Heart has Ling Xi
Chapter 31
The team had finally completed filming the scene. It took them two hours longer than expected. The crew unit finished up and moved on to the primary filming location, a mountain stream and lake. The director’s face had turned as black as coal along the way. He’d filmed so many shows and seen mutually incompatible actors battle over resources many times, but those actors had a sense of propriety and never slowed the entire crew’s filming progress. However, due to Bao Hui, the team was delayed for two hours. This type of blunder was unacceptable.
He didn’t know what kind of conflict existed between Bao Hui and Ling Xi, but he would never work with an actor like him, who ignored the overall situation, after filming this drama series again.
Everyone walked for about ten minutes through the forest till they arrived at the small lake where the bathing scene was to be filmed. It was described as a “small lake,” yet it was as shallow as a pond. A ten-meter-high hill stood next to the lake. The babbling brook poured down from the mountain, forming a little waterfall that converged into a ten-meter-diameter lake. The lake was crystal clear, and a few little fish swam around happily. Along the lake, there were trees and flowers, as well as a three-meter-high natural stone platform. It would be used to shoot the peeping scene.
Arriving early, a team of staff had already set up the lights and laid up the tracks beside the lake. They expected Bao Hui and his forest scene to be finished shortly, but they were surprised to find themselves waiting for more than two hours before the party arrived slowly.
Zhu Linlin had already prepared ahead of time. She was dressed in mini shorts and a heavy coat that was wrapped over her upper body. Once the filming began, she could simply remove her coat and enter into the water.
When she noticed Ling Xi’s listless appearance, she approached him and asked, “Why are you filming so slowly?”
In a few words, Ling Xi enumerated all of the good things Bao Hui had done.
Zhu Linlin: “Can you take it?”
Ling Xi shrugged, “What if I can’t take it anymore? I can’t just leave in the middle of filming and cry my way to An Ruifeng, allowing him to vent anger on my behalf.”
Seeing the furious expression on Zhu Linlin’s face, Ling Xi comforted her instead: “He loves to bully people, so let him bully others. Being cheap has its natural outcome. When I return, I will get a Taoist priest to open an altar so that he might be reincarnated as a little housekeeper who is bullied every day by unscrupulous employers in the next life.”
“…”
Ling Xi hesitated for a moment before continuing, “By the way, I just caught three leeches and threw them along his collar while he wasn’t paying attention.”
Bao Hui’s pained cry could be heard not far behind Ling Xi as soon as he finished speaking. He yelled “it hurts, it hurts” as he scratched his outfit furiously. Fearing that something would happen to this golden problem, his agent, assistant, and the crew’s doctor encircled him.
Ling Xi glanced in their direction with an evil smile, turned around, and muttered, as if inebriated, “Listen~ the sound of the sea crying~”

Another half hour had passed by the time Bao Hui, who had thin skin and tender flesh, finished treating his wounds. The director was suffering from a headache as a result of his frequent situations. When he realized he was finally okay, he yelled for everyone to start filming as soon as possible.
In private, female celebrities have protective measures in place when filming nude sequences, as long as they are not entirely exposed. In Zhu Linlin’s lake bathing scene, for example, only her naked back would be captured, not her hips or chest. As a result, she simply wore shorts on her lower body and applied anti-glare putty to her chest to protect it from exposure.
The lake was extremely shallow. The water reached just below her waist when she stood in the lake. The director told her to make it appear as if she was bathing by cupping water in her hands and splashing it on her body. In the mountains, the water was icy. Zhu Linlin felt cold to the bone after only a few minutes in the lake.
One camera was squarely facing her nude back, while the other was tracking her two fellow apprentice brothers as they stealthily staggered to the natural stone platform near the lake.
The second apprentice, played by Bao Hui, peered at the lovely woman bathing in the lake, drool dripping down his chin: “I arrived late, I arrived late. I can only see Lao San’s back and not her undressing.”
Ling Xi, the fourth apprentice and a dog demon, didn’t comprehend the difference between men and women and asked him ignorantly, “Doesn’t Third Brother undress every time he practices martial arts with us?”
“Silly dog, can this be the same?” Bao Hui shook his head. He reached out his hand to touch Ling Xi’s head as he delivered this statement.
This was an action that had not been included into the screenplay at all, and it was carried out by Bao Hui, whom Ling Xi despised the most. Ling Xi, after all, was not a professional actor. He didn’t have the energy to think about how to act smoothly when confronted with unforeseen scenarios while filming. Instead, he took a step back instinctively and smacked Bao Hui’s hand aside with a reflexive “slap.”
“Cut!” The director called a pause: “Ling Xi, he’s your second senior brother, not an enemy who murdered your father! Why are you acting so defensively!”
Although Bao Hui’s actions were not scripted, they were accurate in terms of the relationship between the characters in the drama and could not be considered sudden. On the contrary, Ling Xi’s defensive behavior shattered the script’s continuity. An outing between two good brothers devolved into mutual animosity.
Ling Xi tightened a string in his head while they shot this segment for the second time, always urging himself to remain careful. But when Bao Hui reached out to touch his furry ears, he couldn’t stop himself and averted his head to avoid it. Bao Hui found his weakness. Every time he spoke his lines, he made some superfluous tiny movements on his own, purposefully interfering with him, causing Ling Xi’s hair to stand on end and making it impossible for him to deliver his lines.
Bao Hui finally obtained his wish after several NGs and touched Ling Xi’s head. It’s work, it’s work… While Ling Xi’s ears trembled as he endured it, Bao Hui’s actions escalated. He actually tried to yank Ling Xi’s tail without any previous warning…
Quit teasing! Even An Ruifeng hasn’t yanked my tail before, so why should I let you, this shitty guy, do it! Huh?!
Ling Xi did not avoid his hand this time. He just flicked his tail and smacked Bao Hui across the face.
The inside of the tail was made of an artificial skeleton supported by a piece of metal, despite the fact that it appeared soft and fluffy. A flick like that was equivalent to slapping Bao Hui in the face with a baton. This baton, however, was encased in a layer of soft fur. So it hurt, but the trauma was not visible at all.
Ling Xi’s seemingly soft and fluffy tail drove Bao Hui to the ground. He gulped in a couple of cold breaths while covering his face. He could feel the roots of his teeth trembling and his mouth filling with blood.
“Aiya!” pretended Ling Xi. “Why is this tail moving randomly?”
Bao Hui was enraged, but because his mouth was numb, he couldn’t express himself clearly. He felt like he was already trying his best to yell, but only the two of them could hear him: “Don’t pretend to be stupid. There are sensors on your body. If you didn’t hate me, how could your tail hit me.”
“Oh! So you know that I hate you… Then why don’t you consider which of these heinous things you committed is likeable? You tried to steal my song first, then you found the brokerage company to put pressure on me, then you purposefully dragged your feet during makeup and filming—you’re popular, therefore you’re justified? I don’t have an agency, therefore I ought to let you steal the spotlight and squeeze me aside, right?” Ling Xi did not want to hit him in the face. He had just told himself to be patient and finish his work. He wouldn’t have to see this jumping clown again after the filming was through. But the brokerage firm’s apathy over the previous few days, as well as the bullying he had received that day, condensed at that moment, like a sour plum candy coated in icing erupting on the taste senses unguarded, and the sourness fully broke through his bottom line.
His tail appeared to be inadvertently resting on Bao Hui’s ankle and stiffened unexpectedly, causing Bao Hui’s face to turn red from pain. “You haven’t finished bullying me yet, have you?” he said quietly. “Bullying me is extremely amusing, isn’t it? Is your impotence causing you to bully me in order to reach orgasm?! I don’t have an agent. I’m not popular, but there are many individuals who are. You appear so arrogant and despotic! You think I’m Cinderella, don’t you? Do you want to spill red mung beans on the ground and force me to pick them up? If you mess with me again, believe it or not, I’ll just hang you up and stuff the red mung beans into your mouth one by one until you feel rejuvenated enough to fly.”
He stooped down and helped Bao Hui up from the ground with ease, as well as dust his knees, like he was helping his dear second senior brother. His face was full of smiles, but the words he spoke were extremely harsh: “Oh! By the way, I’m not referring to the mouth on top.”
Ling Xi spoke quickly, his words hitting down without giving Bao Hui a chance to answer. The crew nearby imagined they were chatting, and when they saw Bao Hui fall and needed assistance from Ling Xi, they concluded his face was pale because the fall had wounded him.
Everyone wagged their tongues, wondering: Why are male celebrities so squeamish these days?
Ling Xi acted normally in the next sections, while Bao Hui frequently forgot his dialogues, his introduction not matching the following lines. He irritated the director so much that he instructed everyone to take a half-hour break and start filming later.
Ling Xi cheerfully wagged his tail and strolled down to the stone platform to rest. He slipped another leech into Bao Hui’s collar as he passed by.
Bill Gates once remarked, “The boy who loves to laugh will have no bad luck” – Look! By picking up a stone at random, he could find plenty of leeches.
He raced to the lake since there was a rare network signal, and took out his cell phone to talk with An Ruifeng.
An Ruifeng answered the phone anxiously as soon as it rang.
“Why haven’t you returned after all this time? I believed you’d finished your return trip two hours ago.”
Ling Xi reported truthfully: “Bao Hui played tricks on me when I was filming right now. So it took a while.”
When An Ruifeng heard this, he became distressed. His Ling Xi was sweet and gentle, and he disliked arguing with people, even when he was being mistreated. An Ruifeng pledged to use any measures necessary to suppress Bao Hui when he returned. “I said earlier that I should accompany you… Are you currently at the lake? Wait for me; I’ll be right over. I’ll pretend to be deaf if the crew tries to shoo me away.”
“No need, no need, there’s truly no need,” Ling Xi explained hurriedly: “I just made it clear to him. He’ll definitely not bother me again.”
“Really?” An Ruifeng asked suspiciously.
“Really, really…” Despite the fact that An Ruifeng couldn’t see him, Ling Xi nodded vigorously. “Moreover,” he whispered, gripping his phone, “I just discovered a new way to use the tail… ”
“Yeah?” An Ruifeng’s nasal voice was a little sexy, a little pampering, and a little suggestive. “So?”
“So… An Ruifeng,” Ling Xi’s Adam’s apple rolled, “should we try out the new unlocked position?”
