“Did Duke Hope have any intention of calling a therapist?”

A therapist was a mana practitioner who focused on healing.

It was because the wizard families had connections with the therapist families that they were able to get their help without difficulty.

“I don’t know about that. I am a maid who’s hired to work only in the separate house, and I don’t have opportunities to meet the owner of the main house or the servants there.”

Anne replied flatly, she couldn’t possibly know such things.

“But there’s someone that works in the separate house who reports the news to Duke Hope about Young Master.”

Anne’s eyes widened. It was quite a big reaction from her, who was always listless doing anything.

It was publicly known by the servants of the separate house that Bliss had a watchman. It was an open secret, but Anne was a little surprised to know that Shana, who seemed to be oblivious about the situation, also knew about it.

‘As expected.’

Shana was convinced when she saw Anne’s reaction. She had already guessed from the day she met the duke during Bliss’ and her first outing to the gardens.

“Please tell that person to give the duke a more detailed report on the Young Master’s condition sincerely.”

Shana put on a firm look on her face.

“The third son of the Hope Family has been ill for a week, and no action have been taken?”

“We’ll do our best…….”

“Don’t lie through your teeth.”

She interrupted Anne and carried on. It wasn’t an angry voice.

“Even adults can’t do anything if they’re sick, but Young Master is twelve years old. He’ll get better if you care just a little more about him.”

Shana spoke calmly with a pleading voice.

Anne was speechless.

‘I don’t feel like working because I’m assigned to such a shabby separate house anyway.’

She was taken aback when Shana tried to command her, as if she was the lady of the separate house.

Shana was clearly an outsider. She would leave one day, moreover, she was just a commoner wizard; not a noblewoman.

Anne, on the other hand, was the daughter of a baron, although her status was ruined.

If Shana had high status, she would have worked hard to impress her, but she didn’t feel the need to please Shana; a lowly commoner.

“I will keep that in mind, Guide.”

Anne replied in a colder voice than usual.

“However, Guide is not the owner of this house, you are here to guide the Young Master. Our roles are clear here, so I hope we don’t intrude on each other.”

Shana smirked for a moment. You want us to avoid each other?

Though it seemed like Anne spoke politely, it was plain to see that she meant to say; know your place and just quietly do your job.

Shana had felt desperately insignificant in her status and position since she met the duke.

‘But this is not right.’

She wondered would it have been so unpleasant to ask Anne to pay more attention to the child because he was sick and suffering alone, if she had a higher status?

Shana tilted her head, holding back her rising anger.

“Did I seem too presumptuous as a commoner and a humble guide?”

Anne’s eyebrows twitched. Shana was right to say that, but she was embarrassed because she didn’t know Shana would point it out.

“However, Anne, even if I have, I can’t just ignore the Young Master.”

“What do you mean by ignore, I have done no such thing.”

Shana snorted at Anne’s denial.

“Even though you haven’t done anything for a sick boy for a week?”

“……”

“Don’t tell me you’re acting like this because you don’t think the duke will hold the servants for the separate house responsible even if Young Master is sick?”

Anne replied slowly, looking at Shana, who had a gentle face with a slight arched eyebrow.

“No.”

“Well, that can’t possibly be true.”

Shana nodded and took a step closer to Anne.

“Young Master Bliss is the owner of this separate house, and that is the reason why Anne and other servants were hired.”

Anne held her breath.

Shana only spoke out of a common sense for things that she knew, but unexpectedly it had a coercion effect on Anne.

“It is time to take dinner to the Young Master, isn’t it?”

“That’s right.”

“I will do it.”

“Pardon me?”

Anne was bewildered for a short while and then opened her mouth again.

“Guide. That is our duty.”

Shana smiled softly.

“If it isn’t because you are ignoring Young Master, it could be that you acted clumsily because you didn’t know how to attend to a sick person.”

Shana spoke forgivingly as if she understood the lack of servants who couldn’t even care properly.

“I can help you because I have had experience in nursing before.”

Anne bit her lips hard. It sounded like Shana was going to show a demonstration to her, so she should watch carefully and learn.

“Then should I go to the lunchroom and get Young Master’s meal?”

“……Yes, please.”

“Thank you.”

Shana walked past Anne while smiling pleasantly. Anne’s stiffly hardened face was something to see.

‘Anne, you have to smile like me.’

A pleasant smile can appease an angry person or infuriate them even farther.

Advising as a senior who worked in the service industry in her previous life. Then Shana headed to the lunchroom.

Shana went to Bliss’ bedroom with his meal and medicine.

She wondered if it was just her gut; as she got closer to Bliss’ bedroom, it felt unusually serene and chilly around.

The worn-out wooden floor creaked with every step she took, which made her sad.

Shana turned her gaze to the open window in the hallway. It was dark outside.

It was a place where the sun didn’t shine brightly through the windows even during the day. It was a place where not even a single piece of grass could grow easily, so was it any different for humans?

Knock knock.

She knocked on the door of the bedroom, driving away her lingering jumbled thoughts.

“Young Master, I brought your meal.”

There was no answer.

Shana hastily grabbed the doorknob worried, the ominous imagination she had been having all along seemed to have become a reality.

It was then.

“Leave it there.”

Bliss replied Just before she turned the doorknob. It was a faint and small voice muffled by distance.

His voice was low, but Shana was relieved that he was still able to answer.

‘……Was I worried for nothing?’

Perhaps, as Anne had said, he would naturally feel better if he rested well.

Light and common body ache that the attending physician diagnosed with just one examination. There was no need to make any fuss over whether Duke Hope called for a therapist or not.

‘Am I too distrusting of people here?’

That reminded her of Anne’s reaction a while ago.

‘Maybe I’m being a little presumptuous.’

Shana was filled with regret. No matter how worried she was about Bliss, it was clear that she would get on bad terms with Anne, from then on, because of the previous events that transpired.

How could she have done such a thing where she had to live as quiet as a mouse until the day she had to leave?

She put a tray of food and medicine on the floor while resenting her own impatience.

Just as she turned around and was about to go back, she heard a loud noise from inside the bedroom.

“Young Master?”

Her body moved unconsciously as she opened the bedroom door without permission. Fortunately, the door wasn’t locked.

Entering the bedroom, Shana was appalled by the sight in front of her.

Bliss fell under the bed and was rolling on the floor.

“Young Master!”

Shana ran quickly and supported him. Bliss’ body was extremely hot.

“Oh my god, you are burning up!”

“……I’m fine, you can leave.”

She couldn’t believe he refused her help when he was struggling with his own voice. Shana was angry at his baffling stubbornness.

“Which part did you say you are fine with? You can’t even get up on your own.”

Bliss, whose head was sunk down and struggling to get out of her arms, then stood still.

His hand ascended onto Shana’s hand, which supported his shoulder.

She stroked the back of his hand very carefully, then held onto the round nails of his fingertips.

It was a touch as if to confirm something.

“……Shana?”

“Yes, it’s me, Young Master.”

“Why are you here……”

“I should have visited you earlier. I’m sorry.”

As Shana spoke in a somber voice, Bliss raised his head slowly.

his blurry eyes looked at her.

“Why are you…?”

“Pardon me?”

“Why are you saying sorry? You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Shana knitted her brows slightly.

‘It seemed like his reaction was a little different from usual?’

It was Bliss who usually shook off right away when they held hands.

However now it seemed like it wasn’t enough that he grabbed it first, he held onto it tightly as if Shana would disappear from his sight any moment.

“Young Master?”

Shana called Bliss out of concern, but he didn’t answer.

Soon after, his hand that held hers relaxed, and his head turned down again.

He lost his consciousness while being held by Shana.

In such dire condition, he moved to bring food and medicine placed near his door to his bed everyday.

[Why are you so late?]

At the voice of the white dragon, she found where he was residing. Baek Ryong was barely spreading over at the edge of the bed looking at both of them.

“Is the Young Master’s condition serious?”

[Can’t you see? I thought you’d come earlier but……]

He sounded accusatory, but his voice didn’t hold any strength.

[I was worried about my master, but I couldn’t do anything.]

Baek Ryong looked sad; he was disappointed by his own incompetence.

Although he would eventually become a powerful dragon when he turns into an adult, he was still in his growth phase and couldn’t perform magic skillfully yet.

“Did the Young Master take his meal or medicine properly?”

[He barely ate it.]

Baek Ryong pointed to the bedside table with his eyes. There were many bottles of medicine that hadn’t been emptied.

It was natural as there was no one around to take care of him or help him take his medicine.
