Lesson 18 Ransom

"Can't I get a ransom?

The Ethereal Horse, who was having lunch with Shemr and Garam and the three of us, largely said so.

It is the corner of the courtyard, which is close to the Lord's office.

Many people frowned that in such a place, even if the city's lord, the Ethereal Horse, was like a barbarian to eat.

However, it was customary for Aoima to go out to the courtyard and dine with the two of them if the weather permits, because it was more comfortable to eat in the sun than in a dim and jittery indoor where Shemr did not like the place surrounded by walls and Aoima also did not ensure comfortable breathability and lighting like a modern Japanese home.

Today, Galam, who happens to be there, gave it to your companion.

"Whose ransom the hell is that?

With that said, Shemr stabbed the pork skinned meat on the skewer and offered the pale horse something broiled (blubbered) with fire.

When the Ethereal Horse receives it, he sips first. The carefully broiled skin is parched, and when it is chewed up, the fat of the trout comes from beneath it. It spread to the mouth with an indescribable flavour along with the flavour of rock salt and spices that were sprinkled.

"Yeah, yummy. - Look, you're catching the man from the previous lord. That guy's ransom."

That being said, I couldn't remember Shemr. He only leans his neck, twisting his portion of flesh.

To such a sister Garam sent out a helpship.

"About that fat rabbit."

"Oh. That's him!

With Vritas Sadma Holmeanis, the king's younger brother, the former lord of this city, Shemru also faced each other only once, together with the Ethereal Horse, but was completely oblivious. At the same time he remembers, Shemr frowns.

"But in Marcronis's story, wasn't it impossible to negotiate using him?

"Yeah, but then things changed."

Prior to this, there was nothing to negotiate or do with the Holmeer State, which seeks to crusade the Ethereal Horses by pointing its army at them. However, the Holmeer Nation has not yet healed the pain of the "Bornis Showdown", nor has it set its sights (rarely) on sending its next crusader. Depending on this request, there will be room for negotiation.

Exactly, I wouldn't be able to make the conditions for telling you to recognize the independence and autonomy of the city, but I feel like it would be as good as asking for ransom. Plus, I just wanted to make some money because I've been gasping for money from a buying beating by Jeboa's Merchant Guild until recently.

"I don't think I deserve that much for a guy like that, but isn't that good too?

Garam agreed very naturally, as even Zoan sometimes asks his opponents to make concessions on the terms of freeing the chiefs captured in the war between the clans.

The pale horse, also endorsed by Gallam, is relieved, and when he puts a slice of the last remaining meat in his mouth, he chews it well and then drinks it down with gokuri.

"Thank you very much."

When the Ethereal Horse says so with his hands together, Shemr goes along with it.

"Gothiso samadesita"

Asked Gallam, confused by the two unfamiliar tricks, the Ethereal Horse.

"Vritas, how are you now?

Vritas' personality, which he caught because of but could not be used to negotiate, nor could he be freed in vain, was kept in the gallum after pressing for no disrespect.

But Gallum said something unexpected.

"I keep it with Lord Eladia. - We don't know how to handle human royalty. She told me that if I treated her badly, I would be in trouble later."

If you ask me, the Ethereal Horse thought so too. But Eladia, who suffered as a sex slave, leans her neck when she says she bought out looking after Vritas, who used the same elf as a sex slave.

"I don't think Mr. Eladia would do anything weird. Anyway, I need to know what's going on."

Then, Shemr lifted his hips.

"Then I'll get some hot water from the kitchen, and then I'll get him."

People stood still in front of Shemr, who, as usual, pointed his foot in the kitchen to prepare tea after meals.

"I brought you hot water. Please, use this."

It is eladia with a small pot that stands up hot air.

The other day, since being entrusted to the chief woman, Eladia had thus come to help Shemr burn the care of the Ethereal Horse. That said, it's not like I'm going to get my mouth or my hands on it anyway. However, if you need something for a pale horse as you do now, just prepare it in advance and gently give it to Shemr.

As for that, I also thought Shemr would be of great help.

But at the same time, Shemr's vigilance somehow wandered.

"... on purpose, I'm sorry. It helps."

But you can't refuse to think it was from good intentions, and Shemr received the pot. When Shemru places the pan in a small furnace made of stone, once the water is re-boiled, he takes the dried leaves out of the bag hung on his hips (stuffed) and boils the tea out.

Meanwhile, he felt signs of being watched for his hand all the time, and Shemr looked up. Then I get eyes on Eladia.

"... what's wrong with the tea?

"No. I mean Zoan style tea, because the aroma and colour are a lot different from the tea we know, and it's very rare"

As Eladia rarely does, when it comes to tea in this world, it usually refers to hot water with aromas and flavors such as dried flowers and spices.

"I think I like this tea. It tastes like oolong tea and refreshes your mouth after eating meat."

Said the Ethereal Horse as he received a cup of tea from Shemr.

Say how much greasy meat dishes taste. All you grew up boys, Ethereal Horses, would have made an early noise for Zoan's meal, which is full of meat dishes without this tea.

"Master Soma likes that tea."

To casual Eladia's words, Shemr makes him feel crisis.

"Hmm. Soma likes my tea."

"Yeah, I see."

Shemr boasts that he likes his tea pale horses with a gentle smile on his chest for some reason and Eladia responds to it.

Somehow, even though there were signs of tingling coming from between the two, Aoima looked at the gallam as she inquired. Gallum then glances (besties) at his sister, who reverses her neck hair, and then leaks one sigh.

"Never mind. - I'm just wary that Bobcats won't take their territory."

Then Shemr, who heard it, stares at it.

"It's Raging Fangs. Who the hell is Bobcat talking about?

Suddenly the spearhead from Eladia to himself, Gallum blurs in the sky and changes the subject.

"Come on, man. - More than that, Lord Eladia. He said he wanted to ask you something."

He was a pale horse who grinned bitterly at Shemr, who shouted his teeth out in remorse and roared, but he rode it because he wanted to make sure Eladia was right about Vritas.

"Mr. Eladia. If you are a former lord of this city, how are you?

Even so, Eladia, who could not immediately remember who she was talking about, puts her finger on every one of them and thinks. You remembered after a while, pounding your hand small.

"Oh. Is that Guess..."

From Eladia's lips, a small grunt leaks.

The Ethereal Horses gave the tone of their cold contempt, which also froze their spines. I doubt my ears would have misheard the difference between the gentle smile she floats.

"I have him, Your Highness. If it was Vritas, I will take care of him without disrespect in one of the official rooms."

Then Eladia answered with a smile, as if the words had been lies.

Don't touch it.

The Ethereal Horses swore so firmly.

"And anyway. Can I see Vritas?

"Of course it is, Master Soma. - Even now, thank you?

Yes, the Ethereal Horse who responded to Eladia asks for a quick guide to Vritas.

Vritas was imprisoned in one of the rooms in the Lords' residence. Every few other imprisoned noble children are pushed into the empty servant's clutter room, while Vritas, the king's brother, still seems to be treated specially. They also make sense to suppress the dissatisfaction of the noble offspring by doing so.

"Even if your children complain about making it a private room, not a cluttered room, they say, 'Would you like to be treated in the same line as your brother Wang?' If you ask, shut up, for the most part, 'is what Eladia says.

No matter how dark and foolish and ridiculous Vritas is, it doesn't translate into being the King's brother. That's exactly what I'm saying. I can't even tell my children to treat me like that.

Two elf women with bows and arrows stood beside each other at the entrance to the room where Vritas was located. When they notice the Ethereal Horses, they place a bow at their feet. Then, attach your right hand to your abdomen and bow with your hips bent so that it fulfils there.

As he passed between them and stepped into the room following Eladia, he heard a "hiccup" drawn from the top of the sleeping table placed in the back.

When I look at you, Vritas, still wearing a light sleeping roll, whether he was even napping, is rattling and shivering on the bedside.

Vritas, whom I haven't seen in months, seems a lot more spiritual. As usual, he was fat enough but seemed slightly cheeky.

For such a vritus, Eladia gives a bowl of grace in a flowing motion.

"His Highness Vritas. - My Lord Soma Kisaki is here for you."

As Eladia indicated to step forward with her hand, the Ethereal Horse walks out with Shemr. Then, when he saw the pale horse, Vritas dyed his unhealthy face red in anger and jumped off the sleeping table.

"It's you! Because of you, I...!

Vritas spat and cursed, trying to pack it up to the Ethereal Horse.

Soon Shemr tries to stand in front of the Ethereal Horse to shield himself from it, but sooner than that, Vritas stops with his eyes wide open. That's all or as I saw it, I blued my face and began to tremble into little pieces.

A pale horse wondering what the hell was going on, but apparently Vritas' eyes weren't on himself, they were pointed behind him.

Looking back at what was there, it was Eladia who had a gentle smile.

"What have you done, Master Soma?

On the contrary, he asks strangely, and the pale horse looks like a fox pinching his nose. I didn't mean to, but now the Ethereal Horse gave priority to what should be done anyway.

"It's definitely His Royal Highness Vritas Sadma Holmeanis, the king's brother, isn't it?

"Oh! I'm Vritas Sadma Holmeanis! You're a lousy girl..."

At first the momentum was like eating and hanging on a pale horse, but again in the middle of the word the momentum stalls, and Vritas mumbles. And those eyes were still pointed behind me.

But looking back, there's just Eladia putting her hand on her right cheek making her face in trouble.

Don't touch it, don't touch it.

Once again, the Ethereal Horse, thinking so strongly, forces his consciousness to turn to Vritas.

"Today, I've got a favor for you"

Ever since he was alert to Eladia, Vritas responded nothing to the words of the Ethereal Horse. Somehow the Ethereal Horse says:

"I'm going to demand your ransom from the Holmeer Nation."

"You think it's ransom?

Exactly when Vritas, surprised to hear it was his ransom, asked him back, the Ethereal Horse nodded one before continuing his words.

"If the ransom is paid, we will free you immediately"

"Ho, is that true?!"

On Vritas' face, a puff of joy floats.

"Yes. - To that end, I was going to ask you to write a letter to the Holmeer Country"

"Ooh! Let's write! Let's write!

Vritas agreed to write without a word or two.

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

"Dear Soma. How about an intermediary?

Safe, an Ethereal Horse who promised to have Vritas write to him called out on his back as he walked down the aisle trying to get back to the office.

"An intermediary?

"Yes, it would have been nice to send a negotiating envoy along with a letter, but there is a fear that they will not be dealt with in our envoy"

In the Holmeer country, the pale horses are still positioned as slaves who revolted. Then I fear that if you just don't get the letter, or if you do poorly, they will even decide that you didn't unilaterally put the negotiations together because of it.

In order not to do so, Eladia says, the Holmeer State also needs to act as an intermediary for those with status and connections that it can hardly possibly do.

"So should I ask the city's celebrities and merchants?

Then Eladia turned into a slightly troubled face.

"It seems that no one in this city can ask for an intermediary."

As we govern the city, we often invite the city's leading men to our official residences. And it is Eladia's role as chief woman who receives that entertainment. For that reason, she had already looked into the city's leading men, but none of them were connected to the Royal Palace of the Holmeer Nation.

"So what am I supposed to do?

Eladia, who had already anticipated the question, answers without hesitation.

"You may know someone who can do that, even if you can't mediate. Why don't you call me to the official residence and ask me to introduce you?

If that's what you're thinking, the case was a pale horse who tried to leave it to Eladia, but when I said it, she smiled bitterly at its beautiful face.

"This is in the service of Master Soma"

The Ethereal Horse didn't think, "Me?" I inquire.

"Unfortunately, we are still seen as slaves. After all, Master Soma will have to negotiate for himself."

I knew why, but I was a pale horse who couldn't snort right away.

Anyway, Aoima is a typical Japanese who is not comfortable negotiating. Since falling into this world, I've had the opportunity to take the negotiating table several times, but it's all been driven by the situation and inevitably on top of it.

Not to mention this time, when the celebrities and merchants whose mouths are about to stand think of each other, anxiety really stands first.

"The first step is to gain experience, Master Soma"

And Eladiah spake unto the stray horse.

"This time, I'm just asking for an introduction to the intermediary. You don't have to be so hard. And I'm here to help you."

A pale horse whose anxiety can't hang up when he says so sees Shemr over his shoulder walking about behind him as he seeks salvation. Then, realizing the gaze of the Ethereal Horse, Shemr slapped one on his chest to show it.

"Weren't you able to negotiate properly with a slave trader? If it's soma, it's okay."

The Ethereal Horse accidentally laughed bitterly at Shemr's mouth as if he were proud of his accomplishments.

When I once bought Dvarin from a slaver in this city, it was just a price cut, but still, when Shemr tells me that, I feel somewhat okay.

"Okay. I'm not good at negotiating or anything, so tell me a lot."

"I understand, Master Soma."

Eladia smiled and agreed.

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

Then a few days later, a merchant with the name Lazarev was invited to the Lords' residence.

This Lazarev is a merchant who deals in goods bought from Jeboa dealers in this city. Merchants competing for one or two in the city of Bornis today, but that's also because many big merchants escaped when the Ethereal Horse dropped the city, and before that, he was only a middle-sized merchant at best.

For that reason, Razalev himself is more of a merchant than a merchant of the doer, just a man who honestly said he was a good merchant of those who continue to do business.

But that was convenient for Eladia, who was entrusted with the candidacy.

Over the past few days, the Ethereal Horse has been taught the basis for negotiations, but still cannot be overburdened. Or, I have trouble with someone who can't introduce me to a key intermediary.

In that regard, Lazarev is also connected to Jeboa's dealers, and he is not the kind of person who would say he would benefit from falling into a pale horse. He was the one who hit him and followed him.

Not knowing that he had been invited from such thoughts, Razalev came to the Lords' residence, in keeping with the carving limits as promised.

It was the beautiful elf ladies who welcomed it first.

Lazarev, who was just a lord's residence in a regional city and never thought to see so many elf women, is suddenly overwhelmed by the sight.

It could also have had something to do with the temper of the elf ladies. For them at all costs, it is the first customer service entrusted to the female officer of the Ethereal Horse. I can't help but force myself into it.

"Dear Lazarev. Please, come here."

It was during the sight that Lazarev was passed through in the guidance of Eladia, who had only one calm atmosphere. Both doors are opened, and Lazarev is surprised to enter between the sights.

"Welcome, there you are"

It was not near the chair of the lord, which had been set in the deepest part between the sights, but on the other side of the large desk, which had been prepared in the center of the room, that the pale horse that welcomed Razarev stood.

Besides, Razalev was relieved to assume that the Ethereal Horse was not trying to impose anything, but was seeking dialogue.

"Come on, have a seat first"

Nodded by the Ethereal Horse, Lazarev sits in a chair. When he sees it and then the Ethereal Horse also sits in a chair, Shemr stands in an upright immovable position with a torso armor braided with a twist behind him.

That was more to prevent the Ethereal Horse from being underestimated by his opponent than to say for protection. No matter how many different races we follow, there is no denying that the Ethereal Horse lacks (and does) such things as majesty and temper in itself. So I say we make up for the majesty by letting Shemr of Zoan, who is still feared to be ferocious by people in the city, stand behind us.

Most importantly, it didn't seem necessary this time either. The notoriety of the Ethereal Horse, once burned, still seems to be alive, even if several months have passed since the city was ruled, during which time there has been a track record of efforts to maintain security and comfort (a lot) the city's inhabitants.

Even though he said he was just sitting face to face, Lazarev seemed to be stuffed with handkerchiefs with cold sweat gushing from earlier.

The opponent could afford this, even as a pale horse.

As Eladia mentored me, I get greetings from the time of Lazarev and then chat about recent events in the city and more. In doing so, the Ethereal Horse was also able to move her mouth into a slippery (nagging) position.

Eladia, who was standing behind Lazarev in the name of anticipating such a pale horse and serving, sends a signal to proceed with the conversation.

"Mr. Lazarev. Today, I wanted to talk to you, and I invited you. - Actually..."

The pale horse who received the signal finally cut out the story as to whether he could ask for mediation with the Holmeer country. Lazarev gives a bewildered look to the content of the story, in which he asks if he can ask for an intermediary to ransom Vritas.

"I just run a small business in this city, brokering with the royal palace, etc., very, very..."

As Eladia looked into it, it was still an impossible story for Lazarev. So the Ethereal Horse, as planned, takes the story with him to see if he knows anyone who might be able to ask for an intermediary.

Then Lazarev let his face shine.

"Oh yeah! There are just the right people."

If Lazarev hadn't noticed, he would have had to invite someone else, and so would the Ethereal Horse.

"Who the hell is that?

Razarev said slightly diving his voice against the Ethereal Horse, who makes his voice play without knowing that this would clear up the trouble.

"Actually, a guest from Jeboa has been staying at my mansion for about a month now. The house is an extravaganza in Jeboa, and I'm sure there will be twists and turns to the Holmeer Royal Palace"

Eladia, who was listening to it with a strange face behind her, faintly narrowed her eyes.

Not only myself, but also the elf ladies are being made to listen to the rumors of the city and gather information, but such stories are the first to say that such a big man is staying. Again, Eladia thought we had to gather information in a hurry before we could invite the person to the official residence.

But a story popped out of Lazarev's mouth suspicious of Eladia's ears, who had such plans.

"Actually, you're still here with me today."

Indeed, Lazarev has brought some of his entourage. But no one was introduced to him by Lazarev when he guided him here, so he kept them all in between as just an accompanying dwarf.

"Are you here already?

To the astonishing Ethereal Horse, Razarev nodded.

"Yes, I was hoping to see your lord."

So Lazarev thought he could blame him for keeping it quiet, and he hurriedly uttered an excuse.

"This is a personal request. Rude to push all of a sudden, even though you have no face or promise whatsoever. If you get a chance to introduce yourself in the course of the story, fine. I didn't dare to introduce you, because you said you could waste your legs."

Eladia, I think you're such an idiot.

A merchant, also known as a luxury merchant, cannot come for such vague reasons. There must have been some certainty that I would see the Ethereal Horse.

To Razalev's story, Eladia switches her mind from suspicion to clear vigilance.

At first, in meeting with Razarev, the important thing to note in negotiating with the merchant is teaching the pale horse. But with such a burning blade, Lazarev doesn't mind suddenly dealing with the great merchants of Haiqian Mountain Thousand.

To be honest, I just want to change the day in order to find out more about the person and buy some time to work out what to do about it. But it would be rude to ask for an introduction here and drive the day back again while the right person is right there for it.

Eladia, gazed at by a pale horse wondering how to respond, had to nod and show.

"Okay. I'd love to introduce you to him."

"Oh! Thank you"

Lazarev, who was anxious for the complexion of the Ethereal Horse, was also horrified.

A while later, an elf woman led me into the room with a young man with good, burnt brown skin on the day.

What you are wearing is a loose cylindrical piece with a wide removed hem and cuffs. And a white cloth like a white Kafiya (a cloth wrapped around the head by Arabs) wrapped around his head. They were as if they were Arabic merchants that the Ethereal Horse could think of.

And it was that hair that caught the eye of the pale horse in particular. He says he's a man, but he's flooded with flax hair stretched out enough to reach his hips from under a cloth wrapped around his head.

The young man who saw the Ethereal Horse raised an exclamation as he spread his arms over Daigo.

"Yo-ho!"

During the sight, the voice of a good passing youth echoed.

"Hey, nice to meet you. I am Menahem Shapiro, one of the ten members of the Jeboa Merchant Guild"

Eladia as well as the Ethereal Horse were also surprised by the young man's name.

Because Jeboa's Merchant Guild has already been created, we are looking into the luxury merchants known as the Ten-Member Commissioners who are moving the Guild. And as one of those ten members, there was definitely Menahem Shapiro's name.

This turned toward the warring Ethereal Horses, whose eyes narrowed like yarn and grinned.

"- My name is Joash, son of I need you to know me."
