11: The Ancestral Mother

My grandparents have arrived.

I am generally cautious when dealing with others, but I am particularly wary of my grandparents.

That’s because they are warriors who have survived for over fifty years in this harsh world.

It’s unbelievable. In my million lives, I have never lived for what the world calls “fifty years,” regardless of what kind of creature I may be.

In such cases, the “lap” refers to the “thigh!”

Inviting me to the lap of my grandmother, who has bad knees—this is an act of exposing and offering a weakness. Yes, that’s what it seems like at first glance. But in reality, my grandmother is not exposing her knees at all. Allowing me to be free is the “thigh” that can be called “lap” without any discomfort!

In other words, she loses nothing.

Yet, by inviting me close, she is trying to gain an entirely unknown “benefit.”

What cunningness! It makes me shudder. She wears such a harmless smile, but her words and actions are filled with calculations from start to finish.

My grandmother effortlessly achieves “losing nothing and gaining something.”

Moreover, my mom urges me, “Come on, Rex.”

With this, the choice of “leaving quietly” is practically sealed. I have no choice but to head towards my grandmother’s lap… or rather, the “thigh” called “lap”!

There is no way to resist.
