Harry Potter and the Candy Factory
#146 - Kobe Supervisor
"They are imps from hell. If I remember correctly, they should be called... Dobby!"
Finally, after listening to the various opinions of his companions, Dursley, who had seen the "world," spoke.
He stroked the thick mustache below his nose, a hint of smugness flashing in his eyes as he spoke. He seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the pleasure of enlightening others with a single word.
As for whether that word was actually correct... that was not a problem he needed to consider.
Sure enough, as soon as these words came out, the Muggles immediately turned their heads, their faces full of surprise as they refocused their gazes on Dursley.
"You even know that?!"
The person who exclaimed in surprise was Andrew, the man who had struck up a conversation with Dursley when he first entered the Leaky Cauldron.
The reactions of the others were also different, their gazes directed at this bloated man, some with surprise, some with admiration, some with doubt...
"Of course!"
Facing the attention of the crowd once again, the smugness in Dursley's eyes grew even stronger. He even straightened his back slightly, sticking out his belly with an air of self-importance.
"I'm not like you. I'm not seeing this kind of creature for the first time. Sigh, you probably wouldn't believe it, but when I was at home, my nephew, Potter, once successfully summoned them to help him fulfill his terrible and evil wishes."
To be honest, Dursley was already feeling quite pleased with himself... gradually losing himself in the praise and beginning to enjoy the feeling.
Even when he was a company supervisor in the ordinary world, he had never received this kind of treatment.
Everyone has their own desires, and as a typical British white male, Dursley undoubtedly craved this feeling of being admired and surrounded by people. Unexpectedly, this wish was now being realized in the wizarding world...
Because they were the first batch of Muggles to be recruited, and they didn't join at the same time as the Squibs, this also led to the fact that among the entire group, you couldn't even find someone who truly understood the wizarding world.
Therefore, Dursley, as the tallest dwarf among the short people, successfully assumed the position of "Wizard Expert" by chance.
"It's unbelievable that Mr. Charlie Black's factory is actually run by imps from hell... Could it be that he actually has demonic blood? If word gets out, those Catholics would probably go crazy."
"That's normal. Haven't you heard the saying that all capitalists are devils?"
"So, what are we going to do next? Will the giant hand us over to this little guy?"
… … … … … … … … … … … …
Amidst the rising and falling discussions of the Muggles, Hagrid and Kobe also completed the handover of the task.
After Hagrid left, Kobe turned his gaze and refocused his attention on them.
His eyelids couldn't help but twitch. Although he had been busy and hadn't paid attention to the situation behind him, in reality, the Muggles' deliberately lowered voices were no different to the house-elf's large ears than speaking directly in front of him.
Kobe naturally heard everything they said clearly.
However, he still didn't say anything, because he also understood that Muggles were different from wizards.
If a wizard said such a thing, he would definitely raise his hand and give the other person a lesson without hesitation, because he knew that the wizard was insulting him.
However, Muggles could not be treated the same way. Although they looked very similar, they didn't seem to be very smart compared to wizards, and they really knew very little about house-elves.
And this was precisely the purpose of Kobe's upcoming teaching.
Before the ugly culture of the wizards could influence them, he would first instill the concept that house-elves were not slaves.
Perhaps for the entire wizarding world, these dozens of Muggles, or even the hundreds who would continue to arrive at the factory in the future, would not make much of a splash. But don't forget, these Muggles also had families. They might be a wizard's father, or a wizard's husband...
Although it wouldn't have much of an effect now, when the gap between the Muggle and wizarding worlds became smaller and smaller in the future, and more and more people like them poured into it, then this pre-emptive move would eventually play its due role.
Whenever this thought occurred to him, Kobe couldn't help but tremble with excitement. Then, he silently praised Mr. Charlie Black's wisdom once again in his heart.
"Come on, friends, quiet down for a moment."
Finally, after taking a deep breath, Kobe began his formal contact with these Muggles.
As his voice spread, people's gazes began to gradually converge on this three-headed magical creature. The originally noisy voices gradually subsided, waiting to listen to his next speech.
"My name is Kobe. I am the head of the production department at the Charlie Candy Factory, and your future boss."
After finishing his self-introduction, Kobe paused for half a second, then looked around, taking in everyone's reactions. Seeing that there were no "troublemakers" that he had originally expected, Kobe couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief in his heart, nodded, and continued.
"Of course, I'm talking about 'future', not now. Because, to be honest, you can't be considered Mr. Charlie Black's subordinates or members of the candy factory yet..."
As soon as these words came out, a small uproar broke out again in the originally quiet crowd.
"Um, Supervisor Kobe."
After a moment, a person raised his hand and slowly moved out of the crowd.
"Is there a problem?"
Kobe nodded, obviously very satisfied with the other party's attitude and title.
The man looked a little nervous. He swallowed his saliva and then hesitantly asked.
"Before we came... that somewhat fat giant told us that we wouldn't need an interview or anything like that and could be directly hired, right?"
"Of course!" Kobe smiled, nodded, and said frankly.
"Indeed, there is no need for an interview..." He said, just as everyone was about to relax, the conversation suddenly took a turn.
"But we have onboarding training, which lasts about a week. During this week, we will teach you some of the most basic things, including how to use the machines, understanding the factory, recognizing the house-elves, and so on..."
Kobe paused again.
"At the end of the training, we will organize an exam. If you don't pass the exam, then unfortunately, although we won't let you go back, you will need to rejoin the next batch of employees for another training session until you pass."
After speaking, he suddenly thought of something and quickly added.
"Oh, right, training is not considered work. That is, we will not pay you wages for that week."
