second word.
"Come on, slap the drum of the assault! Kick the humans and get our village back!
"" Whoa whoa!!
In the mountains, the drums clap louder and louder.
Along with the sound of its drums, about twenty Zoans ran down the slopes of the mountain on four feet at once.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
"Who, beat the drum of the war?!"
Even though the drums of war rang, it was a fuss in hiding.
The warriors jump out of the tent with their weapons in their hands wondering if the humans have attacked them, and the female warriors try to take the old men and children to evacuate further into the back of the mountain. The tent is trampled down by that mess and the children start crying.
Gallum drank into the noise like the one with the hive.
"Quiet, my brothers!!
The Zoans, who were panicked by that loud voice, regain their composure.
"Chieftain, the sound of the drums is not near the den."
That's Zoan, the redhead who stood next to Garam's right. The man who assisted Garguz, the father of Garguz, his predecessor's chief, as his right arm, and supported Garguz's taking over the chief first after his death, his name is Gurkaka.
The sheikh of Zoan, who lives in harsh nature, requires more of his abilities than his lineage. Gurkaka is an unusual man who is spoiled for his current status, even though his bravery and his arms, which have assisted his predecessors, were recognized by many of his compatriots and it was possible for him to become a chief himself if he wanted to, "more suited to his sexuality than a chief to support it".
"Is the sound of drums around the village?"
It was Gajeta's face that immediately floated behind Garam's brain when he thought about a situation where he would beat a drum around a village now dominated by humans. Gallum looks around and makes sure there's no gajeta.
"What happened to Gajeta?!"
"I'm letting you look now"
Glucaca already seemed to think of that possibility.
After a while, a young warrior came to the Gallums, being taken by an adult warrior. Glucaca yelled at a young warrior who was suspicious of behavior if he had anything to do with his heart.
"What's wrong with Gajeta!? If you know anything, don't cover it up and tell the chief!
The young warrior who conceived answered with a crying face.
"Say we take back the village and bring everyone to the village...... I stopped the chief from saying no. Didn't follow that."
"Why did you keep it quiet!? If you keep it quiet, it's the same thing!
To a glucaca angry with his redhead upside down, the young warrior frightens and makes his body smaller.
"Gajeta told me not to tell anyone..."
That's all I heard, Gallum, ran out. To Gurkaka, who hurries to call off Gallam's back, Gallam screams back over his shoulder without stopping his legs.
"Gurkaka! You, Laklaka and Musina, protect the safe house with the women warriors! The humans could attack us!
"What will the chief do?!"
"I'm bringing Gajeta back! Warriors, follow me!
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
Zoan's young warriors, led by Gajeta, run down the mountain with four legs at once.
Originally a people of the plains, Zoan is not good at running mountains and other slopes. Especially when Zoan's run exerts its main power when he runs on four legs. However, I really didn't like running down the slope because my legs were longer than my arms.
But even though he's young, that's Zoan's warrior. Running towards the village in a straight line, skilfully avoiding the cut down trees and their stumps, was like a sudden descent of a raptor who found his prey.
The human soldiers intercepting it released arrows in unison as they squeezed the bow along with the commander's decree.
Dozens of bows and arrows released at the same time cut the wind! Sounds. It's no longer about cutting the wind, it's about pounding through the air.
"Scatter!
To Gajeta's voice, Zoan's warriors jump to the side. Immediately after that, countless arrows make noises and pierce the slopes.
"Yikes!
Two Zoan, with arrows poking at their shoulders and feet, fall down more and more. In front of their companions who tried to help them roll down the slopes with stones and earthen smoke, again under the rain of poured arrows, the two became as if they were specimens of insects fixed with pins.
"All of you, you shitty monster!
Angry Zoan warriors feed their shoulders to body on a wooden fence set on the slopes. The fence of that tree also fell with a shimmering noise as the momentum rushed down the slope hit the body.
"Now! Let go of the arrow!!"
But for Zoan, who knocked down the fence and stopped his leg, a third arrow is released. With that in mind, three more fell. Still, the young warriors dare not to cower, but to plunge in to defeat the next fence.
But once the momentum stopped, the Gajetas just couldn't quite defeat the next fence, or their legs stopped. They were only good.
"Gajeta! Not like this......!
I manage to break the next fence as I cut off the rain of the falling arrows with my buddies with a mountain knife, but that's irresistible too. Even now, one of the warriors who managed to reach the fence shook up a mountain knife in an attempt to slap the pillars of the fence and the rope that pervaded the horizontal trees, falling on his back with arrows all over his body and no screaming.
As he shook off the arrow, Gajeta bit his umbilicus (here).
If we fight properly, these humans are not our enemies! We're not supposed to lose to cowards using bows and arrows from across the fence, not even trying to cross swords!
In reality, however, between Gajeta and the soldier, as many as two fences still stood, and his mountain sword was not long enough to reach the human soldier.
"These cowards! Fight me. Eh!
Gajeta exclaimed, but the human response to it was the rain of arrows.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
"You gajeta idiot!
Shemr raised his voice of anger as one brethren after another were defeated.
I want to rush over there right now, but I can't just leave the blue horse next door in the mountains. Besides, just because you just rushed, doesn't mean you're gonna make it, and you can't do anything about it.
If there was a gajeta on this spot, I'd punch him on the side of it, grab his chest and freshly tow him in front of the chief, and I'd be able to handle it with anger and remorse.
Next to such a shemur, the Ethereal Horse made the unilaterally slaughtered Zoans look up.
"Why are you doing such reckless things..."
"Not at all! Without knowing our immaturity, we will wage war on our own!!"
Shemr agreed with the blubbering of the Ethereal Horse that he was indignant.
But the Ethereal Horse was uncomfortable with Shemr's words.
Between myself and Shemr something feels like a deadly slack.
"Damn! Another compatriot...!
Shemr looks at the battle of his compatriots as he eats in a way that he doesn't realize that.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
Rushing Garam and the warriors lost their words to the worst of what they had expected. On the slopes that cut through the mountains beneath your eyes, a number of young warriors' bodies rolled over and only a few survived.
Still, the young warriors are trying to break down the fence, but the appearance just seemed reckless to the Gallums.
"Ring the drum of retreat!
Instructed by Garam, the drum beating rushes to beat the drum of retreat.
Keep going, keep going! Keep going, keep going!
One of the young warriors looks back when he realizes the sound of that drum.
"Gajeta! The Chiefs are here!
Ignoring his comrades, who raise their voices to joy, Gajeta tries to come forward unwavering.
"Gajeta, Gajeta! It's a retreat drum!
Already the young warriors' hips were retreating. They also knew that instead of knocking down the fence as it was, they would wipe themselves out before that. But Gajeta never told him to retreat, so he couldn't retreat. The drum of retreat that arrived at that time was equal to the gospel for them.
But Gajeta shook off the gaze of her obsessive companion and shouted.
"I don't know if I can get out of here! Don't give up! Down with the fence! Kill the humans!!"
Gajeta was no longer much different than a selfish child.
If you retreat here, what awaits Gajeta is the disqualification of the warrior. On the contrary, if you make all this sacrifice, you're either cut off your hands and banished, or you're left on the plains tied up to feed the wolves.
For Gajeta, who has dreamed of becoming the strongest warrior in the Fang Clan, that was never acceptable.
"Those idiots! Are you going to wipe it out?!"
The adult warriors threw up with anger, even though there was no way the young warriors would retreat at all.
Gallum agreed. If you want to die so badly, die on your own! I'd say, but I'm a chief now. Even these fools can't abandon their compatriots.
"Keep beating the drum of retreat! The rest of the warriors go on with me! I'll bring those idiots back!
The adult warriors ran down the slopes with four legs ahead of the gallam.
"Raise your voice!
The warriors raised their voices together. In a roar that rocked the mountains, the human soldiers who noticed Zoan's addition began to rain arrows on the Gallums as well.
"You guys, keep your eyes on the humans!
That being the case, Gallum runs down alone. A soldier noticing that gallam turns the bow and arrow, but no arrow reaches the gallam running down the slope of bad scaffolding shaking his body to the left and right in clever steps.
Garam, who reached the young warriors, yelled at them.
"These idiots! Back off, back off!
To the chief's own order, everyone except Gajeta begins to withdraw. Gajeta tries to retain his people, but no longer did anyone try to listen to him.
"If you want to die, die on your own! Stay out of this!
To Gajeta, who still does not intend to retreat, Gallam, when he coldly discards, serves himself as the hall of the retreating young warriors, cutting off the arrows and descending into the mountains. One leftover gajeta, too, gave one growl at remorse, finally retreated.
What the human side lost in this battle was one arrow and one fence. But most arrows were recovered after the Zoans retracted, and the fence finished repairing before sundown, virtually nothing lost.
In contrast, the Zoans lost a number of young warriors in charge of tomorrow's clan, and it took more than a decade to make up for that hole.
No longer in anyone's eyes, it is Zoan's great defeat.
Zoan, who leaves many casualties and retreats to the lair, distorts his face to humiliation by the human soldiers who hear him from behind.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
"All, all..."
In the same way as the retreating compatriots, Shemr was shaking his whole body in humiliation at the human sheng hui.
Shemr is a warrior. Both myself and my compatriots are prepared to fight and be killed. I'm not willing to resent them for that.
But what is happening over there now is not the treatment of the corpse of a warrior who bravely fought and died.
Ahead she stared, as if bragging about the prey she had shot at in the hunt, there was a figure of human soldiers listing the bodies of Zoan left over high. He takes the arm of a hoisted Zoan's body, moves it like a puppet, and laughs at its funny. Inside, it's not enough to just kick a corpse in the foot, even the one who catches a piss.
"You monsters who shit in hell! You monsters!
What can I say to the same human being, the Ethereal Horse? All I could do was shut up and look at Shemr's shoulder, trembling with anger and sadness.
"I'm sorry," Shemr said briefly to the Ethereal Horse, who had finally contained his enthusiasm for how much time had passed.
"Are we, Zoan, no longer only beasts to the extent that wisdom turns around"
I thought Shemr was right. Even from the Ethereal Horse, the way they treat Zoan's body just seems to be dealing with prey that they shot in the hunt.
Shemr looked him straight in the eye and said, turning back to the pale horse.
"It's Soma. I owe you a great deal and vowed to return it. But I am a warrior of the Fang Clan. You can't turn your back on your countrymen trying to fight with total strength. I might lose this life without fulfilling my vows to you. Then you can resent me for being impudent."
Besides, the Ethereal Horse couldn't possibly not be upset. If we lose Shemr's asylum in a world where we still don't know the right or the left, how do we live from now on?
However, I also understand the situation in which Shemr was placed, but I can't take it unnecessarily here, squeezing and smiling.
"I can't resent you for all you've done for me."
…… Sorry. "
Shemr is also forced to make a smile and a bright voice to say.
"What, I didn't decide to lose. This time some of the men have gone ahead, but next all the warriors of the clan will fight together. The strongest warrior, The Flashing Fang, would easily break a fence like that!
In that Shemr word, the Ethereal Horse said, "Is that it?" I thought.
I felt it earlier, but I feel uneven with myself about the way Shemr thinks.
My chest squeezes.
Oh, my God, something's wrong.
"Shemr, could..."
That's what I said, the Ethereal Horse kept saying.
Fulfill, is this a good thing to say? To a pale horse who still didn't know much about this world, I couldn't tell if that was a good thing to say.
Besides, if you say this, it will involve a human battle with Zoan in this world.
For Ethereal Horse, a child of modern Japan, war and murder are only those of the world of fiction. I felt a tremendous sense of rejection of being directly involved in such a thing.
"What's up, Soma?
So the Ethereal Horse had to answer Shemr's question, "Nothing".
