Heaven Tastes Like Peaches
Chapter 35:The Sweet, Sticky Juice of a Fresh Peach
The silence was awkward, but no one seemed to be able to continue talking about it. Konrad was definitely not. He finished his scrambled eggs and took a deep breath. He had to say or do something to make this weirdness disappear between them.
"Good breakfast, but I would eat something sweet. Damn, I didn't buy anything. Are the stores closed today?"
"Not all. But maybe you fancy fruit? I have seen some peaches have already matured."
"Seriously?"
"Yes. We have a very good variety. Juicy and aromatic with a soft, orange flesh. Have you ever eaten peaches straight from the tree?"
"No. I would love to try."
The idea pleased him. When he and Inga were picking cherries (by the way a few landed in his and the kid's belly), he saw large, beautifully colored peaches, with their branches bending under their weight. There weren't many of them and maybe that's why they grew so big.
They left the plates on the table and went out into the fresh air. The summer sun was high, making the next day hot, though not quite as hot as the previous ones. The dense orchard tempted them with the shadow of its leaves.
"It doesn't look like you're going to sculpt today," remarked Konrad.
"It's Sunday. I'll rest" Sławek reached for a beautiful ruddy fruit. He plucked it easily from the tree, as if the peach was waiting for it. He examined it carefully and handed it to Skalski.
"Like Adam and Eve before their expulsion from paradise," said Konrad, blushing.
"It would be apples."
"Peaches are called southern apples" Konrad noticed.
"I heard about it" admitted Sławek, making Skalski's throat dry. Domejczuk turned towards the tree and picked another fruit. He intended it for himself and sat down on a bench by the fence.
"You know" Konrad sat down next to you "you really have a nice place here. Very nice. I guess I could live in a place like this forever."
"Wouldn't you miss your city and its pastimes?"
"Er ... maybe." Konrad admitted. "But there are cars. Once I get my driving license, I'll be more independent. The city is not that far from here."
"If you have a car, it's not. But when you have to count on the bus, you don't want to go anywhere. It's still cool during the school period, but only half of them go during the summer holidays."
"You don't feel cut off from the world?"
"I do, but I can't help it."
"So maybe you'd like to leave?"
Sławek looked at the sky. It was blue and clear, just like his eyes.
"Maybe. Once," he admitted. "But then I wouldn't have my peaches."
"Right," Skalski laughed and looked at the fruit handed over to him. It was a really beautiful specimen, so much so that it was a pity to eat it. On the other hand, if he does not eat it, the fruit will rot and will not be of any use. He looked at the peach for a moment longer and bit into the flesh.
"Yum!" He exclaimed in delight, his mouth full. "Yum! I've never had a better one in my life!"
"I'm glad it tastes good."
"Does it taste good? She is brilliant! Just…"
Slawek, sitting next to him, stretched out his legs, long and slender. He sat freely looking somewhere in the distance. He sank his teeth into the peach, and the juice ran down his chin - thick, sweet, sticky. He wiped it with his finger, but it wasn't enough. A few drops fell on his shirt. A few flowed down his neck and slipped under the waistband of his T-shirt. Konrad has never seen anyone eat so wonderfully sensually. It was just a fruit, an ordinary peach, and yet Skalski felt a current of desire running through his body.
In slow motion, like in a movie, Sławek's head turned towards him. The blue eyes were the color of the sky in which the golden rays of the sun danced. The lips glistened with sweet juice as tempting as the fruit they had just touched.
I want to kiss him. I need to kiss him.
Like crazy these thoughts were running through Konrad's head and his heart was beating as fast as if it was about to explode.
His tempting, luscious lips ...
Konrad leaned toward them as slowly as the slowdown in the movie. He was getting closer. In a moment he will touch his lips with his lips ...
Slawek turned his head and bit the fruit again. Konrad blinked, back to reality.
"I promised you that I would show you the ruins that we have in the area," said Sławek in an indifferent voice. "If you want, we can walk over there."
"Um, sure," Konrad Skalski agreed. He felt weird. He had the feeling that his brain was about to stop working and all he was going to do was desire. He didn't understand why it happened? Sławek had been hunting him for some time, but now, a moment ago, he wanted him as much as never before. It was close and he would have exceeded a certain limit. He wished he hadn't.
Domejczuk bit into the fruit again.
"You know, I like peaches very much," he said. "In our climate, it is not easy to cultivate them, because they have low frost resistance. That is why it grows in the middle of the orchard here. Thanks to this, other trees protect it from cold winds. I'm glad it tastes good."
"I've never eaten a tastier one."
"So why don't we take some with us?"
Konrad himself did not know why the thought pleased him so much. Perhaps he hoped that he would once again see the sweet flesh gushing under the pressure of Sławek's teeth, and the juice tricklingly trickling down the graceful outline of the chin and neck ...
"These ruins are far away?" He asked when Domejczuk got up.
"About three kilometers. What?"
"It's hot. I'll take the water."
If he walked alongside the even hotter Sławek in such heat, it was almost certain that his body would boil. It was a risk, however, which he gladly accepted, because the prospect of a walk with Sławek, here, now, on this sunny summer day, was an irresistible temptation. Eventually, he would be able to spend more time with him, because although they lived under the same roof and slept in the same bed, they hardly ever met. Meanwhile, Sławek's company was something that Konrad wanted more and more intensely.
It was so strange for Konrad, so new and a little scary, to feel attracted to someone this way. And yet it was also so attractive that his curiosity and excitement made him boldly go on and take that dangerous step of trying to get closer to Sławek. This boy awakened in him something that Konrad did not know yet ...
