Eli’s light, feathery kiss turned into a deep one as Daiya held the back of his head closer to his own. Daiya invaded the insides of Eli’s mouth, sweeping his breath away, only letting go when Eli was out of breath.

Eli gasped really hard while lying on Daiya’s chest. He held his face and looked at him carefully. They were too occupied with making love the past few days, that he hadn’t have the time to take a good look at him. The same face that he hasn’t seen in two years. There are so many questions he wanted to ask Daiya.

“What happened to you in these two years? How did you get away from the werewolf clan and pass through the barrier in the vampire territory? Did they hurt you?”

The series of questions came crashing down too suddenly and Daiya didn’t know where to start answering. He rested his head against Eli’s shoulder and Eli could feel a few drops of warm liquid on his shoulder.

His little wolf pup was crying. Eli’s heart started hurting even more.

“I missed you so much, Eli. I really missed you. But they won’t let me go. They won’t let me come find you. I was so tired.”

Daiya was forced to learn how to manage the werewolf clan every day, how to deal with power struggles, how to manage politics. Throughout that period, he couldn’t even see Eli. He was truly exhausted!

After being sent back with the werewolves, returning to the late werewolf king’s territory, the grand elder looked after him.

The wolf king had died and his sons started an internal conflict, fighting for power. In the end, some became mentally deranged, some died and some became disabled from the war. None could take up the throne anymore.

The wolf king has to be physically well and carry strong spiritual power to lead the whole werewolf clan. And they had to also be the direct relatives of the late werewolf king.

If by any chance, there really wasn’t any direct relatives, then it would fall onto the grand elder. However, the grand elder isn’t part of the werewolf king’s bloodline after all. It would be difficult to tame the werewolves, the nobles and all. Riots would break out too easily.

Initially, everyone thought the werewolf king had died without any eligible successor and they were ready to reluctantly let the grand elder assume the position.

Yet, it was then that they needed to use the werewolf ring to test whether there were still any remaining direct relatives of the wolf king, just to be sure. What if there really wasn’t a descendant out there?

In the end, they really managed to find him. Which was Daiya, who was then in the vampire territory, living together with Eli.

Daiya’s true identity was actually the son of the late werewolf king and his deceased fifth wife. He was also his youngest son.

Above him, the werewolf king had six other sons. Which meant Daiya had six older brothers. All of whom disliked this new-born wolf pup.

The werewolf king strived for power all his life and saw his blood relatives as his enemies. Hence, he had many conflicts and fights with his own kind over territories and power. He also did not care about maintaining a good relationship with his own sons, leaving them to his subordinates to educate instead.

Because of that, Daiya’s older brothers often bullied him when he was still young. They grabbed the tail of this wolf pup who have yet to take on a human form, flinging him around and throwing him to the ground. So on and so forth. That was why his body was full of scars even as a child.

They eventually sneaked into the werewolf king’s room and stole a magic tool that could remove the barrier between the two clans’ territories for a short moment, throwing Daiya into the other side and told their clan that: “It was Seia who didn’t want to stay here anymore, choosing to leave the werewolf king’s territory on his own will.”

Daiya was thus thrown into a completely different territory, and so happened to land in the back of Eli’s manor.

But at that time, Daiya was still a very small wolf pup. Coupled with the dizzying effects from breaking through the barrier, the first thing he saw after opening his eyes again was Eli. And other than that, he couldn’t remember anything else.

The werewolf king didn’t care that much at that time since he had so many sons anyway. Who would have thought that years later, none of his six sons were proper and filial. All of them started a power struggle, to the point where they either died or got severely injured.

The vampire chief sent Daiya back to the werewolf clan in haste. As a result, he didn’t have the time to get him and Eli to release the soul contract between them as it takes a long time to break an ancient and complicated contract like that.

As the only surviving and healthy blood relative of the late werewolf king, Daiya was made by the elders to learn how to manage the clan, handle power struggles and deal with wars.

They requested for Daiya to learn all of those and pass their tests before finally completing the succession ceremony as the werewolf king.

At first, Daiya really didn’t want to listen to the elders’ orders. Because he had no interest in becoming the werewolf king nor did he covet for power. He simply wanted to return to the manor and be by Eli’s side.

On the other hand, the elders believed that Daiya was bewitched by the vampire and strengthened the surveillance on him.

Later on, Daiya gradually figured out that if he did not follow the orders of the elders, they would never relax their supervision on him. And as a result, he wouldn’t be able to find the chance to return to Eli.

Daiya compromised and started learning what the elders taught him. He learned how to manage the clan, how to deal with power struggles and how to hold authority, pretending to loathe the vampire clan like the other werewolves.

But he requested for the elders to change his name. Not to call him by Seia, but as Daiya instead.

Because that was the name that Eli gave him.

However, the elders did not know the origin of the name Daiya. They thought it was simply just a name. Why would it matter? As long as Daiya returned to the werewolf clan, listen to their words obediently, changing his name would be a trivial matter.

Daiya never once forgot about Eli. Although he could not meet him again, but there was still the soul contract that bound him with Eli tightly together.  He knew that Elli was also waiting for him too.

It took two years for Daiya to earn the elders’ trust and for them to recognize him due to his ability. And finally, they felt assured enough to let him succeed the throne.

He succeeded the position smoothly and became the new generation of werewolf king, holding the power to lead the whole werewolf clan. And now, no one could restrict him anymore.

Therefore, on the day Daiya first became the werewolf king, his men suddenly discovered that their king had disappeared!
