"So, which house do you think you will get sorted to?" she asked cheerfully, trying to change the previous sad topic.

That got me thinking and I started to go over all 4 houses in my head.

Gryffindor is out since I am not dumb or reckless enough and it will be too close to main characters (and dangerous) for my liking. There is also an issue of privacy, which I won't get any in a house full of nosy people.

Slytherin is out too for obvious reasons. Even if I could handle a house full of back-stabbing bigots, it has a reputation of being evil and it won't do to alienate other 3 house. Additionally, in the future when I will reveal my strength, risk of being seen as Dark lord will be too high by the rest of wizarding sheep.

Hufflepuff is also a no-go. Everyone sees Hufflepuff as a house of leftovers and it won't do to be seen as a pushover. Also, the only person I am currently loyal to is myself, so low chances of the hat to sort me in this house. Additionally like Gryffindor, lack of privacy will be a major issue.

Now, Ravenclaw is something I can work with. To start with, everyone gets individual rooms and since everyone minds their own business, Privacy won't be an issue. I can attribute my extra knowledge to being a Ravenclaw (read nerd).

"Ravenclaw, I think. I always liked to read." I replied looking unsure.

"Well, too bad you won't be in Hufflepuff with me, you would have liked it among puffs." she replied cheerfully.

We chatted idly for a while and went back to minding our own business. She took out a book and started to read and I went back to focus on my occlumancy.

When the train stopped, I heard the booming voice of Hagrid, calling first-year students to boats. I shared a boat with three other students while we crossed the black lake. Hogwarts castle looked majestic and ambient magic amount just shot through the roof. Hagrid guided us to the entrance where Prof. McGonagall was waiting. She gave the same speech as in books about houses being families and points and whatnot which I ignored (house points. A joke in presence of prof. Sevvy snape).

She guided us inside until we reached the gates of the main hall and left us there. Some of the idiotic students (future Gryffindors, I am looking at you) started to come up with one after other idiotic theories about the sorting process. She came after a few minutes and took us inside. In front of was now an old and dirty sorting hat placed on a stool on the podium. Sorting Hat started singing a ridiculous song which I tuned out.

She then went up to the podium and started calling out student names for sorting. Soon came my turn.
