Heartless
Chapter 14:One Day, One Day We'll Have Our Revenge
If she were to enter the forest in search of her friend, then that was up to her. Though the news of them going missing might be troublesome, many would suspect them going into the forest. In time, their parents will have to give up and all will be as it was.
Though it might be slightly troublesome during the day, especially if people crowd around the bridge during that time. Perhaps the parent wouldn't have to wait as long as I thought they would, it should be around the time that the Winter Solstice comes around.
"Honey!" a pale vampire called to me with a cruel smile when I reached the entrance to our house.
She was sitting in the kitchen, her curled black hair only reaching mid-waist. Her slitted eyes were staring at me with bloodlust and her pale blue lips opened to say, "shouldn't you be off at school?"
"Melinda," I said, "it's been a long time."
"I wonder who's fault is that," she asked rhetorically. I have created a force field around the house so that vampires couldn't get through. Though I suppose leaving it for a long time greatly weakened its strength.
"Do you have any business here?" I asked her.
"Can't I just see my husband and daughter?" she asked, her face turning pouty. It was a look that simply evoked revulsion for most people as it didn't suit her.
"You don't have a daughter," I replied to her.
"You would've thought an orphaned girl I've raised since the moment my memories were wiped would gladly accept my motherly love...." A wistful tone was mixed with much ridicule and sarcasm sounded from her and she even wiped her eyes to clear the tears that never existed.
"How can ones daughter be older than her mother?" I asked her, feeling nothing from being the target of such shameless acting.
"....Fine you win, but can't I even visit my husband?"
"No, he's reacting positively to the test."
"Is that all we are to you? Tests," she asked vehemently. I suppose all creatures would react the same way when knowing that they were nothing but test subjects.
"I suppose so," I answered her, entering the room to go past her.
"Keith," she called to me as I was about to enter the room. Keith was a name I've used often as the name always sang a familiar tune whenever I heard it. It was also the name the couple received when their memory was wiped and replaced.
"One day, one day we'll get revenge," she said before leaving the house.
"For you it may be revenge, for me it will be nothing but peace," I responded. It had been a long time since I saw Death. She told me that she'll send me through the wheel of reincarnation once I truly die.
'You'll feel again, in your next life, but at a price. Until then, hell will never accept you' she told me.
You can't cheat death. I know for a fact that trying to die before my time will only result in transmigrating, not reincarnating.
